Hollywood Reporter - Meghan and Harry

Why Hollywood Keeps Quitting on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle (hollywoodreporter.com)

Why’d they all leave? What explains the churn? “Everyone’s terrified of Meghan,” claims a source close to the couple. “She belittles people, she doesn’t take advice. They’re both poor decision-makers, they change their minds frequently. Harry is a very, very charming person — no airs at all — but he’s very much an enabler. And she’s just terrible.”

Would you work for Harry and Meghan? Ex-employees say run away.

I don’t know how he couldn’t see all of that in her character and demeanour before he married her

He was too desperate. People do it all the time. She’s not a patch on Chelsey but he couldn’t keep her.

Eldrick47s · 13/09/2024 19:10

The prime issue has always been that she comes across as being unpleasant.

That is the top and bottom of it.

She comes across as self absorbed (their marraige saw "South Africans dancing in the streets akin to when Mandela was released" apparently). The car crash of the Oprah farce with lies galore, none of which the amateur that is Oprah challenged. On one podcast she threw all African people under the bus when she mentioned her ugly frizzy hair as a child..yes because straight European hair is the benchmark for beauty. She is tone deaf.

Harry is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. This is an individual who thought it was funny wearing a Nazi uniform to a party. It is logical then that his choice of a partner will not be the wisest either.

The media are bloody awful, we all know that. The DM especially. But media coverage is a side issue. The crux of the matter is she doesn't come across well.

MM pulls some really disturbing faces in this clip from Invictus last year (see from 7.13 in the attached video).

Her behaviour is really odd at times.

Eldrick47s · 13/09/2024 19:18

*btw I used the term 'comes across' as it would be unfair and inaccurate to be definitive on this.

She could be a pleasant character, but we haven't seen much of that.

There are just too many incidents that we have seen, as well as reports from various people that knew her (people now discarded from her life as they no longer serve a purpose for her), to just ignore.

The more she talks, the worse the perception of her is.

Uricon2 · 13/09/2024 19:35

I think Meghan is a bit of a chameleon who will change to fit what she thinks is needed at the time. The trouble is, she's not very good at it and we have examples such as when the lady in SA was trying to tell her about her losses through HIV. M appeared disinterested and kept trying to attract the attention of the babies, because she thought that would look better. It just looks fake and very shallow.

It also sits ill with the persona she seems to want everyone to believe in, Daina Mark 2, an intellect and a humanitarian. You dont get to be a humanitarian by saying that you are, there is no kind of magical thinking that can make you so. She should say much less and (quietly) do much more, but I don't think that fits with the real aim. In Tom Bower's book (reading it a bit late) I was very, very struck by a statement she made on The Tig, that in her life refugee camps and red carpets can coexist. I don't like this statement and although I know it is true of people like Bowie, Geldof etc who have actually done some stuff to benefit the world, it sits very ill from the lips of a small time actress with delusions of philanthropy, trying to puff themselves up for gain.

And in the Netflix series both she and Harry really emphasis how happy they are that Lillibet is a blue eyed blonde... 'blue blue eyes'.

Serenster · 13/09/2024 21:38

I think Meghan is a bit of a chameleon who will change to fit what she thinks is needed at the time.

That really struck me if you look at this video - Meghan is at a mid-season promotional event for Suits and the reporter who is chatting with her asks her whether she thinks in real life she’s similar to her character Rachel Zane. Meghan replies that the fact that Rachel Zane cries all the time is a major difference as that’s not how she herself reacts to things. (I think this is the long version of the clip PP mentioned? - at the end Meghan “playfully” tells the reporter off for looking at people over her shoulder).

Fast forward a few years and Meghan it seems is suddenly often to be found by Harry sobbing inconsolably (bridesmaid dresses, after a trip to Wholefoods, before the Oprah interview, in a closet in Vancouver, several other instances filmed for Netflix etc etc not to mention tearfully noting no-one’s asked her if she’s okay in South Africa. What was it someone was saying about the damsel in distress?

Omg that's so shitty. What a bitch. My dh is of North African/Middle Eastern heritage. When I had my dd, I quickly knew she had inherited more of her dad's genes than mine. I was happy as I love my dh. I have brought her up to value her curly hair, brown eyes and olive skin. She is 16 and really does value it. The idea that it would have been better to have inherited the white skin etc makes me so angry.

JSMill · 13/09/2024 22:01

I should add I know people in mixed marriages who are happy their dcs inherit the characteristics of the white parent. That absolutely dismays me.

