The Archewell Foundation hosted a dinner for the Southern California Welcome Project with their partner organization, Mina’s List. Mina’s List spent the past year building community and a safe space for women who have resettled in the U.S. from Afghanistan.

The organisation has helped evacuate and resettle more than 2,000 women leaders through independent and coalition efforts. They applied to become part of the Welcome Project after hearing about Archewell's efforts. "It was the opportunity of a lifetime to be able to partner in that way,"

@TallerSally

"Best ignored, as most of us do, Meghan and Harry included."

You have NO IDEA about this. 😂 @BustingBaoBun would tell you off for making outrageous suggestions or statements even 😂

dogwal · 23/11/2024 16:26

They didn't care a damn that I had on a sleeveless outfit,

If you were there in an official capacity than No, they wouldn't comment because they would be too polite to do it. If you were invited to an event with Muslim women who ARE covered, who are following modesty rules, than it was incredibly rude and insensitive of you to show up with your arms and shoulders uncovered. If your event was with Muslim women who do not cover then it is irrelevant what you wear.

Bachboo · 23/11/2024 16:27

megan does nothing unless it services her in some way

Jewell25 · 23/11/2024 16:33

Inappropriately dressed again. She doesn’t listen & never learns. It’s just so cringeworthy at this point.

@BustingBaoBun

You are not the thread police telling people what they can and cannot post.

Which I haven't done. I have disagreed with a post and explained my reasoning.

Don't you dare criticise what I wore. You know nothing about me or my connection to these wonderful Muslim women many of whom I know well. I was holding the event actually and we discussed outfits. So just back off.

What does your post mean and why are you tagging me? I have no idea

Absolutely, she repeatedly shows she doesn't care to consider what it is to be appropriately dressed in any given situation, she has no regard for social or cultural sensitivities. It's all about her.

Baital · 23/11/2024 18:38

My experience of working in cross cultural situations is that everyone gives each other some slack. But being on the conservative side - given that is usually the minority - is appreciated.

As a woman, cover shoulders and knees. It's no big deal, most of what I wear does anyway.

Men in most cultures have ankle and wrist length outfits in formal situations, so if anything are more covered up!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/11/2024 20:18

Great cause blighted by Meghan's PR, there is no ugliness or criticism projected onto the women helping their community, the criticism is Meghan using their efforts for her personal PR at her own convenience

Spot on, @dogwal, though even I'm incredulous that the Archewell site contains no link at all to the initiative (what was that about them being "partners" again?)

The whole ethos of these visits is - or should be - to make it more about "the cause" than yourself, but sadly Meghan's shown repeatedly that this is completely beyond her

completely this

Viviennemary · 23/11/2024 20:57

It does seem a good cause. But I wouldn' t support anything Meghan was involved with. Now if she was still on official royal duties somebody would have advised her on appropriate clothing so gaffes like this would be avoided.

isitsnowingyett · 23/11/2024 21:07

@BustingBaoBun you make many comments but always claim never to understand when people refer to you. It's an odd situation.

Here you go again telling people what they can say or not 🤷‍♀️

Hmm but would she have listened ? When she undertook a visit with the late QE2 an aide advised her to wear a hat . She didn’t.,

isitsnowingyett · 23/11/2024 21:11

@BustingBaoBun

As was

" Please don't talk about her having no respect for a particular culture unless you happen to know that those women were insulted "

Sorry but this is not an opinion. You are literally saying " don't talk about her"

Overtheatlantic · 23/11/2024 21:14

More salty threads about a woman you don’t know who is supportive of other women and great causes. She married her Prince and got away from salty Isle. Why are y’all still mad?

isitsnowingyett · 23/11/2024 21:17

Do you know her personally? @Overtheatlantic . If not then you are in the category you try to describe.

Salty. Hmm.

How about throwing in 'sardines'?! Although anchovies go better with 'salty'

I know, right!?!?

It's just so funny. In 10 years from now they'll still be nattering away and gnashing their teeth at Meghan (if they have any teeth left by then, of course...)

😂

You are right. Most people would go for the middle ground.

Ditto, @Baital; IME it's unlikely anything would be said, but that doesn't mean it's not noticed - and, as you say, appreciated when discretion's used

TBH I'm a bit surprised such a worthwhile endeavour encouraged Meghan's involvement at all. Obviously I get the "raising awareness" thing, but it's not as if she's even tried to do that via the Archewell site, and with her self-interest being so widely known I'd have thought there were better choices they could have made

I wouldn’t worry about people’s teeth as H &M will be long divorced in 10 years time and Megan will be even more insignificant than she is now.

As the mighty Eric Cantona once famously said, “When the seagulls follow the trawler, it is because they think sardines will be thrown into the sea, y'all”. <nods sagely>

Lindy2 · 23/11/2024 23:13

Why do her clothes always look so crumpled? Nothing is ever ironed or properly fitted. It's bizarre.
