It’s interesting that likes and comments have been disabled. Surely that’s a big part of social media?

It’s the whole point of it. Engagement. Otherwise it’s just an online catalogue of photos.

She needs the likes and comments for the algorithms. However, she may feel her name is big enough that people will search her out with all the free press she’ll get in the newspapers. Her own algorithm as it were.

But at the same time. Many people will just wait for the newspapers to print the photos. So what’s the point of her insta if she doesn’t engage.

https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/brace-yourselves-for-meghan-markles-comeback/

It has been suggested that her new social media account is intended to “authentically share moments of joy and inspiration from her life” and that the clip “beautifully underscores the joy and positivity that defines this new chapter in their lives.” There are many emotions that come to mind when Meghan and her self-serving actions present themselves to the world, but ‘joy’ and ‘positivity’ are very low on the list. Instead, this video looks like another attempt at a rebrand, its full intent still concealed from us. No doubt its purpose, and what the Duchess has in mind to torment us all with this year, will become clear in due course.
As we overcome our collective fug of hangover and inertia, we can once again rejoice in the knowledge that the most divisive public figure of our times has returned, and that the attendant discourse, in all its over-excited forms, will be dragged back with her. Happy 2025, everyone.

Yip! The Royals threads will be busy 😂

Brace yourselves for Meghan Markle's comeback

In the late afternoon of 1 January, the Duchess of Sussex decided the perfect moment had come to relaunch herself into public consciousness

I agree if she is half assed with this like the ARO one it's pointless. She needs to maintain interest. It does feel like she keeps "rebranding" but it never works.

The 2025 previous attempt being visible on the sand is such a rookie error.

Catherines was very Boden. However, I get it with the euphoria of having completed her cancer treatment. So somewhat forgivable

Of course it's forgivable so long as it's anyone other than Meghan.

As another post stated, there is a long dark winter to get through and Meghan makes excellent cannon fodder - oh sorry; 'entertainment' for all of those who look for any and every opportunity to have a go at her.

Aspargar · 02/01/2025 11:48

So her pic was taken by Jake Rosenberg, he’s a celeb photographer. So she’s not just booked him for one photo….they’ll be a slew of fashion shots I’m guessing.

Red hot I reckon what with Harold's court case all lined up in the wings as well.

Vitriolinsanity · 02/01/2025 11:54

That looks more like Camber Sands than California.

kirinm · 02/01/2025 11:55

@Uricon2 do you talk about any other human like you do about Meghan? To anyone in real life or is your mocking and dismissive tone saved just for her?

CheeseandMarmiteToastie · 02/01/2025 11:57

She is very pretty but it all feels so fake and try-hard. ARO sounded awful but crazy royal obsessed Americans some people would have loved it. She can’t just keep reinventing her life and expect people to take her seriously.

and do you talk to people in real life with such a condescending tone?

kirinm · 02/01/2025 12:01

@Aspargar if asking if somebody is a bully to everyone or just Meghan makes me condescending than so be it.

Yes, too many rebrands

  1. She tried to rebrand from insta influencer to Royal. That was a disaster of epic proportions
  2. She tried Royal to philanthropist/feminist global leader. That didn’t work out
  3. We had global leader to entertainment production (NF/spotify). That didn’t work out
  4. We had boss lady producer to Trad-wife jam maker, that came to nothing
  5. Now we've got ‘just Meghan’ …’joy’ influencer

So rebrand meghan 5.0 and back to where she was 10 years ago.

This is very common now. Big celebs/names don’t need to (or care to) hear what their followers have to say. They don’t need the ‘engagement’ from comments they get it through filtering stories to the press and leaving people wondering. She’ll get plenty of clicks/views/whatever she needs without letting people comment.

Found the whole Instagram come back hideously cringe. Running along the beach, drawing in the sand… I’d much prefer if they just cracked on and did their ‘work’, gave time to good causes etc.

MrsLeonFarrell · 02/01/2025 12:11

Authenticity, joy, positivity

These are things that I think a lot of accounts on Instagram want to reflect and they are lovely things I don't think it works to just claim them though, you have to actually reflect them in your posts. I know I've mentioned her before but Jennifer Garner's posts have a great vibe, Meghan could do worse than look at them and get some pointers. She doesn't include her children so it's a slice of her life but with privacy which I think would work well for Meghan.

kirinm · 02/01/2025 12:12

@Aspargar okay, not a bully, just constantly mocking somebody. The whole thread is full of that. Every thread involving Meghan is that.

So many posters seem positively joyful if they can bash Meghan for anything. From the colour of her clothes to writing in the sand.

I'm not sure. She still hasn't cracked a million, and that's peanuts in social media terms.

The 'big names' you speak of have tens or even hundreds of millions of followers. They also have some substance to their fame that goes beyond being married to the 5th in line to the British throne. Frolicking on the beach in beige clothes is going to get very boring unless she has something else to offer.

Right, so you were guilty of it yourself. Labelling someone with derogatory name.

Practice what you preach

@kirinm

You have the option of reporting me to MN if you consider my posts break talk guidelines, but as you've been on the RF boards for a while, I think you know that they don't. I'm also not going to report you for your personal attack on me, because frankly, I don't care.

I consider much that H&M have done since their exit from the UK has been ill advised at best and actually cruel at worst and I'm entitled to say that.

TulipTiptoer · 02/01/2025 12:23

@kirinm I agree with you. There is constant mocking and belitlling of Meghan.

I swear if she had a huge run of bad luck in whatever form that took, there would be posters from MN absolutely delighted, whilst unsuccessfully trying to hide their joy. They love it if something goes wrong for her.

It was illustrated for me by one thread not so long ago with a poster saying.. I bet she turns up to Invictus to steal the limelight. Lots of agreement. Shortly after, another poster says... if she doesn't turn up to Invictus it shows she doesn't care about anything but herself. Lots of agreement again.

It was an eye opener and it gave me food for thought and made me realise she will never ever be able to do anything right in some posters' eyes.

I hope she makes a success of any new venture.

kirinm · 02/01/2025 12:24

@Aspargar do you acknowledge that this is a thread where posters are just bitching about Meghan then? And that's absolutely normal for a group of adults? Because you are doing a lot of mud slinging whilst ignoring what I actually asked which was whether somebody mocks everyone or just Meghan.

That's a question not me being condescending. It's me as an adult wondering why other adults can be so unpleasant consistently about an individual. And wondering whether they do it to everyone or just this one person.

Edited

How is asking you if you mock other people a personal attack?

I am sporadically on these threads but they're so unpleasant to read, it's very very occasional.

Thedom · 02/01/2025 12:29

I think a lot of people are dismissive of the Duchess of Sussex, the self aggrandising, faux philantrophy, employee and family bullying, publicly marginalising her husband, aka 'This One' , along with casting aspersions on a whole country, that is not something most people would hold in high regard.

Commenting on their massive publicity machine when it cranks into action for her image management is only to be expected, the propaganda is going to be commented on negatively.

Free speech and all that !! even if she and her husband would prefer free speech be buried for the masses.

Bitching? Absolutely not

There is nothing that breaks the rules on MN. This is a thread to talk about a celebrity. A celebrity who monetises their life. That’s fair game.

The overwhelming posts that are deleted on Royal threads are from M&H superfans. Who often use personal attacks and vile language and can’t see the hypocrisy in attempting to chastise and police us for being ‘unkind’
