I really don’t think there is a ‘contest’ other than in the minds of parts of the media. One brother will be King in time and the other brother wants to leave a meaningful legacy in his own right. So far both are doing a great job in carving out their own lives. I hope the brothers come to a point in time where they can be friends again. Life is too short to hold on to anger. The media doesn’t help by embroiling itself in their relationship - or lack thereof currently. I think many people in many countries would love to see a sense of family togetherness again with all of the current King’s grandchildren getting to know one another. It would show how a public facing family can overcome its own difficulties if KCIII could bring both brothers into line again. It’s time to stop painting Harry as the black sheep of the family. It hasn’t worked, it just drives more dissent and anti monarchy feeling in the younger generation. If we are to have a King William and a King George then the younger generation do need to see the institution as worth holding onto. As Harry is clearly active on the world stage harnessing his global appeal would be an advantageous move by the current King.

@LimeBiscuit you don't think telling the world his brother has been circumcised is an invasion of privacy? It also has nothing whatever to do with his wife's relationship with the royals. His speculation on William choosing Kate for her suitability for the role rather than love is also insulting and if it's in any way true also an invasion of privacy. (And who is to know apart from them?)

I can't believe some of the stuff he wrote - and later said. What an unpleasant, greedy man.

The Royal Family have not yet learned an obvious lesson. If you want to control what family members do, you keep giving them money

That sounds like giving in to blackmail. Would you give money to your family members to stop them spilling the beans on you? And I’m not sure the public would take too kindly to knowing that the RF are using their money to pay people off 🤷‍♀️

Quite! As if the RF try to control all the members?! Or are we back to those conspiracy theories again?....

bitesthedust · 24/08/2024 16:09

LOL
This ppl don’t care about you at all, why do you worry about them?

I don't think that Harry has a huge amount of global appeal to harness. The only thing they were interested in was the fact he was a British royal.
As for GB news losing the plot. Yeah, I also heard Hitler wasn't crazy about kosher food.

@smilesy you are cherry picking and misunderstanding what I am saying.
But no worries. I do not care what Harry or others do. But it is interesting to see the Royal Family keep making the same mistakes again and again.

No. Harry is the first one to leave, cling on to the titles and privilege, and monetise the privacy of his loved ones. Going into unnecessary detail, slating them for minor issues, and going through it again and again with tv and magazine interviews.
Then he had the nerve to complain that Charles had stopped sending him money.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 24/08/2024 16:12

Both Charles and Sophie have said very negative things about members of the Royal Family, and Charles spilled the beans on his own upbringing. But they were both brought back under control

Ah the comments Sophie made when being covertly recorded by the news of the world? These dreadful comments below?

Asked whether the Prince of Wales is not 'too formal', Sophie replies that 'he's always been, he likes formalities in life' but goes on to defend him as a fun and relaxed father.
Sophie: 'He's a man who has always been ahead of his years. He was damned as a complete quack. People laughed at him for his views on architecture but now they're starting to take notice.'
Even on the sensitive subject of Charles and Camilla, she is still forthcoming.
Sophie: 'It's a very difficult situation. On the one hand there's no reason why she shouldn't be accepted because he's divorced and she's divorced, but then again you've got issues of the monarch being the head of the Church.

'I think it's hard, especially while Queen Elizabeth is alive.

So, @BigWillyLittleTodger , no stories about todgers then?

Can't believe Sophie didn't have a story about Charles losing his virginity behind a pub to an unnamed but highly identifiable "older" lady; or about him abusing disabled members of staff at school; or about fantasising killing his father in a training exercise;

Toastbuttermarmaladetea · 24/08/2024 16:32

I thought the problem with moving Andrew is that he has a lease, has spent a lot of his personal fortune on the property and is legally protected as a tenant. He can't just be slung out. I've not heard anything about him writing a book, but if he does, he'll probably be shooting himself in both feet, because he'll be either lying, making himself look even worse wrt Epstein, or spilling the beans on his siblings in some way and thus isolating himself even further both socially and financially. Besides which, he's about to be exposed in a book by Andrew Lownie which is awaiting publication.

Disappointing!

PoppysAunt · 24/08/2024 16:35

@Toastbuttermarmaladetea there's no way Andrew is going to write a book. I suspect that's a "leak" from certain people.

Piers Morgan was apparently really angry that Meghan ghosted him, from what I’ve read. The DM then seemed to make it their job to print stories about Harry & M every single day….even now it doesn’t stop, they are relentless. I feel sorry for them.

I feel sorry now for the royal family too because H&M really connected with the younger people more than the rest of them. It could have been a new golden era for them where they cemented their future with the younger generation. They’ve just made themselves irrelevant by excluding their brightest stars.

💯

💯

Golden era? Brightest stars?
Not really. They were popular because they were official royalty, they were new and different and some of the negatives were not apparent.

They weren’t excluded - they left because they were rightly not allowed Half in/Half out.

allthemiddlechildrenoftheworld · 24/08/2024 17:06

@LimeBiscuit what legacy are harry and meghan carving out??? all they have done is slagged his family off right from day one!! It was obvious that meghan had no intention of staying in UK! why would she invite total strangers to her wedding without thinking that they could be handy in the future? after their talk on winfrey they expected calls from the palace and were gobsmacked when none were forthcoming! She never allows harry to take the lead at any time!! always pushing in front, totally forgetting that she is a nobody without her husband! she is, after all, only a C-list actress!! If meghan is so comfortable in her own skin, tell me why she is not so comfortable in her own natural hair????? hopefully william will never forgive them, just like the majority of Brits!

So is the latest SS PR drive?

Harry hasn't done anything that bad really.

Spare was a sensitive account of Royal life that paints members of the RF in a positive light.

Harry is a real star who is doing global things, and the young like him.

So why won't the RF (I'm looking at you, Wills) unclench and let him have his job back?

(Oh, and the RF should have given him loads of cash and a house; and if they didn't they shouldn't have neen surprised that he wrong a nasty tell-all.)

Did I miss anything?

If he can’t afford the upkeep required under the terms of the lease, he can presumably be legally evicted.

Charles has sent his workmen to Andrew's mansion to carry out work.

You have summed up perfectly the theme through all the sudden tsunami of Sussex fandom threads and posts in the past few days, the squad must be on overtime rates. It’s so transparent.

I do not think Harry should be a working Royal. I think they should all be sacked.

How about working as an unofficial royal?
He's as royal as the rest of them! Should he stop all that?

@PoppysAunt what people do on their own dime, as long as legal, is up to them.

So you like and admire and follow unofficial royalty, just not official royalty?
That makes no sense.
