There are now online sleuths, looking frame by frame at the event they attended on the day she told Harry about wanting to end it all, pointing out that H looked really angry rather than upset or concerned, that she had to pull his arm towards her so that she could hold his hand, rather than him being affectionate or supportive. He did look furious, I imagine he is utterly useless in a crises.

I suppose it depends on personal interpretation, he looks more distressed to me whilst she looks pretty pleased with herself.

As just about everybody has observed, the whole story makes no sense but I suppose we will never get the true facts out of them. Why on earth contact HR? There are a thousand people to call before a department that deals with staff issues. I can only imagine it was to get financial clearance to go to some Arizona wellness place at $10k a night.

Very good point. Most likely a mega expensive retreat, plus a private jet to get there, and that was what M&H were told wouldn’t look good.

I think Harry looks extremely distressed whilst in the box FWIW just IMO.

Who would tell them "it wouldn't look good"? This whole episode is baffling. We have a woman needing help and unable to access it, nor can her husband or mother and there are claims that BP blocked the care she wanted?
All sounds highly unlikely.

Indeed. I can’t imagine that BP would want anything to happen as how would that look? Much worse than a stay in an inpatient facility

posted too soon. Meant to add let alone their concern for a fellow human being

Of course. It's utterly ludicrous.

I feel like I'm going on a rant today about M&H talking about mental health, but tbh they say so many harmful and wrong things, I may as well get it all out lol.

I was perturbed to see Harry platforming Gabor Mate. Mate's not a clinical psychologist, he's got lots of odd and controversial ideas about biopsychosocial approaches to trauma which are not largely agreed with, and he also advocates the use of hallucinogenics to treat trauma, which, despite the fact that it seems to be fashionable among celebs atm, is a potentially highly dangerous way to attempt to 'treat' people with PTSD. Why Harry thought it was a good idea to give his 'watershed' mental health interview with Mate, I don't know. He's not mainstream at all, it would be like doing an interview about the role and function of the British Home Office and choosing David Icke as the resident expert.

I haven't looked into what Kate and William do about mental health but I did see an interview with her on the news a few years ago, on the subject, and she was talking about CBT, the importance of social networks, the importance of exercise, you know basic bread and butter stuff for mental health that is mostly accessible to the masses, not just the privileged. That is a LOT more helpful than Harry doing an interview with Mr Drop Shrooms and Run Naked Over the California Mountains Ululating Gabor Mate.

I had only seen the photos, so just looked for the video now.

They were actually boo'd by some of the audience when they were introduced, I never heard about that or even read about it.

I think that is why he looked so distracted and distressed, he appeared fine before that when they were mingling with the audience. I don't know why they were boo'd then, they were working royals and doing their bit.

3.16 when they were introduced and boos can be clearly heard, Harry looked upset after that.

He may have felt in turmoil and just not knowing what to do. She looks absolutely fine to me. I just don’t understand this need she has to have him holding her hand and patting her . He’s like a dog on a leash.

PoppysAunt · 08/08/2024 12:49

She looks perfectly fine in that video.

Lifestooshort71 · 08/08/2024 13:03

When they sat down, Harry reached for her hand for a change. Perhaps they'd had an I'm-not-happy-with-this-situation conversation beforehand and wild statements were thrown around as to what might happen if she didn't get her own way ('I'll scream and scream and scream until I'm sick!!')? It looks to me as though he's reassuring her and she's just smug.

Heads Together is the mental health initiative started by William, Catherine and Harry. Well before Meghan came on the scene, borne out of William spotting that Harry was struggling and ended needed therapeutic help after he left the army. The idea Harry posits in Spare that mental health wasn’t talked about in the RF before Meghan came into his life is revisionist nonsense.

ThePoshUns · 08/08/2024 13:13

I haven't seen that video before. In fairness to Meghan she seemed to be doing a really good job there at being royal, came across as genuinely interested in speaking to everyone there.

squishee · 08/08/2024 13:16

Sunnydaysandthebeach · 05/08/2024 17:23

They don’t have a platform, they get invited to speak because programme makers know people will tune in to watch them, based on what they’ve revealed in the past.

You really need to get out more if you do not think they have a platform. 😂

Agree. But don't you mean stay in more? Consume more media fluff?

It never fails to amaze/ amuse me that people are sniffy about the DM yet are happy to quote crap like celebitchy .

I think all those types of articles shouldn’t be clicked on as much, not just Daily Mail. The fewer the clicks, eventually the topic moves on to something else and that goes for other trashy tabloids and their ilk.

I think she was actually very good at that part of the job, if it was all she had to do she would have been a great success. Unfortunately there’s a lot more to it than charming a reception line.

If they were booed, it’s probably to do with the African documentary, which came out a few weeks earlier? The one where Meghan complained that nobody asked how she was.

No, it can't be that one because she had already given birth to Archie when they went to S. Africa. She was still pregnant in the video where they are booed.

The booing is very clear and it absolutely unnerved Harry, he looked very unhappy, trying to compose himself, when he sat back down.

I don’t really follow royal news closely, but when did this happen? I have no doubt that there were racial undertones to some tabloid reporting but apart from that I always thought that she received a warm welcome.

it was January 2019, Meghan was about 5 months pregnant with Archie.

I know Royals do get booed on occasion, so possibly it was just more of the same, a few anti Royalists' booing a Royal couple.

Just looked up the dates. So the variety performance was January 2019? Archie was born in May.

Apparently there were reports of trouble behind the scenes in January

I don't think anyone can or should make a judgement about anyone's mental health by looking at a video. You can't even tell in person. I'm not going into detail on a public forum but I will say that I have personal experience of severe mental illness and how I looked on the outside, how I related to people, did not always reflect how I actually was.

I do not doubt Meghan when she speaks about how she was feeling when pregnant. I do doubt her story that no one helped.
