On their Instagram.

Surprised tbh, thought I read they wouldn't acknowledge it.

Maybe they are channeling Michelle Obama: when they go low, we go high.

Well, they must have been protected because I never knew all the horrible stuff about Harry that's come out since, from his own mouth.

Okay I believe 🙄

Read Spare. If you can bring yourself to, read some of the interviews as well.
He Spares us nothing. Todger details included 😳

Yes he said in his book that he was lonely.

So what if he had friends.

He didn't have either parent.

He said that Charles was a very uninvolved parent. And that once he married camilla, that he barely saw Harry.

He said a lot of things in Spare. A lot of "his truth" - have you read it? He literally prefaces it as "his truth". Much of it is provably false. Even if he was lonely, so what? He's a grown up, it was up to him to make a life for himself, with the considerable resources at his fingertips. How many people in their 20s and 30s are hanging out with their dad?

Yes but presumably the Waleses would have had the say so on sending wishes. They probably chose an older one because it is a nice photo of him smiling. They probably don’t have access to any more recent ones that they can post 🤷‍♀️

Of course they would have a say so, but they would also have been given advice on optics, sentiment, etc. and then based their final decision based off of that - it wouldn’t have been either of them just posting authentically. There are plenty more recent photos in the public domain that they could have used - using one just ‘because he is smiling’ doesn’t make sense, there are loads of him smiling even within the last year they could have used. Choosing to use one when he was still undertaking royal duties is a deliberate choice, they know how it could be interpreted and that people will read into it. It’s why PR is such a big business. I’ve worked with the royal press office on more than one occasion, this stuff is incredibly nuanced and purposefully so.

Lots of people in their 20s and 30s see their dad, and have the support of their dad.

I just went on a night out with my cousin. She's 26. Her dad drove an hour at 3am in the morning to pick her up, as she couldn't get a taxi to bring her home.

I'm saying I can see why Harry moved to the USA. He wanted a new start and happiness

TooBigForMyBoots · 15/09/2024 14:19

And he saw his dad too. And had his support. Particularly financial. One of his Spare stories is his dad going to see him at one of his training bases. Harry then fantasies about killing him. That's nice.

So he wanted more time with his family, but decided the best thing to assuage his loneliness was to travel to America to live with a wife who has cut off all but one member of her family. He's not too bright, is he?

Did you miss the part in spare where harry wrote that Charles was not a good dad. he wrote that charles was very distant and unemotionally involved with Harry.

Did you miss the part where he wrote that once Charles married camilla, it became much worse after that, that he contacted Harry very little.

Of course he was going to go to the USA with meghan, who loved him.

She is his wife. Her extended family are not important. If she doesn't get on with them that's up to her. As you can see on mumsnet, many people don't get on with their families, it's not unusual. Sometimes people have great families and they're lucky. Other people have abusive families. Why should they stay in touch with them.

It's meghan that's important. And now their children

BunnyLake · 15/09/2024 14:35

It’s better they do than don’t, even if done through gritted teeth. I don’t doubt the RF worry about Harry even if they’re furious with him.

When I was 26 I had no parents. Others have parents, but they aren't in touch. That's life.
Harry is an adult. He's more privileged than most. Time he acted like one

Yet expected his father to constantly subsidise him so that he didn't have to rely on his mother's millions. 🎻

Yeah the point wasn't even about who has parents, and who doesn't.

I just wrotr that I can see why he went to the the USA.

Him not having parents was just one factor.
The other factor was the bullying and hatred in the media.
And also the lack of privacy and normality that he had in the UK

He has now been able to live a more normal life in the USA.

So he speaks to the media, leaks to them and tells intimate stories about the RF?
I'm not sure how that helps, just to stoop as low as he has.
Still, it's made him millions, so good luck to him.

Yes. However, he didn't go and live in the USA and slag everyone off. Tiny difference.

Don't they all speak to the media?

I recall every one of them doing media interviews

Once Harry moved to the USA, he wasn't subsidised anymore though was he. So how is that point relevant .

What's interesting to me is that no one wished him a happy birthday last year. So is this just something they do for big milestones? Or is there more to it?

I’m pretty sure it’s milestones. Or at least it has been since H&M went rogue. No need to publicly wish them happy birthday every year but milestones probably still need acknowledgment just to appease the critics if nothing else.

IsoldeWagner · 15/09/2024 14:47

Anyway. Harry is 40, it's nice of his brother and sister in law to recognise this and send him wishes.
Harry clearly loves the headlines and being in the media, the clicks, the pictures, the tours. So I hope that continues for him, if that's what makes him happy. Celebrity.

BunnyLake · 15/09/2024 14:47

Hoopper · 15/09/2024 11:20

Its not hard to be the bigger person. It throws light on the other.

Maybe they are throwing a life raft after the whole MM bullying accusations have collapsed his life like a house of cards.

Have H&M sent birthday wishes to C&W over the past 5 years?

Recent sources said the PH was still witing for an apology from PW before he would consider stepping up to help out the RF.

He didnt specify what the apology was for tho.

And yes very Michelle Obama - she actually gave a very smart interview after the OW interview which was not supportive of H&Ms approach.

No one’s even asked him to step up so he’s got a nerve saying only on the proviso he gets an apology.

He was. The Duchy of Cornwall accounts show this. Well into their phase of seeking quasi royal celebrity.

I didn’t read Spare but I did see endless headlines for weeks pulling apart large section of it as being fantasy.

IsoldeWagner · 15/09/2024 14:49

It's worth reading, @FuzzyDiva . I know much of it isn't true, but it gives an insight into his psyche. (There should be a trigger warning on todger parts, though).

Abbylikeswine · 15/09/2024 14:51

Its interesting to see another royal family member has married someone "controversial".

Did you see that Princess Martha Louise of Norway recently married a man who calls himself a shaman.

I think that some of those royal family members get so bored of being around people exactly the same as themselves. That's why they marry someone who us very opposite.
