because someone said negative comments about Meghans bump clutching were examples of racism and/or micro aggression.

I think Meghan can succeed at this and go far.

However the Mindi character. We have seen this before - Mindi does the whole self deprecating, not a size 0 dorky friend routine, “this is my most glamorous moment” referring to herself eating a sponge cake. Meghan head in hands laughing. I’m sorry but this trope is so predictable - the best friend who also doubles as a fan girl. Why don’t they ever have a tall blonde Swedish model friend saying “this is the most glamorous moment of my life, you’re amazing, so amazing”. I find it such cliche’.

Its like they haven’t worked out yet that the average viewer isn’t dim witted, we’ve seen this play before. All the women commending Meghan and the bees and honey - as if someone isn’t doing all the hard stuff.

The friend saying we are family. Come
on now.

I they could add in some genuine warmth and real moments. If they could find out who she really is and stop putting on this big show.

Lavenderfarmcottage · 03/01/2025 17:21

Don’t think it’s Meghan’s fault but whoever produces - read the room. Why aren’t you finding some rawer moments ?

https://www.express.co.uk/news/royal/1995903/meghan-markle-netflix-series-cooking

Meghan Markles new public image - softened with a sickeningly sweet “With Love, Meghan” tagline - feels like a leap too far from her bitter backstabbing and combative past.

The sudden pivot from “airing grievances” to a warm and fuzzy domestic lifestyle show has left many sceptical. It’s not just the content of the series in question but the inconsistency in Markle’s narrative that’s hard to ignore.

But the glossy sheen of “With Love, Meghan” can’t erase the bitterness that has characterised her previous media appearances.

However, the Sussexes’ tendency to air grievances has alienated more people than it has rallied supporters, with some accusing the couple of capitalising on their royal connections while simultaneously denouncing them.

For many, the juxtaposition between Markle’s previous mudslinging and her new warm, domestic persona feels disingenuous.

The “with love” branding appears out of step with the negativity that has defined her media strategy to date.

And while those personalities earned public trust through genuine enthusiasm, Markle’s approach often feels calculated, as though she’s ticking boxes rather than pursuing interests she genuinely cares about.

Until Meghan Markle learns to reconcile her past criticisms with a more authentic narrative, her attempts at reinvention will likely fall flat.

Meghan Markle ‘with love’ doesn’t fit with her backstabbing royal past

No amount of flower arranging, honey or jams will hide the lingering bitterness from Meghan Markle's previous public statements about the Royal Family we love.

Isn't this show produced by 'Archewell'?

Then it is Meghan's fault.

I think she is obsessed with looking 'perfect' and it comes off as highly inauthentic.

MummyJ12 · 03/01/2025 17:29

The “with love” title, isn’t entirely original. Pamela A did it last year…..

What successful TV show do you think this is similar to?

There are lots of cooking shows, but they feature people like Nigella or Jaime who have a background in cooking. What exactly are 'lifestyle' shows? Could you name a few for me? Genuine questions.

I've never watched anything with Stacey Solomon, but the trailers always look to be a similar kind of content. How to make little bits of your life look/feel a bit better?

The Hairy Bikers both had a background in TV rather than formal cooking I think? Different kind of lifestyle I suppose (!) but a similar concept/format?

itsstillmehere · 03/01/2025 17:35

So many outlets really giving her a pasting! Karma is biting her on the arse now.

itsstillmehere · 03/01/2025 17:39

The thing though with others who may have made tv cooking shows is that they didn't have an extremely negative image to try to counteract. We know Meghan has lied and exaggerated and falsely accused so that is a bit of a hurdle. People remember the negativity and find it difficult to match with this joy!
It would have been like Mussolini bringing out the Joy of Pasta.

The Hairy Bikers were brilliant, such great cooks and so authentic. Their programmes are a joy to watch! They always showed tremendous interest in the people they met and the places they went to. (RIP Dave😥)

If I were there PR I’d advise rhem to have a home base in the UK - something palatial with dogs and chess boards and kilts.

They should keep visiting overseas countries on the low and join forces with 5 other celebrities couples to bring awareness to serious causes around the world.

I’d advise they ditch all the shows and books and just invest their money and call it a day and promote really great causes.

