Just that.

Mike Tindall is definitely having a dig. It is easier for men to marry in than women, there is less media interest and criticism. Zara is also way down in the succession. However it sounds like he is talking on a family level.

Mike is in the news because of his podcast book which is released end of October. The Good, the Bad and the Rugby podcast started in lockdown and is now nearly 300 episodes. I think Mike and Zara are an interesting study of how half in, half out might have worked for Harry and Meghan. M&Z aren't perfect, but they seem to tow that fine line, just about.

The Mike Tindal thing is definitely a dig. He's had quite a bit of coverage the last few days. I think I read something about him having a book coming out.

I can see him and Zara doing a bigger royal role in the next few years.

He called Harry a Bellend or something similar not too long ago.

They aren't working royals though.

They aren't working royals though.

The main problem with the version of half in half out that the Sussexes wanted was that they wanted to live in the States. That was never going to work. They also wanted to attend events such as galas and state occasions as senior royals, and to represent the Monarch. The Tindalls don’t do that and I don’t think they ever would

Needanewname42 · 15/10/2024 08:19

M&Z are an example of how H&M could have worked outwith being working Royals maintaining decent relationships with the rest of the family.

But M&Z haven't tried to cash in on Royal connections.
Or at least if they have its with out selling the family secrets and discussing things that should have remained private.

I dont think Harry would ever have done those things were it not for meghan. She has played him for a fool.

Needanewname42 · 15/10/2024 09:07

I'm tempted to agree, she has played him for a fool.
I'm sure lots will come out in the wash. They will throw some amount of mud at each other.

CathyorClaire · 15/10/2024 10:18

I guess it takes one to know one 🤓

I hope the Tindalls don't get wheeled out to plug the gaps. Just as grasping and venal as the rest but better at flying under the radar.

Mylovelygreendress · 15/10/2024 10:29

Mike and Zara ( like W and C) dated for some years before getting married so he had time to get used to the Royal Family .
Mike does a huge amount to support Cure Parkinsons ( his Dad has Parkinson’s) . It doesn’t make front pages but people who are involved with the charity know how much he does.

EdithWeston · 15/10/2024 10:31

The Tindalls both have solid sporting achievements, so a fair amount of what has come their way might have done anyhow.

I don't see them ever becoming working royals, though I guess they might be at the odd garden party, race meeting and of course be at the occasions where the whole family turn out.

I have always thought that Mike only gives gentle, affectionate and occasional comments of royal life because he knows he'd have to face the ire of his MIL if he went too far!

Mylovelygreendress · 15/10/2024 10:34

When they did the podcast with William , Catherine and Anne it all seemed very good natured and relaxed .
I would LOVE to know Anne’s true feelings about H and M .

Needanewname42 · 15/10/2024 10:39

Mike's not stupid.
Harry is prime example of what happens when you say nasty things or repeat private information. You'll be frozen out which isn't good for anyone's relationships.

Everyone has their moments when they think WTF about their in-laws but you choose carefully who you moan too.

I don’t know . If Harry returns to the Royal fold he will be told to adopt the never explain never complain attitude.
Of course Meghan is a different story although she may have to sign a watertight document to get a decent settlement and keep her title.

Yes, they are all very comfortable and easy together, and they appeared very close considering it is the spouse of a cousin. I would love Anne to open up too.

I think if any of the RF did a tell all in a similar spirit to Spare, it would totally eclipse the sales of Spare by multiples. Can you imagine some of the promo headlines, 'what really happened in our family'. 'the inlaw from hell' 'what Harry is really like'. 'why we don't miss Harry and his wife'.

That's one way of dealing with it.

The other is highlighting domestic abuse and controlling behaviour etc etc. Isolation from family and friends, giving up everything to make the marriage work.

JADS · 15/10/2024 17:58

I get on well with my cousin's spouses. They are lovely people. We organise a yearly cousin meet and sometimes see each other for certain events. While their not my best friends, my cousins would definitely call me a bellend if I was behaving like one!

