I have to say I do think it’s a failing on the part of Charles that Harry has turned out the way he has. He’s obviously been brought up with no real insight into his family history or protocols. No understanding of why things work the way they do. No loyalty to his family, no empathy, no insight. No sense of who he is outside that system, just a cypher for Meghan to put her stamp on. It’s quite scary.

Harry wrote in Spare:
“Mr. Hughes-Games believed me to be the odd one. What could be odder, he said to me one day, than a British prince not knowing British history? I cannot fathom it, Wales.”
“We’re talking about your blood relatives— does that mean nothing to you? Less than nothing, sir. It wasn’t just that I didn’t know anything about my family’s history: I didn’t want to know anything”

So maybe not so much Charles' fault after all....

What's with the scruffy boots?

Yes, no idea what’s going on there and they’re tan? And the back a stone colour

I’m guessing the hem on the skirt hasn’t been taken up so she wore them for height? The black thong sandals she had later would have went better but wouldn’t work for the length I guess? So scruffy boots it is

Too true. However. It's much easier to blame Charles. Or William. Or men in grey suits. Or the British press. Because that's far easier than looking at your own attitude and behaviour.

No one seems to know. It’s all very strange. Rumours abound that they are trying to adopt a couple of Colombian children to annoy some allegedly racist relatives and get in good with Angelina. They picked out a couple at a school they went to visit but are a bit peeved that the kids only speak Spanish and aren’t actually orphans.

😂

I expect there was a lot of traffic. Apparently there are some foreign visitors who are driving around in a huge convoy of armed vehicles with police outrider escorts and all the roads are being closed off. Totes ridiculous, but what can you do.🙂

Sounds near-catastrophic.

Can someone tell Harry that his wife is the one on the other side?! 😂

Now, I have a theory on the translator, especially a pretty lady whom Meghan wouldn’t ordinarily have wanted Harry having such an animated conversation with, and when she in general interrupts his conversations or pretends to be participating in them for the cameras. But here Meghan didn’t - she didn’t even look in their direction. But neither was she interacting with the VP save for the odd glance and smile. So my theory: Meghan does not understand Spanish with any level of proficiency that allows her to go it alone without a translator, put clearly has pretended that she is fluent, and hasn’t been given one of her own. She did not want to interact with the translator because, god forbid, a young woman showing that she has more skills than lady bountiful perfect herself - unthinkable! So Meghan was pretending to understand what she was watching and hearing, but really she was basically earwigging everything the translator was saying to Harry whilst studiously pretending to look the other way. The fact that she kept smiling through a depiction of indigenous people losing their land and culture makes me think she couldn’t hear very well!

Thedom · 18/08/2024 10:35

@Twistybranch thank you for that. A good read, the bit about worrying about eventually finding himself irrelevant is very telling, he got there faster than he expected and nothing to do with Prince George becoming more interesting,

From the Archewell website. Insert Kim Jong Un in various places and it’s hard to tell the difference.

Oh what a surprise, he’s been brought there to apologise for the BRF’s role in slavery. Wrong family, Colombians, your beef is with Spain! How about Meghan apologising for the Nigerian royal families’ roles in slavery? The British spent years post abolition of the British trade trying to stop the trade between West African slavers, the Spanish and South America.

I was only waiting for something like this - a hugely weighted topic which I very much doubt Harry has the insight to consider in the round

Best, perhaps, to hope he ddoesn't start yapping about Britain's role in Colombian slavery, forgetting that this one at least was largely driven by someone else, because that would make him look even worse than he already does

That is truly toe curling. Who writes like that? Looks like it was written by Chat GPT, and maybe it was.

OlympicWomen · 18/08/2024 11:01

Harry knows very little, and chooses not to inform himself. However, he does like to make pronouncements, so it wouldn't surprise me if he said something.

This reminds me so much of Meghan’s pal, Melissa MacCarthy, doing an impression on SNL of Sean Spicer, Trump’s first press secretary, satirising the propaganda the administration put out insisting that Trump was super popular. He(she) said of a Trump event: The crowd gave him a standing ovation that lasted a full 15 minutes. Everyone was smiling. Everyone was happy. The men all had erections and every single one of the women was ovulating - left and right!

I just can’t see how they’re making money?

They’ve blown a fortune on a ridiculously massive mansion.
They must be paying for a lot of full time staff, including Nannie’s and security, PR bods etc..
The expensive clothes she wears can’t all be given to her surely?

I know he’s worth a fortune, but how long can it seriously last?
He wrote a book, she’s selling jam and dog biscuits.

I was actually wondering how on earth they can afford it all as well. Their costs must be astronomical, between the upkeep of that mansion and running an office capable of organising a tour. Plus the legal costs of all the lawsuits.

AuroraCake · 18/08/2024 11:41

Hence why they want the security and why he is loosing his shit over it. It massively increases their costs.

Gorgonemilezola · 16/08/2024 10:29

There is a marked difference between Diana's behaviour and Meghan’s behaviour though. Diana didn't push in front of people, or talk over them.

Harry and Meghan’s public relationship never looks like an equal partnership. There is no formal hierarchy in their marriage, but Meghan always seems to be physically and verbally pushing Harry aside.

Diana just had to be. She didn't have to do anything or even try. She was simply a star. Meghan isn't.

“Explored the vibrant street market”

I say darling, did you notice? Masses of weird vegetables , knock off trainers and t shirts, but not a single stall selling delicious jam and hand crafted dog biscuits? I think we could be on to something here, if the President would give us free use of the Presidential jet once a month , we could easily run a stall remotely by paying a couple of locals to staff it. I think bringing delicious sweet treats and healthy dog munchies to an impoverished country with far too many abandoned dogs in it would give the poor Columbian people - with whom as a woman of colour I share so much history, culture and passion - the incentive to make something of themselves . We would be fulfilling the Archewell mission statements of empowering people and giving them both the strength and the impetus to improve and revolutionise their situation through hard work and building on historic cultural foundations. And jam.

Witchyandtwitchy · 18/08/2024 11:52

Do they need more in terms of security? They wouldn’t be worth much as part of a kidnap plot.
I’d gladly pay to have them locked up in a soundproof building never to be released! That’s the sort of security they need!