NotaRealHousewife · 03/01/2025 17:43

The premise of the show is joy and love from M, the problem is that neither much joy or love has been shown by her

Atlasvue · 03/01/2025 17:44

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/royal-family/2025/01/03/with-love-meghan-netflix-trailer-cringe-moments/

They have tried their hands at various pursuits in that time, from taking Silicon Valley roles that are nonsense even by the standards of Silicon Valley roles, to hosting podcasts that are inane even by the standards of podcasts, but the only big hits have come when they’ve done what they undeniably do best: wind up the critics, troll comment sections, draw out hate clicks, and turn up the annoying to 11.

Taken in this spirit, With Love, Meghan looks like an absolute triumph. We’re all in the content mines, and Meghan’s struck gold with what might just be the most gloriously pointless-looking few hours of television of 2025. It’s all there in the trailer, so let’s break down the magnificence.

So it’s a cookery and lifestyle show in which people are breezily interviewed while getting stuck in. A mind-expanding first of its kind, if you ignore Chef’s Table, Saturday Kitchen, Netflix’s own Salt Fat Acid Heat, The Martha Stewart Show, even the (golden) Ainsley Harriott years on Ready, Steady, Cook and, in fact, almost every cookery/talk/travel programme ever commissioned. Still, only a true maverick would deny the existence of an entire strand of television.

(While we’re at it, you’d also be a little put out if you were the owner-operator of the lifestyle and interiors blog With Love, Abigail, which has a curiously similar name and logo…)

If we were in any doubt that this is a project precision-engineered to enrage all the right people, here’s the tell. An at-home show predicated on offering a softer, domestic side to the Duchess, far away from the inauthenticity of showbusiness… turns out to have been filmed in a rented estate two miles down the road from where she really lives. That is not her kitchen. She has only just learnt which side the fridge door opens on. For all that dog knows, she’s run away to start a new life.

We can well understand why Meghan has done this – her own house is too full of children, chickens and Prince Harry to reasonably fit a camera crew and three famous friend-guests in – but more than anything else, this is a naked lure for the hate-clickers. Oh, she’s good. She’s very good.

You can’t even spell “Meghan” without a lost “H” appearing in the middle, and true to form, there he is, 85 seconds into the trailer – late by some expectations, but his arrival never in doubt.
The fifth in-line to the British throne shows up, mimosa in hand, probably wondering what the hell he’s filming now, whose house this is, whether the owners even know they’re here, why the dog’s been missing all summer, and just hoping, desperately hoping, that this marks a return to form for Team Sussex on Netflix after the disappointment of polo, his recent tribute to the deeply relatable hobby he shares with around 23 people worldwide.

My toes are literally curling at the thought of that.

Nothing cringier than 'celebrity couples' playing lord and lady bountiful.

Of course, they were both proper national treasures! I'm not saying that Meghan decorating some cakes in a fancy kitchen will be anything like as good a programme, I'm just saying it's a similar genre.

So she went on Oprah and whinged about her in-laws (who are pretty tricky tbf) and now she's Mussolini?!! 🤣🤣🤣

Well, I would disagree, because Si and Dave were lovely, popular and were proper quality cooks. This looks like a Trad Wife sort of show. There's nothing wrong with that, pretty dresses, flowers, light touch domesticity, but it's not the same in my opinion.

Lifestyle, probably. It's about being an influencer, I think.

No I mean the account just says ‘Meghan, Duchess of Sussex’ (which is correct) - she usually adds the ‘the’.

But that's like saying the writers of Eastenders wouldn't be chuffed if someone put them in the same TV category as Eldorado! Different content, different quality (maybe people would have different opinions as to which writing was of the higher quality... 🤣) but still - same genre.

Yes. Oh my goodness. What nice blokes. I loved their series because it was all about great food lovingly prepared, and wherever they went, they talked to people and learned from them.
Such a loss.

Uricon2 · 03/01/2025 18:02

I'm a huge fan of Diptyque but am puzzled by how many of the diffusers it would have taken to make a difference in St Georges Chapel. I similarly wondered about Kate's (? Jo Malone) candles in the Abbey, for what it's worth!
