How can a couple who had so many opportunities mess up so spectacularly?

Gosh, that is a sad synopsis and another affirmation of how badly they have screwed up since the Oprah interview.

It would probably be wise for them to step back from this continual publicity seeking and take a few years to beaver away quietly at trying to rebuild their reputation and public image.

The more interviews they do, mentioning the rift with the RF, using influencers, using Invictus as their 'piggy bank' , tours to countries with corrupt governments, etc, etc. etc, etc., is ensuring it is all going to continue in this downward trajectory.

They desperately need a re-set if they are to make anything successful of their businesses, ventures and public image..

I agree, they need to rethink, and regroup. However, I really don’t know how they can turn this around. I also think that if they were given more opportunities, they would also throw these away as their work ethic, attitude and approach will never change. My dad used to have a saying of “easy come, easy go”. I think that because a lot of what Meghan and Harry have, has come easy to them. Including opportunity. They don’t appreciate it and have squandered it. Maybe they won’t realise this until it’s too late. Maybe it’s already too late.

I wonder if they have just managed to surround themselves with sycophants who tell them every idea is a great idea.
As well as not following through they also don’t seem to do any research,
They need to employ people with knowledge and are happy to challenge them. But they ideal situation would be for them to bugger off and grow up a bit.

Staff are constantly leaving and that’s probably why . They must be a nightmare to work for.

According to Twitter and a Blind Item ( so I can’t confirm it’s true) Meghan was very unhappy with the interview and shouted at a producer afterwards .

It seems no matter how many times it’s put out there that the pair of them always make it about themselves (she in particular) and it’s damaging their ‘brand’, they carry on doing it. They’re surely aware of the criticisms but choose to ignore them. They can never reset or relaunch or rebrand (how many times now?) to get themselves on the right footing because their entitlement, narcissism and self importance is too deep.

I wonder if the row with the producer was after it was filmed or prior to being filmed, because their demeanour on that CBS interview was so transparent, they did not look happy at all.

Meghan acted very condescending with that faux smiling at really inappropriate times. Harry just looked pissed off and like he would have preferred to be anywhere else but there, his little nursery style hand roof shape was quite pathetic and his comment about first responders was neither here nor there, who knows what he meant by that irrelevant comment.

I suspect the row would have been after the interview, as the questioning does not seem to have gone how the Sussexes would have liked. If it was before, I imagine the interview may not have gone ahead. The faux smiles etc may well have been because Meghan picked up on the fact that the interviewer was not being totally sycophantic 😆

I think so too @smilesy. I would also hazard a guess that it was the humble/modest beginnings comment that didn’t go down well. I would not want to have been on the receiving end of that look that Meghan shot following this. Her voice also lowered and her response was sharp to this as she continued to look at Jane Pauley as though she was reprimanding her

Re. Using Invictus as their personal piggy bank, I came across this article (via Twitter) where it's confirmed by a director of the IG that Invictus covered the costs for their private security.

Given that they have this security year round as a personal choice, it's surely in bad faith to be cross charging costs back to the charity you're a patron of? How many other charities are funding their security costs and is that why Harry's always keen to drop in on WellChild when he's in the UK?
