Meg’s era of joy

Showing up to support her very close friend who lost her child and also the children’s hospital at an evening gala. What a friend to have in the Duchess. Meghan was glowing, fresh faced, wore minimal makeup, was confidant and smiley. She was well spoken and supportive of the evening fund raiser when interviewed. Show Up, Do Good. Yes, she always does. Loved her look too.

That Meghan is. As ever she is blowing up X too with her latest lending of support and making headlines. 🤗

It must be hard seeing comments actually liking her and writing in more glowing terms than the usual comments on here that seem dragged out of a sewer.

It’s easy. If you don’t like her leave the positive threads alone. It only shows yourself up if some people are so obsessed with dissing her that they see everything through their lens of dislike so cannot say anything nice or pleasant nor stand to see Meghan positivity.

Thing is, just from reading the first two pages (I admit I have not read further), if you banned the nay-sayers you'd be the only one on this thread.

I'll read further now and come back to apologise if I've missed positive posts from others...

You missed mine. I wrote a positive post.

How do you know how long the POW has stayed at events.

At every event she goes to? I'm sure that she doesn't stay at some of them for hours and hours. They do a brisk meet and greet.

I remember a documentary where charles showed himself going to to three events in a day. He literally walked in, shook hands, looked at a few things and walked out.

We know because these sorts of gala dinners are public events, and widely reported on.

Can you name a single one when the Princess has left without attending the full event?
It would have caused a huge stir at the time it happened, so should be easy to unearth (except it won't be, because it's never happened).

Edited to add: trying to compare planned short engagements is not relevant. Unless you can show that there is a real example of Charles arriving at 3 gala dinners in one day, and not actually attending any of them beyond arrival photographs.

I'm not sure about the POW as I've never seen a documentary about her.

However I've definitely seen a documentary about Charles going to events.

It showed him, going in, saying a few words, and then leaving. Before the event was over. No one cared. They thanked him for coming.

They were happy that he made an appearance at all.

So it's not bad behavior. Why should people have to stay for the whole event?

hepsitemiz · 07/10/2024 10:44

My apologies, Roundthemoon!

Roundthemoon · 07/10/2024 10:46

She looks happy lately. And harry looks happy. That's the most important thing

OK. Missed that - can you link which events?

Were they gala events?

And, to get back to the comment that I responded to originally (about reaction to Princess of Wales doing the same) - has she ever only shown up to a gala event for arrival photographs?

And that will have been planned with the Palace and the British Security Services to military precision, he is the Head of State, you comparing the King’s planned public engagements to Meghan rocking up for a red carpet photo then clearing off once the paps have their shot is ridiculous.

I'm not sure about the POW. I don't know. As that's not what I said about her. I don't know if the POW has ever left an event early, and I don't claim to know.

I said if POW went to a hospital event. They would call her kind and caring. No one would even check how long she stayed.

She never gets talked about like that.

Probably because people are more afraid of the people around Catherine. She is more protected. If you insult her, you'd have the Prince of Wales and the King of England to deal with.

I do wonder if Megan and Harry see people like the op and the completely agrressive fawning and feel really disturbed. I mean let’s face it in real life you’d be getting a restraining order if someone you didn’t know was this obsessed with you and behaved like they knew you.

it’s hugely disturbing. I guess it’s the price of fame.

op do you mistakenly feel you’re doing her a favour? What’s your motivation? Surely you know you come across stalker like?

I think it's more disturbing to spend your time obsessively searching out positive threads, to be negative about people you dislike.
Weird........

Yes, dear surviving Meghan fans - hear ye, hear ye! If you banned the critical posters, you'd just be having a 2-way conversation, wouldn't you? And that's fine, but not on MN, which is a forum, supposedly tolerant of, and able to cope with, differing viewpoints.

Honestly, these 'positive threads'. They are laughable. Let's have a positive thread about...I don't know...the First World War??? Those officers' uniforms were so dashing! And the moustaches....cor!

If you want a blinkered fan-club where Meghan is God and can do no wrong (for she is infallible) please try Celebitchy. You'll find what you want there! 😁

I do give Spectre some rather pathetic brownie points for Persistence in the Face of Overwhelming Odds, but I haven't replied this time because I couldn't understand the post, and didn't like to intrude on private grief.

Serenster · 07/10/2024 10:57

Just turning up for the photos seems self-serving, though I can see why the organisers were glad of the extra publicity - assuming that the name of the charity also sticks (particularly in the more local community) rather than being lost as just backdrop. From the UK, it's backdrop; so the total effect is probably rather more off to this audience

I’m not sure if this event is the kind of small charity fundraiser that needs the publicity that a visit from Meghan will bring though - unlike her friend’s charity tennis tournament in September, to which her and Harry’s attendance was I’m sure a huge boon.

The Los Angeles’ Children’s Hospital gala seems to already be a big deal. It’s held every two years by the look of it. Going back pre-Covid and pre Meghan living in LA the 2018 function was hosted by Jimmy Kimmel with Bob Iger (Disney CEO) and other stars like Heidi Klum, Josh Gad and Teri Hatcher in attendance. It picked up again post Covid in 2022 with Chris Pine, his dad Robert Pine and Justin Timberlake hosting/performing. The Governor of California and Michael Buble also supported the event, along with Jimmy Kimmel and Matt LeBlanc. These are not small potatoes…

(also worth noting that the charity itself wasn’t promoting Meghan’s appearance on their red carpet. After mentioning the hosts, the presenters of awards - like Jamie Lee Curtis Kaley Cuoco and Colin Hanks - and award recipients they wrap up their coverage on their website by listing 17 “additional attendees” Meghan is 12th on that list. So they presumably don’t see that as a huge coup).

CoffeeCantata · 07/10/2024 10:58

So it's from Meghan's lips, is it, the Era of Joy label? I must try to keep up - I though it was OP's idea.

I was watching Maggie Smith (RIP) in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie at the weekend - what a woman - and what an actor! Perhaps Meghan is telling us that she's 'in her prime'! And we know how that went...

MattDamon · 07/10/2024 10:58

She looks very... surprised. Would she have really had a brow lift?? How bizarre.

Attelina · 07/10/2024 10:59

If I was M&H I think I'd be more disturbed by the equally obsessed people who think M should be driven naked down the street having excrement thrown at her.....

You admitted on here earlier you do not like Meghan. So basically your comments are criticism it's just nasty mean girl bitchy comments becuase you don't like her. That's what people do when they don't like someone they say nasty things about them. At least own it instead of pretending it's just criticism.

Or maybe it's because the POW is white , British and suitable, and Meghan is divorced, mixed race and American.

The usual tired old tactic to try and shut posters down. FYI doesn’t work anymore, you need a new angle, and please come up with something more original than but but Andrew!
