Meghan and Harry have released a statement in regards to the California wildfire via their Sussex.com website.

It reads:

”In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighborhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and so much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life.
A state of emergency has been issued.
If you feel compelled to help, here are some resources and ideas:
Support
Organizations such as José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen, which has been a longtime partner of The Archewell Foundation, are serving meals to both first responders and victims of the fire.
CAL FIRE and LA Fire Department Foundation and others are working closely to support firefighters who risk their lives, bravely showing up in these high-risk environments to help save homes, families, and communities in need.
Animal Wellness Foundation is continuing to house and care for animals evacuated by the fires while Compton Cowboys is providing emergency transportation services for horses.
Airbnb and 211LA have partnered to provide free, temporary housing for those who have been displaced.

Baby2baby is providing essential supplies including diapers, clothing, hygiene products, and emergency kits to families in need.
All Power Books and many others are staying open for emergency use, offering supplies and water for pickup while working tirelessly to distribute essentials to those affected.

Open your home
If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do. And be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbors to see if they need help evacuating.
Give back
Some families and people have been left with nothing. Please consider donating clothing, children’s toys & clothing, and other essentials. The American Red Cross is on the ground helping those in need.”

Helping animals helps us all.

Non-profit organization leading in animal rescue, animal protection and awareness; and low-cost medical care. Adopt, volunteer and foster opportunities available!

This is Harry with Peace Adetoro (on the left) one of the most prominent Sussex Squad members. She travelled to Nigeria and to London (as seen here) with them. The other lady is Sussex Squad too.

The Christopher Bouzy linkage is interesting. His company Bot Sentinel, was engaged by Meghan to show how she was being targeted by Bots on twitter (which was the USP of his copany). Unsurprisingly, he reported back to his paying customer that she was. Although he then was sued by the individuals behind the accounts that trolled her, so while she was definitely the subject of targeted harassment - which I am not saying is okay, by the way - they weren’t Bots, they were real users.

Anyway, this part of his report is illuminating. He said:

This third and final report will demonstrate how single-purpose hate accounts
coordinate on several platforms, use Twitter to spread disinformation, circulate
conspiracy theories on YouTube, and monetize their hatred. We will illustrate how single-purpose hate accounts have turned targeted harassment and coordinated hate campaigns into a lucrative hate-for-profit enterprise.

Christopher Bouzy personally meanwhile set up a twitter rival called Spoutible and invited Sussex Squad members to join him there, where he hosted regular discussions with them (see the tweet below). Last year he went all in with the Sussex Squad on Spoutible that the Royal family was lying about Kate and her whereabouts, that they had produced deepfake videos and faked photos of her and that the British press was colluding in the conspiracy. See a tiny sample of some of his tweets from that time below.

Sounds a lot like co-ordinating hate on a platform to spread disinformation, circulate conspiracy theories and monetise hatred (Bouzy owns the platform he’s encouraging the Sussex Squad to use) to me. A lucrative hate for profit enterprise for Bouzy, anyone?

Anyway, Bouzy was also featured in Harry and Meghan’s Netflix documentary talking about how badly they are treated on social media, of course. They haven’t said a word to disassociate themselves from his current activity.

But, but.... silence is complicity.

For the millionth time just because someone posts something critical about the Sussexes does not mean they are obsessed with them, hate them, spend their lives looking for negative press about them or any of the other things said on here by lazy posters who cannot come up with anything else.

CurlewKate · 12/01/2025 13:21

@itsstillmehere "For the millionth time just because someone posts something critical about the Sussexes does not mean they are obsessed with them, hate them, spend their lives looking for negative press about them or any of the other things said on here by lazy posters who cannot come up with anything else."

I agree. The same applies to those of us who question some of the critical stuff and think that some of it is made up and unfair. We are not all members of the "Sussex Squad", whoever they are.

BemusedAmerican · 12/01/2025 14:02

When I saw the videos of the Pasadena trip, hate did enter my heart for a few minutes.

itsstillmehere · 12/01/2025 14:04

I agree @CurlewKate

I find it interesting that so many posters who “are not Sussex Squad” are so ill informed about what has gone on with Bouzy, Sarah Data, Peace Adetoro etc. yet will still defend H&M unconditionally.

ChimneyRock · 12/01/2025 14:50

Slightly off-topic but on what planet did H&M think it necessary or appropriate to hold fucking hands on that trip? It wasn't bloody date-night.

Thedom · 12/01/2025 15:53

There is a group photo of the Mayor, Gavin Newsom's wife, H&M, some police officers, a few others, doing the rounds on SM..

It's the kind of photo you would take at a party or event, its a dreadful look knowing the whole area is burning around them and the only thing left of the lives of residents in the neighbourhood are ashes.

Don't know how it got out there, but is really insensitive in the midst of a disaster. There is also a photo of Meghan arranging the line up for the photo,

Thedom · 12/01/2025 15:57

Considering how tight they manage to keep some things normally, this is quite the faux pas considering the desperate circumstances.