Smirke · 13/09/2024 22:02

I also think that her the performative hystrionic crying fits and throwing herself on the floor were new behaviours to ape Diana's reported dramatics and intended for her target audience of one person - PH. Dont think anyone else has reported seeing her throwing herself on the floor sobbing? She knew this would trigger him enough to whip him up into anger so she could manipluate him to do her bidding.

Jesus she just talks so much, never stops. The interviewer is bored. You can't get a moment to step in .

JADS · 14/09/2024 00:00

I'm not buying the rewriting of Harry as 'charming'. Spare showed us he isn't, he's petty and entitled.

I wondered if the source was actually from the palace as an attempt to rehab Harry for his return to the fold. Maybe the Spencers are acting as intermediaries?

Absolute speculation of course. It's also interesting that the last week has been one long positive puff piece. It's obvious why now. The HR piece is brutal.

Reading this thread is so depressing. Why so much hate for someone that you don’t know?

Also have you had a conversation with Harry in real life? I have, he was charming.

Ah bless you

Meghan’s current word of the day is Joy and it seems Charming is being bandied about for Harry. I’ve read more than once these last few days that’s he’s ‘charming’. There’s been some right horrors in the past who have been described as charming.

It’s easy to be charming when it benefits you.

Edited

She’s a chameleon because she doesn’t have a personality of her own. She absorbs traits of other people. Her clothes, her speeches, her behaviours are all taken from other people. She doesn’t have an original thought in her head, even this ‘joy’ nonsense she’s been coming out with lately is borrowed from other sources.

She’s a fascinating example of someone with no genuine personality of her own. I can’t fathom how Harry tolerates her. As awful as he is, he did at least have his own personality (once).

Strong speculation is, it is a current or recent ex-employee, or one of the agencies they use, who is the source.

I can see Harry being quite affable until Meghan is involved, pushing and shoving him to do it her way.

I’m pretty neutral towards Meghan and Harry, apart from being glad they are trying to generate their own income, but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with that interview at all. She was playfully charming in it and doing her job.

Maybe she was crying later when she joined the RF? She was pregnant and post-natal for a good chunk of her stay in UK.

The clash of cultures between Californian actress with all the freedom, self-determination and hustling that involves v British aristocrat where control, inherited wealth, and tradition are the watch words, would have been pretty stark. It would have created many frustrations on both sides.

Some posts on this thread are honestly as bad as the tabloids, particularly the ones criticising her facial expressions. We would all look bad if reporters put us under that level of scrutiny. Photographers and YouTubers are making money providing unflattering images of Meghan and posters are gleefully adding fuel to the fire? Pretty grim imho.

~ Waits to get flamed for being a member of the Sussex Squad, which I am not, because you cannot hold a pro- M & H opinion on these threads without being a member of some whacko group apparently!

MagdaLenor · 12/09/2024 22:20

Harry is a charming person? He hides it well.

Behind the closed doors of the RF he was projected as a cheeky chappie, but now he's out of that circle and on his own he's showing his true colours - entitled, stupid, spoilt little windbag who can't actually do anything for himself - total puppet for MM

Oh what a surprise!

That does lend it concrete legitimacy then?

🙄🙄

Sparklywhiteteeth · 14/09/2024 08:16

I’m also amused to see it in the dm, and that Harry and Megan declined to comment, clearly no action will be taken against this. But Megan must be furious. As she’s now being globally reported as a nasty bully. And Harry her enabler.

I suspect there is strong truth in it, and they both know the truth of it, so there will be some form of pr campaign of her being nice to people less fortunate, lots of hugs and shoulder touching to be done really.

it also makes you think about the stories about her and Kate, it is very likely in my view she was the problem. And it goes way back to the rumours that the queen had to tell them Megan wasn’t to speak to the staff as she did, but to treat them with respect.

its an ongoing theme, that Megan bullies and belittles people and it’s been reported for years now, its not going away. Its getting worse, especially with their staff constantly resigning,

And yet, even back on her own territory, she seems to be making enemies too.

Seems it's not just the British upper classes who are finding her a nightmare to work with.

Twistybranch · 14/09/2024 08:23

It’s so damaging. It’s branding her as difficult to work with, from a respected industry magazine.

If ever there was a reason for her to sue, it would be this. She owns a production company, clearly her work will be affected by this report.

However, as said above, they know they can’t sue because it will be true. So they have to sit there are read the headlines like everyone else
