She has released a video to state that she has completed her cancer treatment.

Quite a few shots of her left hand but no sign of Diana's ring. Instead she's wearing what looks like a new eternity ring. Maybe William has given her a new ring that's just for her?
The gossip and innuendo around her photoshopped photo did include comments about her not wearing her ring so maybe this is a subtle response.

Pickwickbasketcase · 09/09/2024 20:32

Some on X has put the Succession theme tune on as a backing track to the video and it works shockingly well ;)

ParisGellerFTW · 09/09/2024 20:34

Wow, yes, very produced and a bit like an ad. BUT I like her and think she means well and is just what she seems to be, so I'm glad she's on the mend

It's just the way lots of videos are on Instagram at the moment. They use that style for selling coffee and running shoes. I don't think there is anything to read into it.

I saw it on Instagram and it looks far less designed/ produced because it fits in with all the other things there. On here it looks strange because this is a text site, if that make sense

I hope more than anything that i am wrong.

I understand what you’re saying because it crossed my mind that the POW cancer was worse than we’d been initially told. I had a very rare cancer that was caught at stage 1a and a massive surgery was all treatment I’ve need till now and the things she was saying about staying cancer clear etc sounded to me her cancer hadn’t really been found at a very early stage. I can’t explain it though because I’ll put my foot in my mouth and unintentionally say something wrong.

I hope you are well nowFlowers

Bontonbonbon · 09/09/2024 20:47

Thread like this are a great litmus test for posters. Even if you don’t support the monarchy you should be able to be happy for someone announcing they don’t have cancer.

Some posters are shown rather more of their inner workings than they might care to have known.

A really lovely uplifting video. Lovely to see how comfortable and loving as a family they are.

I was trying to work out what card game they were playing with Catherine’s parents.

The only thing that made my eye twitch was her saying “William and me” and not “William
and I” but that’s probably just me.

Hope that she continues to go from strength to strength and is able to make more precious lovely memories with her family.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 09/09/2024 20:59

And still some on here can’t resist having a dig. I’d hate to be a bitter misery.

Newpillow · 09/09/2024 21:03

I think it's a lovely video . There's nothing like looking at your own mortality to make you appreciate being alive and the simple things we take for granted, family, friends, nature, being happy. This covered all these things .

I'm glad for the family. But I saw them on that pile of logs and just thought - H&S nightmare - think of what happened to Elizabeth Walton!!

I thought that! There are always signs saying 'keep away' and ' do not climb' - imagine if the kids had been buried in logs!! 😱

myrtleWilson · 09/09/2024 21:04

@Purrcats "william and me" is correct, though?

The statement is 'This time above all has reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple things in life....."

So you remove the "William and" bit of the sentence and make it first person and it is either

"This time above all has reminded.... me to reflect...." OR

"this time above all has reminded .... I to reflect....."

Happy for her and her family.

It appears she didn't lose her hair; that must have been a massive relief.

Don't blame her for keeping the diagnosis private but one can't help be curious. It seems a missed opportunity to become a champion for treatment and research.

I'm sure she can champion causes without giving away personal info about her health.

Thedom · 09/09/2024 21:05

I can understand why people think it looks like an ad, they do look like models, William and Catherine extremely attractive couple, and three beautiful and photogenic kids, topped off with a stunning location as a backdrop .

It must be sad when you live a life so devoid of feeling and altruism.

Recently been diagnosed so I've just sobbed through it.
Her words really sounded heartfelt and I'm sure lots of people will take comfort from her words.

She's lucky enough to come out the other side, I hope I'm as fortunate

I hope you do too. Wishing you all the best. 💐

outdamnedspots · 09/09/2024 21:08

@Purrcats - The only thing that made my eye twitch was her saying “William and me” and not “William
and I” but that’s probably just me.

But 'William and me' was correct in that context.

William and I would like to thank you for all the kindness you have shown us.

And

Thank you for all the kindness you've shown to William and me.

MaxandMoritz · 09/09/2024 21:08

Didn’t she say ‘This time has reminded William and me’, which is perfectly correct. You wouldn’t say ‘It has reminded I’.

At another point she said William and I, also correctly as the subject of the sentence.

thecrossiamwearing · 09/09/2024 21:08

Oh but her hair
Oh but the pile of logs
Oh but the dress
Oh but the intimacy
Oh but the accent
Oh but the style of filming
Oh but anything I can drag up in my double edged post while pretending I am really a nice person....

Yes, in that particular sentence “William and me” is absolutely correct. She also uses “William and I” correctly, further on.

Nowt wrong with her grammar!

Hey, how about just being nice then?

It makes sense if she said “This time has reminded me” but sounds wrong to my ears when you put the William in front of that. Might be how my brain is hearing it!

Appreciate hearing others thoughts on that sentence, gives one something to think about. 🙂

BESTAUNTB · 09/09/2024 21:18

It made me feel a bit sad and uneasy. A PP referred to “memory box” and I think I agree - even though she didn’t look frail and sick in the film. It just felt a bit mournful to me but others on here have said the opposite - “uplifting”.

I would have favouured a video/written statement I think, but I’m maybe not moving with the times. I’m also mindful that statements haven’t worked out that well in the past so she maybe wanted to try something else.

Im not a royalist but I am genuinely glad her chemo has finished and that she’s looking stronger. Fingers crossed.

It was actually grammatically correct. The relevant bit is "...reminded William and me".

You wouldn't say "...it reminded I", you'd say "...it reminded me".

DillDanding · 09/09/2024 21:29

I read the transcript. She said ‘Willian and me’ when it was grammatically correct and ‘William and I’ when it was grammatically correct. I despair that people do not know the difference.