Don't know whose idea it was but who the hell thought a fucking photo shoot was a good plan?! "Ooh look, remember the time we all piled over to Pasadena when it was on fire? That's us with the mayor."
Optics, people.

ChimneyRock · 12/01/2025 16:21

Plus, some of them are smiling for the camera.

Mulchadoaboutnothing12 · 12/01/2025 16:43

I agree with CurlewKate too

I don’t know anyone who defends H&M unconditionally, but I know plenty of people who perceive the sheer volume of loud and unrelenting negative press against them, even five years after they have left the UK, to be somewhat “intriguing” .

Not to mention rather ludicrous given the antics of some of the other members of the RF!

If you’ve lived a little, you know that in most family disputes, it doesn’t pan out that one side are all kind, shiny and perfect, and the other side are nasty and evil, as that is Disney, not rl! In most circumstances, there are faults on both sides. And both sides have good and bad aspects to them.

I personally believe that some of the things that the UK RF do, eg lobbying for a preferential tax status, are far more serious, and affect more of us, than any of H & Ms’ tactics.

News stories and negative rhetoric about H&M serve of course as a useful and timely distraction for some!

JSMill · 12/01/2025 16:45

I can't imagine posing and grinning for a photo when all that devastation is around you. I have no personal connections with Southern California but I feel desperately sad looking at the pictures. How can people stand and grin for a photo. There's a lot of anger towards M and H on social media. They are complete idiots.
Of course M made sure the man in uniform was standing beside her.

What do you think of those photos posted by @Thedom a few posts before yours?

pelargoniums · 12/01/2025 07:58

They have done a lot of harm to the image of the UK and certainly to the British monarchy,
Have they, though? By what metric are we measuring the harm?

In terms of image of the UK, does anyone really associate Harry and Meghan with the UK, five years on from Megxit? During which time we’ve had plenty of other embarrassments shitting on our own doorstep: Boris Johnson and Liz Truss together have done more harm both in real, tangible terms and therefore image.

The monarchy has sailed on as usual. No one really cares. They’ve weathered scandals before and since, from Squidgygate and tampons and toe-sucking and Andrew and It’s A Royal Knockout to Philip running over Diana and Andrew again and bringing back Camilla (Meghan really ought to use her PR rehabilitation plan, she went from most-hated to being accepted as Queen!); Megxit is old news, superseded by Kate’s photoshop which itself is now forgotten and we’re on to the next thing.

I agree i don't known anyone who thinks that way. Only on this board do I ever hear it being said and your right it's been 5yrs! Sometimes you want to say let it go, let it goooo 🤪

MummyJ12 · 12/01/2025 16:49

Really? I think many of us on here would say that we do!

CurlewKate · 12/01/2025 06:39

I wish somebody would explain what they get out of being so angry with H&M. They are insignificant, really. If they stopped doing what they are doing it would change nothing. Why does it matter so much to you?

Why does it matter so much to you that you keep calling posters out on it?

It doesn't actually "matter" anyway! We're just chatting about them! As opposed to chatting about something else "insignificant"??

MummyJ12 · 12/01/2025 16:51

@Thedom. That photo…..goodness. Completely tone deaf.

MummyJ12 · 12/01/2025 16:54

Apparently the Telegraph are reporting that the couple have requested donations go through the Archewell Foundation.

I don’t think posters such as the ones on this thread live their daily lives constantly thinking about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle! There’s really only something to say when they’re in the news. And the trouble is, they’re in the news doing daft/ misguided/ ridiculous/ sanctimonious/ hypocritical/ whatever stuff a lot. I actually can’t think of them being in the papers for anything that wasn’t demonstrably or provably one or more of the above on some level at least. And, given they’re not trying to lead private lives and actively court publicity, they’re in the news because they want to be. So yes there will be a lot of commentary because they’re often in the news. And yes the commentary will be predominantly negative because they’re in the news for doing ridiculous stuff 🤷‍♀️

Well he's still 5th in line to the throne!!!

And Philip did not "run over" Diana, ffs!

Plus they have painted the UK as racist. That's pretty damaging???!

pelargoniums · 12/01/2025 09:21

The thread is not about Boris Johnson and Liz Truss. It's about the Sussexes and the Californian wildfires.
No duh. Thanks, Captain Obvious! Yet we had several pages about Beatrice attending Davos.

I’m well aware of what the thread is about, don’t be disingenuous. I’m clearly responding to the comment that they’ve done harm to the image of the UK (a comment which also has nothing to do with their statement on the wildfires, but I don’t see you policing that! Is it only comments in defence of them that need to stay strictly on topic?); it’s reasonable to respond to that idea by pointing out that in the time Meghan and Harry have been together, the UK hasn’t exactly painted itself in a glorious light. They can only harm the UK’s image of the UK has a good image to harm; and again, what metric of harm are we using?

Threads obviously grow in scope – this one started in response to the Sussex statement on the wildfires then grew to encompass their visit to Pasadena; along the way related ideas are discussed. This is how the internet works; it’s a discussion forum.

Point me out the "several pages"???!

It's clearly escaped your notice but they have drawn attention to themselves yet again by using a tragedy to promote themselves??
