Harry not honouring Tyler Perry. Why?

Sunblessed · 26/11/2024 14:00

Way back in July, it was announced that Harry and Meghan are tribute chairs for Tyler Perry and the award he will receive at the Paley honours Gala on December 4th. See

https://people.com/meghan-markle-prince-harry-celebrate-tyler-perry-paley-honor-8679521

Now we are told, even though Tyler has helped his family over the years and is his daughter’s godfather, that Harry won’t be attending the gala even though he is on the hosting committee. Instead Meghan will be on her own? See

https://people.com/meghan-markle-prince-harry-attend-events-on-same-day-next-week-but-on-different-coasts-8751500

Why? It makes no sense. I understand that their work takes them different places but this is something they are both involved in. Harry is off to a book conference that just so happens to be on the 4th December, all the way in NY.

He was a chair of the committee and he doesn’t bother to show up? That’s really poor taste, for a man that has done so much for him.

It’s also just adding unnecessary fuel to fire that all is not well with their marriage. This is an event that they should be doing together, instead Meghan will be left to the red carpet on her own. If he didn’t want to be part of it, why did he join the hosting committee, if he never intended to host?

Kate used to ‘bump clutch’ too but was never ever criticised for it.

Meghan is much more aware of cameras and her good angles and it is simply her training. What is read into her actions is on us - and on journalists who make a living off denigrating Meghan

I think that's because she occasional touched it when quite large (and it gets a bit hard to miss it completely and all the time)

What she did not do is the two handed bump cradling. It's not something that is common in Britain and so is conspicuous

Serenster · 05/12/2024 21:46

Kate did touch her bump, yes. Bearing in mind neither you and I were there to compare and contrast, I suspect she did do in a way that appeared natural. Unless you have a photo of Kate looking like this? Or video footage of her constantly pulling back the side of her coat so that her bump was more visible to the photographers?

When you say 'get criticised' I assume you mean by the evil British media. I don't recall Kate being criticised for that either. However I also personally didn't notice her doing it. I did however notice Meghan doing it because it was incessant. I have never seen any public figure or anyone I knew personally touch their bump so frequently. I didn't need the media to point it out to me. I saw it with my own eyes.

Mylovelygreendress · 05/12/2024 21:54

I also don’t recall Catherine wearing a maternity looking coat ( Eugenie’s wedding) when she was only a few weeks pregnant!

Rhaidimiddim · 05/12/2024 21:59

Are we allowed to mention Birkenhead yet?

Mylovelygreendress · 05/12/2024 22:03

Birkenhead ? I am intrigued ….

I've no idea what that's about.

But suspect it'll be something from the bottom feeders of the internet, and best left alone

Ifvthe British media had really had it in for her, this would have been front-page news.

It is simply her narcissism.

Don’t worry! It just refers to her visiting Birkenhead wearing a red coat and purple dress and furiously bump clutching and coat flicking

The marriage has lasted a lot longer than I thought it would, so marriage trouble wouldn’t surprise me. But they are both totally out for themselves at all times, so it equally wouldn’t surprise me that either of them would pull out of a commitment if they got a better offer, or one they felt was better for them personally. Hideous people.

Red and purple Xmas Shock

Are you sure? Wasn't she oppressed into beige?

isitsnowingyett · 05/12/2024 22:31

Are there any photos of Oprah at this event? I believe she opened the event? Out in the sticks tonight and barely any reception to Google.

The video footage shows much more than that.

Viviennemary · 05/12/2024 23:18

This display was posing and coat flipping to display her bump. It was bizarre.

Tealeavesinthecup · 05/12/2024 23:50

I think most women when heavily pregnant touch their bump from time to time, but not clutch it like a football or a trophy. She did it almost constantly in a very ‘look at me , I’m pregnant’ manner in all sorts of situations . It was quite obviously done to draw attention to herself.

StartupRepair · 06/12/2024 00:15

There is natural bump touching which Kate did and there is Instagram posing. Two different behaviours.

BettyBlueSky · 06/12/2024 02:29

I didn’t write ‘get criticised.’

And no, not just the British media but sm and, as anyone can see just by scrolling up, on here.

JuliaLivilla · 06/12/2024 04:29

@JSMill I must have a harsh word with you. Every time I see your name I immediately think of John Stuart Mill about whom I know next to nothing. But as a Sydneysider I am very familiar with the Philosophers' Song from the University of Woolloomooloo from Monty Python. Your user name is constantly in my mind as:
"… John Stuart Mill, of his own free will,
On half a pint of shandy was particularly ill."
and then I am compelled to mentally sing the whole song, and at least once a fortnight watch the whole sketch on YouTube.

Still, a bit of MP is no hardship.

The Tyler Perry double grip on the claw. He wasn't having any of that!

Neutral colours work really well for Meghan as she had warn skin tones. She wore mostly neutral colours before she entered the RF.

She likes to wear red but hot red is a bad colour for her due to her warm skin tones. She would suit warmer reds and brick tones.

The black dress is good but the shoes are bad for her, not offering enough ankle support which is why her toes are well over the front and touching the ground. Almost impossible to wear strappy stiletto sandals like that unless you've a dancer's muscle control. This is why she should start using a stylist again - swapping shoes shoes out for something dainty and closed toe would've made all the difference, and probably helped her to be more comfortable too, as she's clearly struggling with them.
