Mette-Marit’s son arrested for rape

Marius Borg Hoiby, stepson to Crown Princess of Norway, has been arrested on suspicion of rape.

Four years is not enough. That's the worst royal family followed by the British one, filled with rapists and weird members. The the Norway family takes the prize. Mette Marita is also terrible person and Haakon as well, for choosing to bring this woman to the throne, what was he thibking?

Very much agree! Four years does seem too light a sentence considering there were forty charges against him, he displayed such violence and that he drugged then raped most of the victims.

Also disappointing for the victims that he didn’t have to appear in court in person or even appear on screen! That’s shocking!

I hadn’t read much about this case beyond the headlines up to this point and I wrongly assumed he was about eighteen and there were one or two incidents.

But he has engaged in six years of hideous abuse and he is almost thirty! What the hell went wrong with his upbringing? I’m guessing as a step son he wasn’t quite royal enough to have been properly monitored and checked but he was royal enough to have become rich and entitled?

Mette Marit is also terrible person and Haakon as well, for choosing to bring this woman to the throne, what was he thinking?

I don't know what he was thinking, @OneFancyBird, but I'm aware there was a lot of adverse comment among Norwegians when she arrived on the scene - and the briefest glance at her background and choices suggests they'd perhaps got a point

I keep wondering what's going on that family. Other than Haakon marrying Mette Merit who is a terrible person, a party girl who married a trafficant and turned friends with Epstein (and who knows else)... His sister, the princess married that shaman who has aids and is clearly a grifter.

I would suppose that royals would be smarter than that, out of all people in the world, with all the education... they decided to marry the worst. It's quite worrying honestly.

Some of the middle eastern ones are worse.

I find it fascinating exactly how Mette Marit, a woman from a disadvantaged background, who didn't complete high school until her 20s and who was passed around drug gangs where she was the victim of domestic violence, actually came to be in royal circles to meet Haakon?

What exactly was her connection to Epstein? Perpetrator or victim?

I find it too. Her background is all wacky. She's the trashiest royal, but Haakon found it awesome.

As for her connections with Epstein, she was his close friend and made business deals with him even after he was caged first time. She simply didn't care that he was a sex offender. If you want I can find some sources later, it's all very gross. Which says a lot of her morals. And explains how her son turned like that. Though it says a lot of her husband enabling it all, too.

I have similar musings about Sofia of Sweden who also had a decidedly non-traditional background and posed topless for men's magazines in her teens. She also had some Epstein contacts and it is unclear how she gained access to royal circles.

Well it's basically confirmed that princess Sophia of Sweden was an Epstein asset. If Mette Merit wasn't directly a sex worker she probably had connections with Epstein's underworld; and was so morally failed that she found totally normal to hang out with him and the alikes. Her ex was a trafficker, and most like him unfortunately, don't traffick only drugs. It's very possible that she is indeed a plant, it wouldn't surprise me.

I know it seems really odd in Britain - but in Norway convictions and sentences do not become enforceable immediately they are pronounced in court - but instead they can only be enforced after the appeal window closes some weeks later.

Based on the appeal the defence lawyers wanted him completely released but the court refused and would only agree to house arrest. I believe he is appealing the 2 rape convictions.
