Apologies if there is a thread about this.

I haven't watched Scoop, because Netflix won't work on my old TV box so I have no idea how this compares. I watched all 3 episodes and found it bizarre. I did like that it didn't include any royals outside the York family.

What struck me the most was how sheltered Andrew's team must have been to think him doing an interview was a good idea. I'm just a member of the public and I wouldn't have advised him to speak for himself going only by what I read about him before Epstein was even heard of. Why on earth would anyone advise him to do this? Why did they think it had gone well? And why has he not just retired out of the public view and accepted there is no way back.

The arrogance of some people is astounding. I don't even think it's a royal thing but more a monied sense of entitlement, although ironically he didn't seem to have much money.

Anyone else seen it?

Aren't both their husbands loaded? Why would they need their perpetually bankrupt mother to buy a house for them? Knowing the Yorks its something shady.

I'm not convinced the hanger-on hubbies are loaded.

One sold Tequila and the other's company accounts are filed with exemptions under the small business rules.

Prince Charmless was once listed as the third richest royal and we know he trousered wads with side deals as trade envoy. We also know he used a government backed shell company to hide said wads and that the trade envoy records will remain sealed until he's safely gone.

He's a devious git and I'm not buying the penniless prince bull.

I did feel sorry for Beatrice and Eugenie in the narrative though. Obviously we don't know what they think but I can imagine it's hard to believe these things of your father and the dawning realisation it might be true must be awful.

I don't feel sorry for Beatrice and Eugenie or Sarah Ferguson.

Sarah Ferguson is profligate and has never been able to control her spending despite earning millions from Weight Watchers/ books/ flogging stuff on shopping channels in the US/ inheritance and living off Andrew. I don't yhink I have seen anything as desperate and vulgar as her drunk, flogging her links to Prince Andrew to the Fake Sheikh and making the 'Gimme the money gestures' with her hands. She took money from anyone she coukd get it from to pay iff her debts- repeatedly. Why she us allowed to live rent free and with so many advantages in a Crown Estates property is beyond me.

Beatrice and Eugenie invited Weinstein and Epstein to their 18th and 21st birthday parties and accepted gifts of very expensive jewellery from them. Before their marriages they both lived like their mother- on the backs of the wealth of other people. Andrew has many times 'made money' from doing nothing for shady super-rich people- for example the sale of the falling down house in Sunningdale for millions over its asking price after it had been on the market for years. It was bought by a Kazakhstan businessman friend of his who was happy to pay millions extra for a tasteless, badly built, falling down house, and just flattened it. Beatrice and Eugenie were happy to accept the gifts and live off the money. I doubt they knew about his other repugnant behaviours but you don't need to see much of him to see what a pompous oaf he is.

Makingwaves2 · 06/10/2024 23:40

Beatrice’s husband is a Count is he not?

MrsLargeEmbodied · 07/10/2024 05:50

i felt sorry for sarah, living with andrew like this, sticking by him. what an awful life.
and their poor daughters.
as regards Andrew listening to his father? unlikely in any family surely? but yes he reaped what he sowed.
How could he behave like this?
Also Amanda Thirsk, thrown under a bus here,

BustingBaoBun · 07/10/2024 06:26

Sarah has been divorced from her ex-husband for 30 years now. Nobody is forcing her to live with him. She could be living independently elsewhere, anywhere. She does so because she wants to live on a royal estate.
The reasons for that are many I would imagine. Money, connection with the royal family, prestige, more opportunity to flog her Mills&Boon books, it didn't work living in America....
I don't feel the slightest bit sorry for her

MrsLargeEmbodied · 07/10/2024 06:31

we dont know why she lives with him!

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 07/10/2024 06:32

I find their relationship odd if I’m honest. They clearly still care for each other but haven’t remarried. FWB? Or just friends? Or partners? The set up is just weird!

Beatrice’s husband is a Count is he not?

He's an Italian ' count' so a count of a country that no longer has a RF but has a bunch of people wandering round still using their titles generations later. Maybe he serves as a terrible warning to our Royals of what will happen to them if they stop opening shopping centres.

BustingBaoBun · 07/10/2024 07:32

MrsLargeEmbodied · 07/10/2024 06:31

we dont know why she lives with him!

Agree, we don't. We can only guess, but you have to admit it's odd to be living with your ex husband after getting divorced 30 years ago!
Maybe all will be answered if he gets shoved out to Frogmore Cottage as Charles wants... bit different to a 30 room, 90 acre Royal Estate... will she go with him there?!

