PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 09/01/2025 19:47

Meghan and Harry have released a statement in regards to the California wildfire via their Sussex.com website.

It reads:

”In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighborhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and so much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life.
A state of emergency has been issued.
If you feel compelled to help, here are some resources and ideas:
Support
Organizations such as José Andrés’ World Central Kitchen, which has been a longtime partner of The Archewell Foundation, are serving meals to both first responders and victims of the fire.
CAL FIRE and LA Fire Department Foundation and others are working closely to support firefighters who risk their lives, bravely showing up in these high-risk environments to help save homes, families, and communities in need.
Animal Wellness Foundation is continuing to house and care for animals evacuated by the fires while Compton Cowboys is providing emergency transportation services for horses.
Airbnb and 211LA have partnered to provide free, temporary housing for those who have been displaced.

Baby2baby is providing essential supplies including diapers, clothing, hygiene products, and emergency kits to families in need.
All Power Books and many others are staying open for emergency use, offering supplies and water for pickup while working tirelessly to distribute essentials to those affected.

Open your home
If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do. And be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbors to see if they need help evacuating.
Give back
Some families and people have been left with nothing. Please consider donating clothing, children’s toys & clothing, and other essentials. The American Red Cross is on the ground helping those in need.”

Helping animals helps us all.

Non-profit organization leading in animal rescue, animal protection and awareness; and low-cost medical care. Adopt, volunteer and foster opportunities available!

If you say so! If not, why is she is there?

Who is she?? What would she bring to the World Economic Forum? I have no idea.

The high profile engagement is yet another sign of Princess Beatrice’s commitment to the royal family, which is perhaps unsurprising given she is one of the named Counsellors of State appointed by King Charles that can step in should he be unable to do so, including when signing routine documents and attending Privy Council meetings where needed

Edited

What do you mean 'if I say so?'

And why are you cut and pasting without providing a source?

Unless there is a formal announcement to say that Beatrice is representing the Monarchy at Davos, which there won't be, then we can assume she will be there in her personal capacity. All sorts of folk turn up at Davos. It's not that big a deal.

Ha!

I said "if you say so" because you are adamant she is not representing the royal family.

It looks like so going by the press. You may know different.

What do you need from me? Here is an Independent press link. Tell me if you want more.

Why would she go there if not representing the royal family. Do enlighten me.

The move signals her increasingly important role in the royal family

You must have been absolutely splitting your sides laughing when two other members of the royal family went on 'tours' to other countries. Why would they do that as private individuals? The emojis must have been in overdrive.

Just because someone is a member of the royal family, it doesn't mean that everything they do is representing that family. Beatrice does quite a bit of rich lady 'charity work'. She attended the dyslexia summit in New York two years ago. She also met Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia of Sweden in Stockholm a few years ago. But in neither case was she representing the monarch. The same is true here. If there is an official announcement from BP saying otherwise, I'll admit I was wrong. But I very much doubt there will be.

BustingBaoBun · 10/01/2025 20:18

Haha. So funny. Everywhere says she is representing the Royal Family but do disbelieve if that's your thang! No prob!

Both Princesses attended Davos last year, Beatrice representing Afiniti of which she is Vice President and Eugenie as co-founder of the Anti Slavery Collective .

It's quite important.

Has the RF said she is representing the Head of State? Or has the Government said that?

If not, then it's exactly like Harry at DealBook

"Everywhere" meaning the dreaded 'British media'?

So the British media is in fact an unimpeachable source? Even when they don't actually say what you are claiming?

Your trust in the British press is touching, but only BP can say if someone is representing them or not. And they have not.

If Harry were to turn up at Davos, would you say he was representing the monarchy too? Would you be falling on the floor in stitches at the idea that someone might think otherwise?

BustingBaoBun · 10/01/2025 20:33

He won't be going to Davos. That's all.

I do wonder why someone who is about to give birth would go, but call me stupid 🤣

Yes, and there was no mention of their attendance on any of the royal social media. Because they were not representing the monarchy. I'm pretty sure the same will be true for Beatrice, who is attending in a private capacity.

By contrast, when working royals have attended this has been noted on the official royal sites.

Again, it's a pretty clear distinction even if some folk are pretending not to see it.

He won't be going to Davos. That's all.

True, he'd have nothing to offer.

However, he has attended other conferences. Since you seem to think it laughing face emjoi level ridiculous for a member of the royal family to attend such events in a personal capacity, then surely he must have been representing the monarchy?

I do wonder why someone who is about to give birth would go, but call me stupid 🤣

OK.

I imagine all of the organisations listed have already put out info on how to help so not sure how this statement adds anything. They don’t represent any of those organisation or have any expertise in this area so I assume this is just trying to make themselves feel relevant.

Or....

Using their sizeable social media platform to disseminate information....

Why the need to ascribe narcissism?

BustingBaoBun · 10/01/2025 20:40

Tomatotater · 10/01/2025 19:20

So? They still turn up to state events and Royal events. Harry could have had the same as Beatrice and Eugenie. Personally I think only the Monarch and heir shoukd be representing the government and the country. Cut the rest loose ( with an equivalent cut in pay) That includes Harry but also Williams younger kids.

Harry didn’t want the same as Beatrice and Eugenie .
He ( and Meghan) wanted to pick and choose which events to attend , collaborate ( cringe) with The late Queen , earn lots of money but still have 24/7 Met protection which no other grandchildren have , apart from William as heir . They wanted titles for themselves and children .
They certainly didn’t want to be Mr and Mrs Sussex !

IcedPurple · 10/01/2025 20:55

IAmATorturedPoet · 10/01/2025 20:46

Because it's important to her?

Yes, and their announcement said that the baby is due in 'early spring' so it's not like she's about to go into labour any minute.

Most women don't put their lives on hold just because they're pregnant.

By your logic, Harry was representing the monarch in Nigeria then. Even though a statement was issued by the British High Commissioner saying categorically that he wasn’t 🤷‍♀️

Thedom · 10/01/2025 20:58

The royal sisters are in Davos for the annual World Economic Forum.

Princess Beatrice attends the annual forum in her role as Vice President of partnerships and strategy for Afiniti, per Hello, while Princess Eugenie is there with her charity the Anti-Slavery Collective.

Their Princess titles will undoubtedly have gotten them 'a seat at the table'. not sure how they were representing the RF though.

I'd be happy to oblige but I'd sooner not earn a ban.

Clearly the birth isn't imminent, and pregnant women do travel. She must be within the timescale where she can still fly. I'm nearly sure Beatrice has been to Davos before in her paid work capacity.

She is not representing the RF. You haven't pulled off the coup you thought you did 😂

WordSmithereen · 10/01/2025 21:21

The apparent lack of media literacy on this thread is mind boggling. Different royals doing same types of things - some are praised (or glossed over) whilst others blasted and trashed based purely on how the tabloids have portrayed them.

I don't look for a 'coup'. Too infantile!

Same as Harry and Meghan then

Anyway. If anyone wants to donate-All Power Books take Venmo. Animal Wellness Foundation takes PayPal. Compton Cowboys looks to be a fascinating organization, but I can't at first glance see an easy donation route. Baby2Baby take cards. World Central Kitchen takes ApplePay.

Thank you for posting this. WCK is my usual go to when I don’t know local charities as they seem to quickly be on the ground in these situations
