@PoppysAunt I think they were concerned with confidentiality hence in house & also I think she said she wanted a residential stay.

On the suicidal ideation is it really so vanishingly rare? If both D & M felt this way I find it hard to believe not far more commonplace than research & studied suggest (?)

I think Diana had some deep seated problems even before she came pregnant?

FloofPaws · 07/08/2024 17:48

Thedom · 07/08/2024 17:42

She was pregnant with lilibet when she did the Oprah interview and looked pregnant, full round face.

She looks so beautiful and very youthful in that photo with newborn Archie.

lol - amazing what plastic surgery and great makeup can do eh

smilesy · 07/08/2024 17:48

I can’t imagine she wasn’t pregnant. Like I said, it would be impossible to keep anything else a secret. Like all conspiracy theories, it falls down when you think how many people would have had to be in on it, and those people included the Late Queen, who was nobody’s fool and took the sanctity of monarchy very seriously

Yes, the ED came to the fore in the run up to the wedding.

Mylovelygreendress · 07/08/2024 17:52

One thing that was odd ( and remarked upon at the time ) was that the official notice that was placed on the easel did not have the names of the attending doctors which is the norm for Royal births .

lizzyBennet08 · 07/08/2024 17:58

I loved her style up to a few years ago, I thought she had such a good eye. In recent years not so much. A lot of the clothes seem ill fitting for her and poorly chosen for the relevant occasion . Too formal or too casual ie the super high heels for polo in a field or the off the shoulder cream number for that recent interview . I like the jump suit though.

User14March · 07/08/2024 18:02

@Thedom it couldn’t be faked re: weight gain, absolutely, you’re right.

Indeed, in one preg, the first, more obvious? Unless of course, deliberate…Ridiculous? Possibly & ludicrous too, but so are seals that sing back & Diana’s graveside & Christmas tree side spirit & pregnancy tests you fall asleep as take so long to register.

Ridiculous lengths to go to? Carolyn Besette Kennedy reminded me of Meghan & there are many parallels. Not pregnancy related but both positive & negative & single minded ambition.

Off course Occam’s razor says she birthed children.

User14March · 07/08/2024 18:04

@smilesy could you keep it to yourselves & hospital dash? Or to only a group of 2/3, poss? Playing devil’s advocate? You could keep it from staff.

Kebarbra · 07/08/2024 18:14

Not judging what other people discuss, but personally I'm not bothered speculating on the children, would feel sad if they grew up to read the comments. MM & Harry profit from putting their lives into the public domain at this point so think they're fair game.

It is indeed weird that both Diana and Meghan experienced the same during pregnancy...

Imo she was absolutely stunning pre-Harry, I think it's because she embraced her own style rather than whatever it is we see now. If she was true to herself and wore what she wanted rather than what she thought a faux Royal wannabe lifestyle mogul would wear.

sausawyee · 07/08/2024 18:17

Meghan has definitely had her teeth done in recent years. Her teeth before were more natural whereas later they are all too much the same size. I know my dentist believed in having the middle two teeth longer than the rest as it gave a more youthful look. She's gone the opposite way.

I’m thinking more of keeping up the pretence during the previous nine months. Most women who have been pregnant can tell when another woman is pregnant. Also all the ante natal appointments, making sure the bump is the correct size etc. It would be difficult not to slip up at some point and someone would have noticed. I know there has been speculation over all these things but I think it’s unlikely given that they were in the public eye

@PoppysAunt I read somewhere re: residential treatment stints not the go to & think I read that’s what was her hope & expectation.

I especially don’t understand why they felt they had to push through with the event.

I read somewhere re: residential treatment stints not the go to & think I read that’s what was her hope & expectation

The Duchess of Kent who was a very high profile royal in the 70’s and 80’s received 7 weeks of residential mental health care after the still birth of her baby in the 70’s. There is absolutely no issue with royals, senior or otherwise receiving in patient care.

Royal heartbreak: Duchess of Kent spoke about ‘devastating experience'

KATHARINE, Duchess of Kent opened up about a "devastating" experience she suffered in the Seventies in a throwback interview.

@Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar where did they make this claim on consultant?

H thinks preg tests take about 30 mins too, given he fell asleep whilst it was processing as took so very long.

I think it was in Spare.

One thing that was odd ( and remarked upon at the time ) was that the official notice that was placed on the easel did not have the names of the attending doctors which is the norm for Royal births .

But they were really messing with the media and the 'institution' at that time, they were doing everything to twart and annoy the media and I think that announcement with the bare minimum detail, no photo, no release of the godparents was all part of their strategy of 'not playing the game' as they saw it !

Thedom · 07/08/2024 19:01

If I remember correctly, I think they invited only US media to photograph them when they introduced Archie for the first time, they also timed it for the US morning west coast news.

Apparently Meghan wanted Oprah for their engagement interview which was refused by the RF.

I have to say, that was when I started to think there was something odd going on, not in terms of the pregnancy and birth, but with all the odd game playing about the announcement of Archie’s birth. I wouldn’t blame them at all for not wanting to pose on the steps with a newborn, but that wasn’t compulsory and it would seem perfectly reasonable not to do this, but all the weird not wanting to reveal exactly when he was born and being in labour when he had actually already arrived seemed to me to be sticking two fingers up at the public for no reason 🤷‍♀️

User14March · 07/08/2024 19:11

@smilesy many have apparently seen anomalies with the bump but I broadly agree. Some even wear a fake ‘moonbump’ although genuinely pregnant to look good in couture, who knew! The old adage ‘two people can keep a secret if one of them is dead’ generally applies so…in short I suspect you’re right.

bridgerbelle · 07/08/2024 19:14

I just don't believe that the children aren't real, it's too far fetched. I think they have two children and they are probably loving parents - though perhaps not totally hands on. I think it'd be a shame if this board starts going down that road of speculation. This isn't Tattle, where the H&M threads are overrun with MAGA types and rampant misogyny. There's plenty of genuine stuff to criticise Harry and Meghan for without going into the ridiculous.

User14March · 07/08/2024 19:24

@bridgerbelle no one has said children aren’t real.

User14March · 07/08/2024 19:26

Debate has been balanced, polite, & informative IMO @bridgerbelle

JSMill · 07/08/2024 20:07

@smilesy yes I also felt they were sticking their fingers up at the public, which was weird given how much goodwill the public had shown them. It was also said that the timing of announcements was to suit the American audience.
Conversely, I really warmed to Kate and William when they were so bloody nice about the circus that was going on outside St Mary's when Kate had George. I would have found that overwhelming and frankly annoying. However they came out, smiled for the pictures, graciously answered the media's questions and gave the media and public what they were looking for without any scowling or complaining.

You're correct, I'm sorry. Went down a Tattle rabbit-hole earlier and still annoyed 🤣 My brain read the surrogate discussion and jumped to 'the children are flatpacks' and other conspiracy theories.

I think that’s probably invention.

I don’t remember that from either of the Sussexes, or the likes of Scobie. Or have I missed something?

I think that most of the "bump anomalies" come from young people with very little idea about pregnancy.

My bump was freaking huge at 4.5m because of "digestive issues" to put it politely. Then a couple of weeks later I was back fitting into normal clothes.

Photos agonising over different bumps on different days strike me as very naive.