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 07/10/2024 07:56

Well yes @BustingBaoBun the whole set up is odd!

MrsLeonFarrell · 07/10/2024 08:07

MrsLargeEmbodied · 07/10/2024 06:31

I agree that the set up is really odd. I wonder if it's as simple as she loves him?

This is blatant gossip but at the time they split the rumour was that she found him in bed with another man. No idea if that is true but I do believe that something happened that fractured her trust at a time when she was finding the long separations difficult. She then left him, got embroiled in scandal and couldn't change her mind about the divorce even if she wanted to.

So maybe she does love him, even if just as a very close friend, but can't marry him again. There don't seem to be any stories of them dating other people which is also strange.

Being an ex royal wife does seem a difficult position. I wonder whether it would have ground Diana down eventually as well.

But she was the one who cheated on him? She didn’t leave him, they were forced to divorce following pap shots of her with her lover ( toe sucking scandal) . She behaved disgracefully.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 07/10/2024 09:02

and what was he up to when she was papped

I agree she behaved badly. We don't know though whether she was the first to cheat, just that she was the first to cheat publically.

Infidelity is of the least concern to the royals, it's insignificant. It only bothers "below stairs people" as Mrs Alan Clark so charmingly put it. However, if anything appears in print then it's suddenly the end of the world and a charade of betrayal is called into play. They have their own bewildering rules.

LuluBlakey1 · 07/10/2024 11:38

Makingwaves2 · 06/10/2024 23:40

Beatrice’s husband is a Count is he not?

Not in any real sense. It's an Italian title that comes with nothing in terms of rank or status. She can't use the title here officially.

LuluBlakey1 · 07/10/2024 11:47

MrsLargeEmbodied · 07/10/2024 08:34

yes i think she probably does @MrsLeonFarrell
plus she Now must feel awful for him.
its a sad existence for her

Yes, a sad existance living in a Grade 1 listed country mansion and acres of land, paying no rent but living in luxury, with security and all the privileges of living in Windsor Great Park in a Crown Estates property- his cars, the horses, access to Windsor Castle and the Royal Family, surrounded by hundreds of acres of beautiful countryside. Sad that she owns a multi-million pound pied a terre house in Begravia, travels everywhere first class, skis in Switzerland at the homes of wealthy friends, stays in Tuscany for weeks every year at the home of an ex-lover. Sad that she now attends Royal Family national events- with all the status and freebies all of that gets her in London society- holidays at Balmoral and Sandringham. That poor woman!

Sarah Ferguson has always been prepared to sell anything about herself for money. She has no real self-respect or dignity. She knows exactly what she does. Life was handed to her on a plate when she married Andrew and she messed up. She's very lucky he is such a stupid man but I imagine there is a price she is very willing to pay.

BustingBaoBun · 07/10/2024 12:19

@LuluBlakey1

Absolutely

Sarah has always been on the make and the video of her pissed and selling off her husband to a sheikh ...in a crass "give me the money" way, showed her for exactly what she is.
She has shamelessly profited from an ex-husband of 30 years and the money and goodwill of other Royals. She doesn't care as long as she can live in splendour on our ticket

AutumnCrow · 07/10/2024 12:57

Eugenie and Beatrice have been alleged to have benefited from their parents' arcane financial practices, wittingly or unwittingly.

You can drop the URL of this link into the archive.ph website to read the whole Telegraph piece - although the free bit that's not behind the paywall pretty much gives the gist.

Irrespective of these allegations and the associated case & settlement(s), I can't abide any of the York family. Vacuous, snobby, f**king grifters.

Exclusive: Claims Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie received money from Turkish 'fraudster' linked to Prince Andrew

Duke of York's daughters dragged into multi-million pound fraud case involving Selman Turk, the investment banker

Neither Princess Beatrice nor Princess Eugenie are believed to have had any knowledge of their parents' dealings with Mr Turk, nor knowingly corresponded with him in any way.

I am sure if someone dropped £25,000 or £750,000 into my bank account, I might just be asking where the money came from
There was also a diamond necklace from some dodgy ME oligarch.
"Daddy, it's beautiful, I love it!!! Thank that kind man you do business with! I'm going to wear it at dinner tonight!!'

They are all as bad as each other

Yes maybe wilfully ignoring evidence that is blatantly staring you in the face is an hereditary trait?
