She’s also wearing a signet ring on her pinky like an aristo

I wonder if it’s her monogram 😂

I think it will go the way of POLO.

I don’t think it will get mocking reviews but I think people will tune out after a few episodes. Well some naughty reviews but not awful.

Cooking shows do better when it’s a weekly release though. Like a relaxing catch up, something to look forward to.

Dumped all at once- well youre not doing to binge watch a tv cooking show are you? There’s no cliffhanger at the end of each episode to make you watch the next one.

Feels like NF are dumping this on us as a limited series.

I think that's right. OK if a drama or something (prefer it) but I imagine there will be many who watch one or two and then forget it's on. I've prone to do that even with stuff I do like (halfway through the Mirror and the Light and got distracted, will go back to that though!)

itsstillmehere · 02/01/2025 18:20

8 episodes??? Omg noooo 😂

Fluffyholeysocks · 02/01/2025 18:28

Maybe she'll invite some celeb friends to come over and compete over who can make the best cakes. I'd watch if it was the likes of Ozzy Osbourne creating carnage in the kitchen.

pelargoniums · 02/01/2025 18:29

Doesn’t that show she has strong branding, though? Your argument is that she’s all over the place unlike Gwyneth (who I adore), but actually she’s got a signature style and her show is recognisably Meghan.

MrsLeonFarrell · 02/01/2025 18:38

wordler · 02/01/2025 17:52

@StrawberryWasp I think if she'd gone this route from the start, avoided all the back stabbing and whining, ditched the royalty for an unpretentious Cali vibe it might have worked.

Totally agree - if they’d gone straight for happy upbeat productive things that played to their strengths - rather than trying to set up an American version of the royals plus all the backstabbing interviews and book which made them look like horrible people- this could have been a huge success.

It still could work - but they’ll have to be very disciplined not to fall back on the complaints and clap backs in the press.

This trailer looks fun and upbeat - something I’d definitely watch.

I agree that it's such a pity their new life got off on such a negative foot because this is far more positive.

It isn't something I'm going to watch because I don't watch cooking shows, but I think it will have a broader appeal than Polo. Whether she'll get a second series is debatable because Netflix drop loads of things very quickly. I've stopped watching series on there unless I know they got to finish properly.

As for her 'elevating the ordinary' comment about hummus and veggies, hopefully the edit will reduce moments like that which are fertile ground for nasty Daily Mail clickbait articles. I hope also that they cut down the celebrities worshipping sponge cakes as well. That comment made Mindy look ridiculous.

You mean cooking and inviting friends over, entertaining them with hubby in tow, by pretending to be in a home that isn’t actually hers.

What kind of branding is that?

What is her 'signature style'? - why is she so deserving of a cooking/lifestyle show? Is it her cooking skills? Her background in running a Michelin star restaurant?
I don't see a 'strong brand' - to me they are trying too many things they have no expertise/flair/talent for. She's tried acting, writing, jam making, podcasts - now it's cooking. What next wine making?

Sorry, meant to quote the bullet points

Well, I've got Netflix and I'm going to give it a try, with fresh eyes and in the interests of fairness. If I think it's good, I'll say so. I'm tired of the constant narrative of how posters on here who are in any way critical of the actions of H&M are racist jealous harpies. I don't think we are at all, but a lot of the supporters would rather talk about what we say than anything positive about the couple they admire so much, most of the time.

I'll be watching. I love food shows, and it's definitely more appealing than their Netflix docuseries (which I gave the swerve).

NotaRealHousewife · 02/01/2025 18:46

It looks a bit schmaltzy for me but I will give it a go

ChristmasKelpie · 02/01/2025 18:53

Good lord it's a cross between Nigella and Brooklynn bloody Beckham and as for the fake friends, so bloody cringe.

Aspargar · 02/01/2025 18:53

We have the lemons, we have the jam!….or is it honey?

diamondpony80 · 02/01/2025 18:54

Most Instagrammers are just making fake lifestyle videos for the money so it's obviously what works right now. Will be interesting to see if it works for her with her reputation being what it is.

hepsitemiz · 02/01/2025 18:56

“These make my New Year's resolution list nearly (AKA actually every) single year. The swearing comes in lulls, triggered by being overworked or feeling mighty cheeky after a couple drinks."

Wow @Aspargar , that’s just terrible syntax from Meghan. You’re supposed to be still left with a grammatical sentence if you leave out the words in the brackets. Ooof.

Also, her swearing comes in “lulls” ??? 😅

hopeishere · 02/01/2025 18:58

I'll watch it (to DH's derision) but I go back to my point she should quietly close the ARO insta and just have one.

MummyJ12 · 02/01/2025 18:58

I agree with @StrawberryWasp, @wordler and @MrsLeonFarrell. It is a shame that they didn’t have this positive energy from the start. The trailer actually has a good vibe to it.

Unfortunately, Meghan has a popularity problem that will certainly impact the success of the show. Even if people watch the first episode out of curiosity.
She doesn’t have the influence that she had so there are no ‘A-lister friends’ showing up for this offering by the looks of things. Which is what she would need for the big viewership figures.

IMO, they are very much trying to hang on to their Netflix deal and prove their worth. Although I think it may take a top 10 hit to do so…..

Interesting that there’s no mention of ARO?! That’s dead in the water isn’t it?

Paradoes · 02/01/2025 18:59

I love these types of programmes 😂 I still flick through Pippa’s book on entertaining

Aspargar · 02/01/2025 18:59

ARO is completely dead

’Meghan’ is the new brand

Thedom · 02/01/2025 18:59

That blue dress is gorgeous.

I'm off to youtube for the trailer comments, should be a good laugh.

MrsLeonFarrell · 02/01/2025 19:01

"Create wonder in every moment"

I'm definitely not her target audience because that just makes me cringe.

And it's a me problem, she knows who she is aiming this at and it's not people who cringe at that sort of thing.

MooMooFinch · 02/01/2025 19:04

I wonder if she has paid Pippa Middleton royalties for this screen adaptation of Pippa's book.

Serenster · 02/01/2025 19:04

Edited

Are the lemons being used to create visual interest below the waterline in the vase of flowers…? What a waste of lemons, if so.

Onlyonekenobe · 02/01/2025 19:06

I think it’s going to be an 8-episode-long Instagram reel. Which can never work. There’s a reason why gwyneth didn’t do it: there’s nowhere to hide.

Just the trailer is a gawp-fest of inauthentic, cringe-inducing, hypocritical narcissism: look how beautiful I am in the sunshine, in this beautiful house with these beautiful people (none as highly-produced as I am though, except for Mindy who’s probably the most rich and experienced and narcissistic of the lot), doing beautiful aspirational things in beautiful clothes with perfect hair and shiny bright white teeth, wearing my Duchess title so casually like I’m still the jobbing actress/waitress I was 25 years ago. It’s an excercise in hypocrisy (on the one hand lecture people on the evils of social media, on the other promote your look-at-me-love-me show on Instagram which you’ve spent years telling people isn’t actually real life and can harm people
who believe it is - you just couldn’t make it up). None of it makes sense (it never does with them) which it won’t succeed. It’s illogical, hypocritical. And all being released after the influencer tide has turned, and more people than ever know 99% of Instagram is self-promotional lies (including for the RF); Trump’s going to inaugurated 5 days after this drops and women’s rights are going to be front and center all over again. It’s just garbage. Ill thought through rubbish.
