Apologies if there is a thread about this.

I haven't watched Scoop, because Netflix won't work on my old TV box so I have no idea how this compares. I watched all 3 episodes and found it bizarre. I did like that it didn't include any royals outside the York family.

What struck me the most was how sheltered Andrew's team must have been to think him doing an interview was a good idea. I'm just a member of the public and I wouldn't have advised him to speak for himself going only by what I read about him before Epstein was even heard of. Why on earth would anyone advise him to do this? Why did they think it had gone well? And why has he not just retired out of the public view and accepted there is no way back.

The arrogance of some people is astounding. I don't even think it's a royal thing but more a monied sense of entitlement, although ironically he didn't seem to have much money.

Anyone else seen it?

I am sure if someone dropped £25,000 or £750,000 into my bank account, I might just be asking where the money came from.

Yep.

Utter disingenuousness from the pair of them but inexplicably they seem to slide under the radar effortlessly.

The entire York family are the original grifters.

CathyorClaire · 07/10/2024 21:17

Also Amanda Thirsk, thrown under a bus here,

Thirsk wasn't thrown under a bus. She scored a substantial severance settlement and was retained as chief executive at the entrant skimming Pitch@ Palace. It later transpired the 'charity' had breached charitable law in regard to payment for her services.

All the more astounding when charity work is apparently a major part of the royals' raison d'être and given the expert advisors they have on tap.

Didn't Andrew use Pitch@Palace to scam a load of money out of those start up companies in return for 'networking' too? The whole thing is incredibly shady, and because they are Royals and have sycophants like Thirsk working for them, all this gets covered up.

Yes I think that was the case.

Pitch @ Palace was one of his most blatant scams. And there have been a few given who he used to mix with. He had the Trade Envoy rug pulled from under him by Mummy, and so Pitch became his next scam

Andrew set up his own private company alongside pitch @ Palace and was creaming off a percentage of any business done. He set the whole thing up to enrich himself at the cost of hard-working entrepreneurs he was claiming to help

Seasmoke · 08/10/2024 09:36

I think Mummy was forced to end the trade envoy scam because ministers said he was causing so much harm to Britain's trade interests. Andrew was awful for a long, long time before Epstein, and his mummy and the forelock tuggers blew smoke up his arse for a long time. Makes you wonder what the rest of them are up to if he was enabled to this extent.

BustingBaoBun · 08/10/2024 10:13

Oh yes. We know nuffink. Although the Monarchy are for all intents and purposes, a public body, they are not subject to the FOI so it's all smoke and mirrors and hidden as much as possible

Just occasionally a clever team of journalists work for years and uncover quite a bit about the monarchy that we did not know. Plenty of links on the guardian website.

It is a very unpopular opinion to be positive about andrew, for obvious reasons, but even now there are defenders of him on here

Seasmoke · 08/10/2024 10:23

Yes I don't believe there is much difference between any of them, including Harry. Harry moaning about his family (which basically boils down to ' Oh I want all the privilege without the scrutiny' whereas the rest of them know their existence depends on them kowtowing to the press) Andrew has remained loyal to the family so has not committed the ultimate sin.

CathyorClaire · 08/10/2024 10:25

Well we already know our unelected HoS thinks nothing of taking millions in cash in plastic bags to support his vanity project.

Another demonstration of his very poor judgement.

Well...yes. and mark my words, when that became public knowledge with the Harrods bags of cash, and they all went into a complete tailspin.... You can bet your bottom dollar they would have been saying to themselves "how on earth did this get out, I thought we got away with that one" because they all do what they like and it is mostly covered up

Yep. Why we don’t have a referendum on the monarchy I do not know.

Do tell us - what exactly was it that was wrong in that transaction? Apart from the newspaper insinuating it was dodgy, I mean. What was the actual dodgy part?

It’s that (edit) not (!) simple though constitutionally I should imagine. Charles isn’t just HoS of the U.K.
if there is a referendum I hope it’s better thought out than the last shitshow which I don’t think has ended up particularly well for the uk.

Nothing apparently. Charles' representative assured us accepting bundles of cash in holdalls from a controversial businssman was absolutely fine and normal, nothing to see and the Charity Commission agreed. Nice and cosy and fortunately we can rest easy having been assured it won't happen again.

But. Do you think accepting vast untraceable sums over several private meetings from questionable figures is a good look for anyone let alone someone who we already knew had fenced unwanted yet valuable gifts back in the day?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 08/10/2024 18:17

seems like we should all be in agreement on how jolly awful Andrew is, otherwise we are dammed!

I mean, this board is full of Andrew apologists. They usually start with accusing a 14 year old of willingly engaging in sex work with middle-aged men. You could put forward some counter arguments about how he is completely wonderful and how none of the things mentioned here are shady in the slightest.

jeffgoldblum · 08/10/2024 18:31

14 year olds? Who ?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 08/10/2024 18:38

but surely this thread is meant to be about a specific tv programme?

I haven't seen anyone defending him - correcting assumptions perhaps, but not defending him!

14 year olds? Who ?

Just so you know

Andrew spent a LOT of time with Epstein, a man who had three 13yr old triplets girls shipped in for his pleasure

That is NOT saying Andrew partook in that but it is the sort of man he liked to mix with
