Utterly hilarious.

Yes, relaxing family time with a professional cameraman 😂
Believe that (or that it was due to Queen) if you wish...

Living up to the name….you sound green with envy. They are a happy family, putting out a public video, in part because of the insane conspiracy theories just a few months ago.

😂😂

Or to discover it was an American advert for life insurance.

Is that the next conspiracy theory? They're American insurance brokers?. Nothing would surprise me.

This feels very much like a H&M super fan thread

Girlslikepearls · 09/09/2024 19:17

From the bbc article: “Kensington Palace has indicated it is not possible at this stage to say whether she is cancer-free.”

Kensington Palace will have said NOTHING.

It's disingenuous of the BBC to suggest they have. Typical of the BBC these days.

Just look at the wording you quoted...

has indicated- that means they've not said anything. I KP had said, that would be very different.

What KP has said is nothing. They are not confirming or denying anything.

Which is as it should be.

“As the summer comes to an end, I cannot tell you what a relief it is to have finally completed my chemotherapy treatment. The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family. Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown."

Also, it’s a lovely video of Catherine and the family. I liked it when the kids were talking into the camera to see if it was on and filming.

Oh it was wonderful, I got tears in my eyes

MrsPerfect12 · 09/09/2024 19:21

Lovely video

CurrentHun · 09/09/2024 19:25

I wish her well. She’s perfectly entitled to make her own update video if she wants- I can imagine it’s very important to her to take control of her own narrative. Good for her.
She comes across as very calm and thoughtful. I hope she will fully regain her health in time.

I bet this video has been carefully orchestrated... what is curious is why the amount of PDA is shown, when before they have barely touched each other in public 🤔

Apart from in the similar video that they released for their 10th wedding anniversary 3 years ago you mean? Also filmed in Norfolk by the same photographer, and that (shock, horror) showed them hugging each other. As they did in their official photo relesed then too.

Almost like they act professionally when at work and only sometimes let the camera into their private lives.

(And they also touch each other a lot when at engagements together - there’s plenty of video footage of it, but it’s more a demonstration of them being close and in sync than PDA)

Re the comment about the video should have been in a cancer charity etc. I think there probably will be videos like that in the future, but for now the personal and family focus matters because cancer impacts on the family. As she said in her statement "life as you know can change in an instant' and that applies as much to the children as it does to Catherine. I think that recognition of this being a shared but personal journey is important.

Yes I do see that but I kind of agree with pp comment that they are not celebrities who people follow for their own sake, in terms of their role in the monarchy anyway, their role is inextricably linked to service.

If you film a very personal idealised video of yourself and your family imho it’s a risky strategy, because the focus is on you and not your work, and that is something K & W have objected to in the past. So there is a conflict right there, especially when they come up against the less salubrious branches of the press.

Also, should the idealised image turn out to be not so ideal in the future at any point, they expose themselves to a greater “fall”.

I’m sorry for them both for what they have had to endure but, given the state of the NHS atm, the waiting lists for cancer treatment, and the number of operations postponed or cancelled , I think it is unwise to project such a slick, idealised film; which strikes a slightly discordant note imho, like they are too cloistered and haven’t quite read the room properly.

I’m afraid that’s my opinion but maybe younger royal watchers will love it. I know my views are old-fashioned.

It was a very different official RF video and I loved it, trying to work out exactly where it was filmed (definitely North Norfolk near the coast)

In some respects, I think it is quite a droll way of responding to the barrage of criticism of her poor little photoshopped picture on Mothers Day, so good for her/them.

Holkham beach maybe or Snettisham.

Alifemoreordinary123 · 09/09/2024 19:31

I thought it was beautiful and moving. Whilst seeped in privilege, they’ve had an undeniably rough year.

Many posters have said before that cancer treatment pathways are the same both privately and through the NHS, though. It doesn’t mean she will have had any different treatment or that what she has undergone will be any easier. I don’t think it is insensitive. She isn’t drawing attention to the treatment she did or didn’t receive. Just the fact that she has finished her chemo 🤷‍♀️

I hope she continues to recover and I hope the same for anyone in the same situation

Thedom · 09/09/2024 19:47

Beautiful video, and as stylised as it is, I don't think it comes across as anyway pretentious.

It shows some lovely authentic family moments, simple and important things like sitting around the kitchen table playing cards with the grandparents. It's obvious they are a tight unit and genuinely tactile with each other, Louis reaching over and stroking Catherines' arm is adorable. It looks like the kids have a wonderful and idyllic outdoors life in that beautiful countryside, the beach looks incredible. Would love them to do something similar at a big family event in Balmoral with all 3 generations.

George looks so like Princess Diana running out of the sea with his hair wet.

Catherines looks gorgeous and her dress is fab.

There are certainly a lot of new names making mean comments. I would have hoped people would have learnt a lesson in March but apparently not.

SuperFi · 09/09/2024 19:51

It was lovely seeing the family so happy and relaxed, and Kate’s empathy for others suffering with cancer was moving.

I had been wondering how she has been progressing with the treatment, so good to have positive news.

On reflection I think the style departure to make a video would not have been chosen if she hadnt recently been extremely ill. It makes me think her experience must have been extremely serious. There’s an element of setting the tone for the future here, showing the family idyllically and a bit timelessly. It has a kind of elegy tone to the feel of it.

She says herself how much her cancer experience has changed her. What a terrifying experience as a mother and so understandably she wants to make the most of her time now. I wish her very well.

I also think it’s absolutely fine if she wants to cut back on her work and just communicate to the public with very occasional videos shot close to home. It’s fine. I really don’t feel ‘owed’ loads of her time in public service any more- cancer recovery is going to be very slow. I hope she is allowed to her spend her time in peace with her kids and husband in private.

What a lovely video! People are always saying the monarchy needs to be modernised - maybe this is part of it as per modern day trends but this " behind the scenes" image is not the first time we have seen it. We've seen it before. The family look happy and so engaged with each other which can't be an easy task when you are a working Royal and in this case heir to the throne.

Yet again so much criticism from certain posters who again show that they don't know much about British life other than what is parroted to them. You don't need to have been touched by cancer to be touched by this - it's just natural human empathy which so many today seem to lack.
