Harry not honouring Tyler Perry. Why?

Way back in July, it was announced that Harry and Meghan are tribute chairs for Tyler Perry and the award he will receive at the Paley honours Gala on December 4th. See

Now we are told, even though Tyler has helped his family over the years and is his daughter’s godfather, that Harry won’t be attending the gala even though he is on the hosting committee. Instead Meghan will be on her own? See

Why? It makes no sense. I understand that their work takes them different places but this is something they are both involved in. Harry is off to a book conference that just so happens to be on the 4th December, all the way in NY.

He was a chair of the committee and he doesn’t bother to show up? That’s really poor taste, for a man that has done so much for him.

It’s also just adding unnecessary fuel to fire that all is not well with their marriage. This is an event that they should be doing together, instead Meghan will be left to the red carpet on her own. If he didn’t want to be part of it, why did he join the hosting committee, if he never intended to host?

Yes, he is part of the hosting committee and this award, in the entertainment world is very prestigious.

There really isn’t any excuse to behave in such a way.

He is adding fuel and he knows it. They last had a video filmed weeks ago. But it’s prerecorded so we don’t know the actual date of it. Therefore, they haven’t been seen together for months now.

I’m thinking that was one of the last times that Harry and Meghan were pictures together.

Maybe they didn’t have a bouncy castle set up for him

Why the change? We know the Harry and Meghan like to use them for PR, so this is why I always assumed they turned off the comments. Not that it’s a busy section, but still. Another odd turn

The criticism was of Harry, and didn't mention anything about anticipated reaction by the honouree

Let’s not pretend we can’t read between lines. All OP really wanted to do was talk about trouble in the Sussexes marriage. I’m sure Tyler will survive, he’d have been told before the info was put out anyway.

Does it really matter?

Harry isn't turning up for one of the seemingly endless award things celebrities give each other. I'm not saying that people aren't doing worthy things for charity, I'm sure they are. It's just that one side effect of Harry and Meghan moving to California is that I'm now far more aware of just how many awards rich people give each other in the US (and probably elsewhere to be fair). I find it hard to read anything into Harry not turning up for one of them when he has a diary clash.

It's not evidence that Harry isn't friends with Tyler anymore.

It's even less evidence that Harry isn't friends with Meghan anymore.

It is evidence that diary clashes happen.

... he asked Jeff Bezos, Bill Clinton, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Open AI CEO Sam Altman, Serena Williams, Fed Chair Jerome Powell, Eli Lilly CEO David Ricks and others if they could get together in New York on the same day as Tyler was having his Paley Center Honor ceremony, and they all said: "Yeah buddy, we're happy to help! We know that a few obsessively hating folks just LIVE for their daily dose of 'Meghan and Harry are getting divorced' BS fake gossip, so we'll make space in our schedules so you can get an excuse to get away!"

Duh.

Diary clash?

It was annoyed yesterday that he would actually be in NY.

There’s no such thing when you have a team of staff to handle your diary. This was a choice.

There was no implication that he isn’t friends with Tyler. I’m saying it’s a poor show committing to a friends event then bailing.

Which also further highlights separation rumours. Why? Because that really would be the only acceptable reason to do that to a friend that has done so much for you. Including providing security for his kids at one point.

Maybe he has a million reasons that are nothing to do with weirdos who obsess over this stuff.

I don't think they have a team of staff handling their diary though. They always give the impression of being rather disorganised in their business life, look at the launch of ARO for a start, so I can quite see something like this happening.

Definitely. It’s getting embarrassing now the amount of sm comment, “news articles” and entire podcasts that are based exclusively on airing negative criticism about Harry or Meghan. It’s entirely for profit and lead by tabloid clicks.

If followers of the RF board are as knowledgeable, objective and thoughtful as they claim to be, you’d think that they would have caught on by now.

I’m not even a great Harry or Meghan fan, I certainly don’t approve of everything they have done, but honestly Peter Sutcliffe received less negative press than H & M do currently! . It’s an entire industry!

Edited to say: I was going to add a comment saying that all of our marriages would falter or at least buckle a bit if we had the same volume of negativity which is aimed at them, directed towards us, but I don’t think there is any evidence to suggest that their marriage is in difficulty anyway and I don’t want to be part of the onslaught by speculating!
