And it’s good to try new things and be open to different approaches. It would be one thing if this type of video was ALL they did but as part of an overall communications package/strategy I think it was very successful.

As I said not only did the vast majority like and approve of it, it dealt with the needs of the press in a way that was satisfactory to individual publications while having complete control over the message and delivery. I imagine it was a lot less stressful for Kate than having to record the previous statement to camera.

Also, back to the health aspect of this, I don’t think the impact of this on William can be underestimated.

He went through a life defining trauma at a young age and then had to grow up in the public eye with the whole world discussing that trauma. And to go through all his significant life stages without his mother.

It must be unbearably triggering for him to contemplate George, Charlotte and Louis treading that same path.

Totally agree, Wordler. And this is one reason I cannot understand the hatred towards William on SS sites, and from SS supporters who stray on to MN. They swallow Meghan's malicious slur that Catherine made racist remarks (since refuted pathetically by Harry), and while I don't believe for a micro-second that Catherine is a racist, that at least explains their antagonism towards her. But William? As you say, he is their idol Diana's son too, and has gone through as much, if not more, than Harry, yet they say vile things about him which would make your toes curl.

I agree. My husband has cancer (early stage) and it's actually quite frightening and depressing to read posts blathering on about how most of the population don't get proper cancer care, unlike the "pampered" Princess of Wales! Good luck to her - she's had a rotten time, and not just from her illness, as we know.

Stop with the scare-mongering. Up to now we've found the NHS fantastic and I hope others her do too.

Personally, I didn't like Kate's video, which I thought was a wee bit saccharine and schmaltzy. However, the fact that it has inspired such a spiteful reaction among certain folks is making me think it must have done something right. Some people are well triggered by it.

It’s not really my thing either it’s too “instagrammy” for my tastes, but it’s obviously touched a nerve with a lot of people so it’s funny watching the meltdown!

Are you really implying that Catherine is guilty of racism (again, it's not clear) here? Even when Harry has tried desperately to backtrack on this and deny he and M ever accused her of it? Also - are you honestly suggesting that a) Meghan is a reliable source of info on Catherine and b) that a conversation musing over the colour of a baby's skin (in that context) is necessarily racist? That ground has been gone over ad nauseam, but so many people in mixed race relationships have said that happens all the time, is completely normal and doesn't imply racism. But the main point is: would you trust Meghan to be fair to Catherine, whom she had to walk behind all the time, whom Harry was very, very close to before he met her, and who's going to be Queen one day? I wouldn't - Meghan is absolutely consumed with envy of her, and would do anything to do her down.
