The Archewell Foundation hosted a dinner for the Southern California Welcome Project with their partner organization, Mina’s List. Mina’s List spent the past year building community and a safe space for women who have resettled in the U.S. from Afghanistan.

The organisation has helped evacuate and resettle more than 2,000 women leaders through independent and coalition efforts. They applied to become part of the Welcome Project after hearing about Archewell's efforts. "It was the opportunity of a lifetime to be able to partner in that way,"

Why has she turned up to an event, run by Muslim women, with bare shoulders again. The outfit is lovely .... if you were going out for lunch with your friends.

I mean, she really shows no respect for other cultures, it seems she prioritises her own image, and she curates it to the nth degree without any consideration for those she is supposedly there to support.

Everything she does is largely self-aggrandizement, it rarely appears genuine, just another attempt at enhancing her reputation by publicly associating herself with others for nothing more than PR purposes.

When asked what others can do to feel welcome this is her answer

“It’s really easy,” Meghan told Marie Claire. “Just think about how you’d want someone to treat you … How would you want someone to open their arms to you?”

I mean thats laughable, like a round robin answer you would find if you asked a bunch of primary kids the same question. She has nothing, nothing of value or insight to say, she just isn't interested because for her, it's not about them.

Mylovelygreendress · 23/11/2024 08:26

The event took place several weeks ago so wondering why this was only released now ?
I do wish she ( or someone) would iron her clothes . And bare shoulders ?

Yes exactly.

Everyone has their own take always from events like this. Mine is that the attendees looked to be having a good time and I learnt more about Mina’s List and what they do.

for sure they looked like they were having a good time, handpicked attendees. photo from X of the same ladies who she was photographed with last year.

Good catch. I’m glad for this continuity, they really have built a community. Catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.

What exactly is the issue with this?

I’ve just noticed the graphics, what a shame. Meghan aside. Projecting ugliness onto women taking time out to help their community. A real real shame.

OP posts:
dogwal · 23/11/2024 09:55

Exactly, it is a shame. Great cause blighted by Meghan's PR, there is no ugliness or criticism projected onto the women helping their community, the criticism is Meghan using their efforts for her personal PR at her own convenience..

According to Marie Claire, this was an event which happened in February, it's becoming clear the modus operandi of The Sussexs' PR is to use these events to generate publicity for themselves, and not for others, at a timing that is beneficial to them (upcoming Netflix series perhaps?).

Really?
In that case, how weird to publicise it now.
It's a shame more of the food isn't shown - I'd love to see the recipes too.

The women chose to appear in photographs with Meghan twice, if they had any issues with it the first time, it wouldn’t happen again. Please stop lying, the event was held recently.

It wasn’t. She had met the women previously in February at another cooking event, hence the easy conversation. This pictured was event held in October.

So the article is a mish mash of a past and an event from last month ?

Gets better every time 😏You couldn't make it up.

isitsnowingyett · 23/11/2024 10:34

MangshorJhol · 23/11/2024 07:29

MM isn’t an attendee though, was she. She says it’s one of their Welcome Projects. She did a whole piece in a magazine about her support for the cause and her Foundation website doesn’t link to this ‘Southern California Welcome Project’ of which Mina’s List is a part. I googled “Southern California Welcome Projecf” (I urge you to do the same) and got a Meghan Markle publicity blitz but no info or a website for the Welcome Project per se.

And on the Archewell website this is all there is:
https://archewell.org/program/the-welcome-project/
(again no link to the causes the Welcome Project supports…). Almost as if the causes are less important than the patron…

Edited

Now yes that is a very observant point.

Not a mish mash. For anyone who cares the context of the recall to the February event, it was this.

The duchess met many of the women here in Venice Beach during a cooking event in February, and I’m struck by the easy conversation they share as dishes are passed around the lantern-lit tables in the garden at Our Place, a woman- and immigrant-owned cookware company

She attended an event. She didn't cook any food if you read the charity articles. It's really that simple.

From X. Not sure where the first pic was taken.
A bit like that couple they repeatedly wheel out when they want to talk about losing a child,

Good cause.

No more self-serving than any other royal or celebrity who is publicly involved with a charity:

Thanks for the thread, @OneTealSloth!

It's important not to get distracted by the usual (predictable, repetitive and so damn boring) negative nelly comments targeting Meghan.

The reality is Archewell, the Welcome Project and Mina's List are all doing valuable work supporting resettled Afghan women, and attracting attention to their plight. And to the absolutely awful plight of Afghan women and girls remaining in Afghanistan. I am still traumatized by the recent Afghan laws prohibiting women from speaking to each other in public.

Yep, you read that correctly.

The women at the Archewell / Welcome Project / Mina's List event have clearly escaped from this. But they will have family and friends back home whose lives are still being blighted, if not destroyed by the Taliban.

Some of us are occasionally dip into these boards to highlight important issues. Others seem to be here for a daily dose of dousing negativity at their favourite hate targets, invariably Meghan and Harry.

Best ignored, as most of us do, Meghan and Harry included.

In the interim, hats off to Archewell / Welcome Project / Mina's List for their work supporting these women.

Your first two paragraphs are so unfair. All of your post is actually. I spent an afternoon and evening with a lot of muslim women recently. (and not the first time) They didn't care a damn that I had on a sleeveless outfit, and in fact were most complimentary about it! Please don't talk about her having no respect for a particular culture unless you happen to know that those women were insulted. Which quite obviously they weren't.

You are just scratching around for something to criticise her about.

Tealeavesinthecup · 23/11/2024 15:54

It’s not hatred of Meghan. It’s disgust at her self serving hypocrisy. Everything she does is designed to highlight herself while doing the absolute minimum to help others. She stays just long enough for her photograph to be taken and then disappears back to her very privileged life that she has done nothing to earn. It could all be very different.

Ug! So true!! MM publicity me-machine is out again ... gorging herself on other people's good work to try and bathe herself in their hard work and grief of anyone she can throw a saddle on and ride their wave - she's a disgrace