KCIII seems very close to Zara and she and William are close in age. I always get the sense that Zara is the daughter Charles wishes he had. Over the last few years, we have seen him and Anne support each other. I do think M&Z moniterise their royal connections, but it is secondary to their sporting careers.

You Tube has a whole genre of US-based You Tubers being filmed reacting to pretty much anything: the British royal family, Harry & Meghan, British comedy like Monty Python and Dick Emery, you name it.

If you analyse the number of views, they do seem to go up significantly when the You Tuber focuses on showing clips of and talking about the cultural phenomenon that is Harry/Meghan and reactions to them.

I've watched a bit of the output from Dylan 'Winning Communication; Jen Real Housewife; the Sidley Twins; HG Tudor; Proper Wiseguy; the Royal Rogue; PDina; Beebs Kelley; and watched many videos from Lost Beyond Pluto (and the Plutonium Show) from Australia. Pluto is head and shoulders above the rest, IMO.

These videos can seem pretty repetitive. I've said this before on another thread, but I think they jumped the shark when they started interviewing each other, and I suspect a few of them move among us, getting ideas for content - as do a couple of Mail journalists that I haven't mentioned.

However, the You Tubers do seem to be sent or able to unearth archive clips and photos that are of cultural interest, so there's that I suppose.

This board is also the home of paid saccharorum, I suspect.

A couple of British YouTubers are good; Celt Views and Avid Gardener

Should also say sorry I said HG Tudor was US - he's UK! And his accent is very beautifully well spoken NW Eng, I think? Prolific output.

Avid Gardner seems to have been through a great deal with the modus operandi saccharorum.

Meanwhile, just to show the madness that is out there that the Sussex Squad cultivates, a UK til tokker who is a big proponent of #Where’sKate actually saw her in the flesh over the weekend. They both went to watch their young children play football fixtures - Kate was there with Louis. The til tokker snapped a photo of Kate (all bundled up and with a hat on) and commented that you could spot her security team, but Kate was trying to be low-key.

But then she went on a whole discussion about how she doesn’t believe in coincidences and that she’s feeling quite paranoid that this was a set up (presumably in an special palace op to try and persuade her personally that there’s no conspiracy here…?) while meanwhile commentators were asking which Kate impersonator she thought it was… Southport or Windsor Castle investiture?

My sympathy for Meghan isn’t high, I have to say. How Meghan can pontificate about online abuse without addressing what goes on specifically in her name by people she has endorsed is quite something.

I finally saw that TikTok post yesterday, and now, in the comments someone has challenged her on where she got the photo because he actually took it, the one she claimed she took, he said he had shared it in a private WhatsApp group. She replied that she used it because the one she took wasn't as good as the one he took. 🙄 But she was at the match and took a photo,..

He then asked her where was the match and what team Louis was playing on, and she totally sidestepped all his questions with a comment about not giving out private information.

By the looks of it, she was nowhere near the match, but has gotten a load of publicity off the back of claiming it was her photo. She hasn't shared the photo she took to prove she was there.

Another crazy anti Kate psycho.

That sort of thing must be terrifying for her.

I have just seen the Tiktok post. That woman is bonkers. Absolutely bonkers.

Interesting celebrity blond gossip on X

'Apparently, the growing rift between the alliterate one and her husband began shortly after the big funeral. The alliterate one didn't think her husband fought hard enough to try and get some of the private jewelry left to the sister-in-law of the alliterate one. She wanted him to put up a fight to get some for herself. He didn't.'

ThePoshUns · 16/10/2024 21:37

Wouldn't surprise me.

If that’s true, it’s plumbing new depths.

Mummyoflittledragon · 17/10/2024 05:11

Gosh, if true, that sounds awful. Just checking, they do mean aliterate as in able to read but doesn’t? I’ve been rather confused there as alliterate is also a word, well a verb.
