I really don’t think there is a ‘contest’ other than in the minds of parts of the media. One brother will be King in time and the other brother wants to leave a meaningful legacy in his own right. So far both are doing a great job in carving out their own lives. I hope the brothers come to a point in time where they can be friends again. Life is too short to hold on to anger. The media doesn’t help by embroiling itself in their relationship - or lack thereof currently. I think many people in many countries would love to see a sense of family togetherness again with all of the current King’s grandchildren getting to know one another. It would show how a public facing family can overcome its own difficulties if KCIII could bring both brothers into line again. It’s time to stop painting Harry as the black sheep of the family. It hasn’t worked, it just drives more dissent and anti monarchy feeling in the younger generation. If we are to have a King William and a King George then the younger generation do need to see the institution as worth holding onto. As Harry is clearly active on the world stage harnessing his global appeal would be an advantageous move by the current King.

Is that quite normal. @pearlfritillary . I got the impression that charity patrons are the people that raise a charity's profile and act as ambassadors/figureheads, but as far as governance is concerned, that's down to the board/trustees. How much "liaising" will a CEO do with a patron, as opposed to being the person who steers the charity forward and actually tells the Patron what they should and should not be doing?

@Toastbuttermarmaladetea I don't work in the charity sector so I don't know how much influence a Patron has over governance.

Charles had a very real gripe against his parents they literally left him to the staff to raise and sent him to a school he was ill suited for someone broke his nose deliberately ffs I wouod have pulled my child out of that school but not dear prince Phillip he made him stay it's why he has never been an authoritarian father figure he didn't like it as a child

Perhaps if you understood Prince Philip's life, you'd understand. I'm not saying it was the right decision, but Philip believed that it was. Anyway. As I understand it, there was rapprochement. However, as pp have said, I wonder if that's why Charles was too soft with Harry.

Exactly - Charles had good reason to be upset about his schooldays. Unlike Harry, he wasn't complaining that his brother got more sausages!!

But Harry believed he was born to provide body parts for William. That level of delusionment needed to be handled very carefully - by William- through his not having his own friends and spending all his time at Eton looking after Harry. It's only fair. Also, sharing the throne and all the estates, Narnia like, as Diana would have wanted.

There's certainly a load of tripe about currently. It's probably from the Sussexes to try to detract from the Colombia tour and to put pressure on Charles.

Yes, it's obvious that Harry is Charles' much loved son. No matter what he's said, and how he's behaved, it's obvious that Charles had wanted to make peace with Harry. On accession, he said in his speech that he sent them his love and wished them well. Even in Spare, it's obvious how Charles feels. It's very sad.

Well, they're paying PR firms and publicists a lot of money, so H&M are going to want something in return.
