Meg’s era of joy

Triplesec · 06/10/2024 22:40

Showing up to support her very close friend who lost her child and also the children’s hospital at an evening gala. What a friend to have in the Duchess. Meghan was glowing, fresh faced, wore minimal makeup, was confidant and smiley. She was well spoken and supportive of the evening fund raiser when interviewed. Show Up, Do Good. Yes, she always does. Loved her look too.

How do you know how long the POW has stayed at events.

At every event she goes to? I'm sure that she doesn't stay at some of them for hours and hours. They do a brisk meet and greet.

I remember a documentary where charles showed himself going to to three events in a day. He literally walked in, shook hands, looked at a few things and walked out.

You're comparing a Head of State, or future Head of State, to a private citizen who has no real job?

BigWillyLittleTodger · 07/10/2024 11:07

The usual tired old tactic to try and shut posters down. FYI doesn’t work anymore, you need a new angle, and please come up with something more original than but but Andrew!

Whenever I read comments like this, it's obvious to me that the poster hasn't got the first clue about modern Britain, and probably gets all their 'knowledge' of the country from weird Twitter accounts.

People's nastiness to Meghan is disgusting sometimes.

If the Princess of Wales showed up to a hospital event, she would be called kind and caring.

If Meghan goes, she is called "lacking in self awareness, embarrassing and wanting attention'

Do you ever think that you should just grow up, and stop attacking women?

They'd be doing it for very VERY different reasons though, you can't compare the two

BunnyLake · 07/10/2024 11:23

You can’t really have an era of joy can you unless it’s retrospective. I can’t book next month to be my era of joy can I as you never know what life might throw at you. And how can this be her era of joy when she’s been getting flack from all sides about her dictatorial manner, which is damaging her already dubious reputation. It’s just a buzz phrase that really doesn’t mean very much.

MummyJ12 · 07/10/2024 11:23

Roundthemoon · 07/10/2024 10:33

Or maybe it's because the POW is white , British and suitable, and Meghan is divorced, mixed race and American.

Are you one of those in the hate Kate brigade? Is this why?

These kind of posters would be the first ones criticising the mention of Meghan on a Catherine thread. They complain of double standards ironically. The hypocrisy is off the scale, as is their own prejudice and bias.

I don't see any human being as worth more than anyone else.

Everyone is of equal value.

How can I hate someone I don't know?

I like Kate, in as much as you can like someone that you have never met.

She seems a nice, kind, polite person.

Serenster · 07/10/2024 11:24

Kate has attended - and hosted - several fund raising galas for the charities she works closely with over the decade she was Duchess of Cambridge. So far as I can tell from the coverage, she stayed for the whole event.

Well if I started endless threads about LC describing her in loving, romantic and sensual terms, then that would be a fair question from you, as I haven’t, your comeback is rather lame, better luck next time.

😅😂🤣
Lame haha!

You do keep bringing her up so it is a fair question!

I really hadn't seen the OPs 'endless threads' started by her.... strange

Human beings’ roles differ, though. Quite a bit.

That's great, but out there in the real world a Head of State is a vastly more important individual than the wife of the 5th in line who once played a paralegal on a cable TV drama.

OctopusFriend · 07/10/2024 11:25

"Era of Joy" sounds a bit Maoist. You're all compelled to believe this statement and behave accordingly.

Is he more important? Why?

He didn't do anything to earn becoming King.

It was handed to him.

Royalty is old fashioned.

Democracy is a better system.

5th in line.

You're talking like Harry's only worth - is how near he is to the crown. He's a human being.

He doesn't care about that.

I remember some reporter said to Harry "oh after George's birth, you're now lower down the line of succesion".

Harry said, "Great!'

Well, the only reason anyone here cares about Meghan is because she married the King's younger son, who also didn't do anything to earn his fame, wealth and status.

As for 'democracy', again, it's striking how little some posters here know about Britain. It's not the Tudor era anymore you know.

She seems very inoffensive and pleasant to me.

The differences between the two women (and no it’s not race) is Kate doesn’t speak in word salads and buzz phrases, she doesn’t litter her speeches with me, myself and I. Bottom line is Kate is not a narcissist, Meghan very clearly has narc traits. Show me one piece of footage in all the years Kate has been with William where she’s pulled or pushed or nudged him to one side so she can get in front first, just one. If someone asked to see a dozen or more of Meghan, easy to do.

He inherited it. Do you not understand about the UK monarchy?

In the real world "royalty" is seen as old fashioned.

How can a person be "royal" . Someone decided ages ago " this one family will now rule over the country forever and ever".

It's old fashioned

He's a human like us.

Harry would be lucky to get a minimum wage job if he were not the King's son.

Meghan would be just another ageing minor actress.

Not even her most unctuous fan girls here would give a toss about her if she hadn't married into the royal family.

You're not making any sense. You asked me 'what did harry do to get all the privilege'.

First.

Then I said back "what did the King do to get all the privilege" to point out that he King has done absolutely nothing either

And you then said "he inherited it"

So why did you ask about harry then?

Obviously you know Harry inherited it aswell

I think there is a lack of understanding on here about the monarchy. For the confused, here is a link to the House of Commons library.
The King is a monarch, which is inherited.
Harry is his son, so inherits the title Prince.
His wife uses royal styles and titles.
