Harry not honouring Tyler Perry. Why?

Way back in July, it was announced that Harry and Meghan are tribute chairs for Tyler Perry and the award he will receive at the Paley honours Gala on December 4th. See

Now we are told, even though Tyler has helped his family over the years and is his daughter’s godfather, that Harry won’t be attending the gala even though he is on the hosting committee. Instead Meghan will be on her own? See

Why? It makes no sense. I understand that their work takes them different places but this is something they are both involved in. Harry is off to a book conference that just so happens to be on the 4th December, all the way in NY.

He was a chair of the committee and he doesn’t bother to show up? That’s really poor taste, for a man that has done so much for him.

It’s also just adding unnecessary fuel to fire that all is not well with their marriage. This is an event that they should be doing together, instead Meghan will be left to the red carpet on her own. If he didn’t want to be part of it, why did he join the hosting committee, if he never intended to host?

More awkward moments on Tik Tok of Meghan hanging onto Tyler's arm to get in another photo. He turns his back on her and she does that weird seal clapping. She's then hussled off stage by someone and this is the result .

Exactly, so if he doesn’t google himself, how on earth does he know about rumours on online forums.

He knows what he’s doing though, he makes it out as if it’s the British press that’s writing this stuff, so to make his quest against them look noble.

He is a spreader of misinformation

It's actually almost painful to watch the videos of Meghan from the event- the vying for position, the constant scanning for cameras and the constant facial manipulation. It seems such a difficult way to live. She didn't seem relaxed at all.

Maybe she is thinking of all the negative criticism that will follow once the photos are published, eg some comments on this thread?

I hate stills/ miniscule snapshots like this.
It shows you precisely nothing.
But it does show you how desperate her detractors are to find something to criticise.
And I, btw, would probably count as a detractor, as I really don't like either of them much, but this is too far.

No offense to Tyler Perry, but starting from yesterday the focus in all the American media has been the killing of the health executive outside of the Hilton and the consequent reaction. The only mention of the award that I have seen is here. However, I've seen the footage of the killing on multiple media sites.

Tyler Perry is at his event and obviously has to be seen with all and sundry. Another interesting video is where she greets him and he gets a hold of both of her hands and holds them between them but at a distance.

What is too far @cheezy ? Me saying what she did ? Awkward clapping when he turns his back on her? Getting into an exchange with one of the coordinators?

Too far is, IMO, taking a single, still photo and jumping to conclusions.

I'm not a fan but dont see anything particularly problematic on that clip - red carpet videos are always bizarre. The video earlier of Eliza and Amelia is the same - odd poses for cameras to catch.

Did think Tyler Perrys outfit was grim - jacket def too tight.

I’ve said this several times in the past (and been criticised for it, but I still believe it). All that posing and positioning on red carpets looks completely unnatural and fake - because it is. But it means that the still photos that are taken look great - no double chins, rictus smiles, lost necks etc. faces in the light and bodies nicely positioned.

Meghan had been working red carpets for years before she joined the Royal Family, and knew exactly what to do to get great photos. So she continued to do that here too. It made her look completely unauthentic in that context though, because no-one else around her was behaving that way. And because it must have been very obvious to the journalists that worked with her day in and day out that she was always very mindful of getting a good shot, that translated into headlines that her supporters claim are racist (bump-clutching, etc).

She took great photos though….
