When somebody has lied and completely betrayed you how could you ever feel safe being in their company again without independent witnesses? Hardly conducive to a family get together.
It would be utter madness to give H&M the opportunity for yet more accusations.

I read recently (on MN or DM?) that on turning 40 - which is very soon - he inherits more from his Great Grandmother (late Queen's Mum). I don't think he is that short of cash.

She wasn't THAT rich. With the speed he burns through money, it wouldn't last long if there is still a few million coming his way.

Rhaidimiddim · 31/08/2024 23:48

He is on the cusp of acquiring the last of his secured inheritance. He must be thinking, by now, what happens after.

NOTANUM · 31/08/2024 23:54

I cannot think this is likely.

Even the York princesses do not appear in public with Harry even if rumoured trips to Calif. are true. I don’t think there is anyone actively campaigning for the “half in, half out” approach the Queen rejected.

TeaMistress · 31/08/2024 23:54

He's burned his bridges. He's repeatedly spewed hateful spiteful defamatory bile at his family. He is running out of cash and has just realised that the gravy train is approaching the end of the line. His family want nothing more to do with him and there is no way back after the appalling things he has said. Their grey rock approach is working. Harry and his wife are utterly frozen out as I understand it.

HeddaGarbled · 31/08/2024 23:56

I don’t believe a word of it.

He's an elder abuser.

No, he isn't.
He behaved atrociously towards his grandparents and betrayed his father in print, but he hasn't abused them.

Meghan still looks enthralled by him.

Meghan is an actress.

This in spades, she’s always been good at masking/acting the loved up puppy

I can’t help wondering if after everything that’s gone wrong for her maybe she’s coming round to the idea of a bit of do-gooding.

At least when they’re doing the royal tour thing (even though not royals!) they seem to do quite well. That would help increase her profile in a good way. Finally!

Sticky money mits don’t seem to fit her hands at the moment.

So this is much better PR.

Perhaps more of this sort of thing might save their marriage.

So odd to see it come full circle.

its almost like a King Lear moment in a Shakespearian tragedy. Finally the veil is lifted for MM? Maybe royal fame instead of Hollywood fame isn’t so bad after all?

Bad enough in a normal, private family, where the only people interested in the gossip are your social circle.

But this family constitutes our Head of State and his representatives. H has shown himself unfit for work as part of the HoS team. As President of Rhaidimilad, I'd notvwant to sit bext to.him at a state banquet.

NOTANUM · 01/09/2024 00:01

Name another celeb couple that do the “royal tour thing” though as private citizens? Short of specific UN ambassador type roles focused on specific causes that have decreased in popularity anyhow, I can’t think of anyone else. It makes them look desperate to be seen.

EsmaCannonball · 01/09/2024 00:04

I don't want to pay for any of them but I especially don't want to pay to keep the Duke of Whinger in Elizabeth Arden cream just so he can gift us with his stroppy face and infomercial wisdom. If he tries to come back I say we cut a deal with Kigali: keep hold of the entitled gitface and you don't have to pay back the millions we gave you for the migrants.

Behaving atrociously towards someone is abuse.

We have his own account, in Spare, of him picking a fight with his dad on the dad that his dad's mum died. And reports from both sides of him regularly phoning hos dad for money.

thecrossIambearing · 01/09/2024 00:08

If he believes this he is even more stupid than I thought.

No. Like many things, pop psychology takes some words and uses them for all bad things along the related spectrum.

There's a difference between treating people badly & abuse.

...But it's too late to argue with you, I'm too tired to write out the examples to expand my argument and I probably wouldn't convince you anyway.

The late Queen may have left him something. But as she wasn't stupid, and also she listened when people gave her advice, I assume it will be tied up so he can't fritter it away on futile lawsuits and expensive lifestyle.

Beyond that, the royal family had better have a bloody good strategy in place, because the monarchy's skating on very thin ice with this seemingly endless shit-show.

Oh come on. Harold is constitutionally irrelevant. His tantrums might upset his Pa, but will have no impact whatsoever on the monarchy as an institution.

But , but ……I thought the RF were awful to him ? What about all the things he said about his father , step mother, brother , sister in law , staff ??
Why on earth would he want to return to that ?

This

justasking111 · 01/09/2024 00:38

Meghan's biggest problem is that she never sticks at anything. Ambassador, politics, The new website was launched too quickly when there weren't products manufactured. The books are done, Netflix have milked them dry.

She has a low boredom threshold flitting from idea to idea.

But I don't have any solutions

AutumnCrow · 01/09/2024 00:40

Such a soap opera.

NeverMindTheBackProblems · 01/09/2024 00:41

I do think he misses his old life now that the great shiny new plan hasn't gone the way they thought it would. It's human nature to look back and think what if. But he has burnt too many bridges for that to happen. He might well be forgiven by his father but I can't see it going much further than that.

He's lost his whole social network. People he grew up with, friends he made in the army. His family. No-one in the USA seems keen to buddy up.

What does he do all day, such an empty life, it's very sad.

Theunamedcat · 01/09/2024 00:47

He wants his status back the automatic security etc he has always followed his nan his father his brother now he has to follow his wife? He isnt looking happy about that

He has children (and lives a life of great wealth & privilege), so his life is not empty.

They do seem to be struggling to establish a purpose for themselves, though, at least one that brings them credibility.

Something like this. Also if all those contracts with Netflix and others are at the end they have no income coming in.

And security and their house alone is costing them a lot of money. Then you have salaries they have to pay. And all other costs with their life style.

They could change their appearance, their name, get regular jobs and practice saying "oh, do you think so? I hadn't noticed" every time someone points out they look like royalty. Then I'm sure they could live just fine supplemented by the interest on however many millions hundreds of thousands they have in the bank and still have the capital for emergencies. They can have a normal quiet life if they want it. They just don't actually want it despite what they say.
