He's Mette-Marit's son, Crown Prince Haakon's stepson, I believe.

Am glad they're taking this seriously.

Poor MM, but most of all I hope the woman he is accused of raping has a lot of support and protection.

Thanks for the correction I’ll see if MM can change the title 🙂

Im just reading more about him. He seems a nasty piece of work. It’s not his first time involved with the police 😡

Interesting piece from AP: https://apnews.com/article/norway-crown-princess-son-royals-arrest-8c980cc15851b6eab2093f22edf67dfb

Clearly these were his choices and not his mother's, but looking at her background too - and especially the links with Epstein - I wonder if all the Danes who objected to her joining their RF in the first place had a point

Exactly : Norweigans, that is.

I really hope the family did not cover this up. I don't think this immediately discredits ALL the Norweigan royals Andrew-style.
I DO think it raises serious questions about Haakon & Mette-Marit specifically though.

According to Wiki : 'Høiby was born on 13 January 1997 at Aker University Hospital in Oslo[12] to Mette-Marit Tjessem Høiby, then a waitress, and Morten Borg.[13] His parents were not in a committed relationship 'but after a short affair, Mette-Marit became pregmsnt. A few months after Marius was born, Mette-Marit entered into a relationship with a "life artist"[16] In 1998, Mette-Marit ended this relationship and raised Marius with her new partner, until the couple separated a little under a year later in early 1999.[16][14]' (she met Haakon after this)
So Marius is Prince Haakon's stepson, and was never an official royal.
There is other worrying info though : Høiby has invited members of the Hells Angels criminal gang to events at his home at which Mette-Marit received his guests. Drugs were consumed.[39][40]As of 2025, Høiby does not have a diplomatic passport. In 2024, media stated that he had abused the privilege of holding a diplomatic passport.[42]
And this : In 2024, Mette-Marit had been accused by media, of evidence tampering in the government's case against Marius; ][76]
Mette-Marit has been accused of warning her son about his impending arrest and witness tampering.[78][79]
Høiby is referenced several times in the Epstein files in conversations between his mother and Jeffrey Epstein. When he was 15, his mother and Epstein discussed pictures of naked women she wanted to give him.[80][81]

It sounds to me like Mette-Marit & Haakon may well have committed suspicious actions at the very least (and the Epstein mention!). The rest of the family - will knows? It is unlucky Haakon is the heir- if I were Norweigan I would probably be a Republican if the choice were this couple...

Carla786 · 07/03/2026 10:26

Apparently the king of Denmark has also appeared in the files but it was to do with meeting a friend of Epstein's at a dinner.. And Sofia of Sweden allegedly met him a few times though again, no indication of any wrongdoing on her part- being an ex glamour model and Love Island-type show participant (Paradise Hotel I think?) may have made her attractive to Epstein.

I think Mette-Marit can be more directly compared to AMW, as she is the royal.

From the Wikipedia extract (can't read the Norwegian links) -
Ongoing links to Epstein (I think initially downplayed?)
Hosting the criminal gang - was this in an official residence?
Accused of warning her son/evidence tampering - are these formal accusations or just allegations in the media?

Good points, I need to check these. It seems increasingly similar.

Re the Norweigan articles- does Google translate not automatically offer to do them the way it did for me?

This list contains the original 38 charges at the start of the trial and how he plead to them if known.

2 additional charges have been added in recent days relating to a DV incident and restraining order breach on the weekend before the trial started

Generally he has plead guilty to the less serious charges and not guilty to the serious ones

In Norway you can plead partial guilt - where you admit to part of the incident or you admit it but deny content

I feel so sorry for the elderly King of Norway who is unwell and just seems like a humble and lovely man.

Yes, he doesn't seem to have done anything wrong. Poor him & poor Queen Sonja- I think he's 88 and she's 87, or possibly they're both 87.

It sounds like a similar situation in some ways to the UK monarchy : a first generation who do a reasonably good job afaik , then a second generation who tarnish via various scandals, and hope for renewal in the new generation: in our case that will be William but I think some may increasingly look to George & also Charlotte & Louis for a completely fresh start given the ongoing William-Harry issues. The Norweigans have Princess Ingrid as their potential fresh start for the monarchy.
Whether that will work remains to be seen. I think maybe the Norweigans should try to pass the crown directly to Princess Ingrid, who is 22 right now. Mette-Marit is I think also quite ill with COPD and will need a lung transplant. The whole situation seems like Haakon's succession isn't a great option.
