Sussex Whiplash

ConstantGarden1 · 17/07/2024 23:14

Sometimes, all the different media outlets who purport to know the inner workings of all things Sussex can give me whiplash. One moment the Sussex duo are on the outs with everyone, hemorrhaging or devoid of influential friends, making no headway with Netflix, losing money, can’t afford their mortgage and claimed to no longer be relevant. Then Suits saw an upsurge in viewers - fantastic ratings on Netflix, the BBC buys Suits, Invictus is being promoted via Harry’s award and trips, he receives a heartfelt standing ovation, Meghan finishes filming a new Netflix series purportedly linked to a nascent commercial venture and a new podcast is set for next year.

‘Lonely’ Harry, as some will insist on writing, is also not something that rings true for me. He has too much charisma, energy, interests, causes and is a people person. I also cannot think of anyone who needs to say I am friends with x, y, and z on a regular basis for the benefit or not of strangers. We don’t know who they are friends with, really. Meanwhile, pundits continue to engage those interested in the couple with whatever they can attributing the information to some made up mysterious ‘sources’. I suspect their real friends are quietly keeping their own counsel. Especially, now they have seen the mutual pathological loathing that Harry and the tabloids have towards one another. Can’t say I blame them either.

Considering Whoopi G had less than favourable words for the couple I’d like to have been a fly on the wall at any meetings held. No doubt ‘netizens’ will have their microscopes to the ready to give us all their ‘insights’ regarding the events of the evening. No doubt I’ll get whiplash again when all their combined fingers hit the keyboards.

They are settling well in the USA. If I relied on people who want the Sussex’s to fail I would have a different perspective to the one I have. :-p

Thinking back to how they were both trashed by tabloids when they decided to retire from the goldfish bowl and the constant merry go round of abusive tabloids knowing all about their comings and goings it’s good to see tabloids are now always the last to know!! 😂😂😂

My regular reminder that they didn’t actually want to “ retire from the goldfish bowl “ . They wanted to earn lots of money so that those pesky Royals would stop questioning Meghan’s clothing bills and having to visit boring factories etc BUT they wanted to be able to enjoy the perks of 24/7 security , titles , access to palaces etc and luxury travel to grand events .,

Very good comment @Spectre8 (quote history). Always good to see a common sense, clear and non combative point of view.

As for the whiplash @ConstantGarden1 do what I do. Don’t read their sour grapes attempt to pull Harry apart. In days of old some of them would have tried to get the authorities to hang, draw and quarter him too just for the fun of it.

Well it's nice to see a thread where it's not started off with the obvious comparison or trying to put other people down.

For some reason these two (H&M) must always be perfect yet other celebrities or Royals cane make mistakes and not be endlessly torn apart for it. Let's take for example King Charles who recently snapped at his aides as reported in the press infact there is video showing it...not one word on here by anyone yet had it been Meghan it would have been endless comment about how she bullies her staff and who is to snap at her staff and so on and on it would go.

But this is how it is here and I agree with you re. Ignoring

Dan Wootton, that well known British tabloid hack who sp*nks anti Meghan and Harry words up the wall at a moment’s notice posts, wrongly, that V snubs Harry by not standing. It’s made clear on the footage she does stand, perhaps, realising it’s not just a Meghan to Harry thing. V has also spent the night happily chatting to the couple she is on good terms with. Instead of accepting that Wootton was wrong right wing, hardcore anti Sussex posters spin the narrative into all kinds of negativity in a failed attempt to keep the idea of the ‘snub’ alive. No one knows what the parties involved think (telepathy does not exist). Once again the supposed amateur body language experts get it wrong.

I saw a picture or video where it showed the whole row and everyone sitting after Venus did not get on their feet straight away. So why focus just on Venus when there were at least another 5 people who also didn't stand up.

This is a royal board. Why post about them here? They are not royals. King Charles is not a celebrity.

Oh, don't worry, the OP has evened the score with a thread/threads putting the royal family down. They're as partisan as the next poster.

TheRecollectionOfTheGhostsMayVary8 · 18/07/2024 13:04

I would say that the Emmys have evened the score even more.

Burnyburny.

There was a letter shared from KP staff that Meghan was creating a terrible, toxic environment and regularly bullying staff to tears. That’s not something to be taken lightly and it’s not the same as a moment of irritation. Why would you dismiss it?

This came in it as a result of her own lawsuit.

Yes, people did note that much the crowd seemed reluctant to stand for Harry. It’s just more interesting that Venus appeared that way because of her sister’s friendship with Meghan.

Sitting next to Venus was their older sister. Maybe it’s a family thing.

Although perhaps some of the pens that suffered the King’s irritation would like to speak out. I suppose they all had to sign their own NDAs.

I agree with OP that we don't know about the personal lives of H & M and I'm not particularly interested in who they see or don't see in private.

But anyone who can put a positive spin on the video from the ESPY awards is seriously in denial. It was a car crash in every way: the extremely uncomfortable veterans who'd been asked to go on stage with Harry, presumably to shield him from boos and the embarrassing debacle as H and M's large entourage rudely decides to leave during the event, causing disruption and offence to the audience. What on earth were they thinking?

Not to mention Harry looked like he was going to his death.

Some if the looks reminded me of the videos of Meghan with Beyoncé’s mother.

Edited

Oh I haven’t seen those! I have seen Meghan trying to speak to the very disinterested mother of Serena and Venus. I also read that Meghan nicked Venus’s seat next to her mum at a US Open game when they were watching Serena, so she had to sit behind. Possibly the same event.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 18/07/2024 13:28

Meghan finishes filming a new Netflix series purportedly linked to a nascent commercial venture and a new podcast is set for next year.

There have been rumours that she can't get anyone to agree to interviews for her podcast.

There are rumours coming out that the Lemonada contract has been axed.

The executive producer for the original podcast said that it was her idea and she did most of the work, including some of the interviews. I will assume she is telling the truth as she's never been contradicted.

None of this is a good look.

LactoseDeservesTolerance · 18/07/2024 13:31

I think the parents of people like Beyoncé and the William’s sisters would be fiercely protective of their daughters. The hard work and sacrifice of their entire family is not to be confused with fame created by a marriage.

The point is noone stars a thread about when charles does it. And it isn't the first time he has snapped at staff seems like tresting staff badly it's endemic in the royal family and apple doesn't fall from the tree does it...if he saw his father doing it no surprise children pick up same behaviour.

Nonsense, there were all kinds of comments about it here. Quite negative. Harry is an adult. Meghan was not raised by Charles? Why do people insist on infantilising them?

LactoseDeservesTolerance · 18/07/2024 13:49

Also @Spectre8, there are posters like the Op who start thread after thread about all manner of topics here for years now, including plenty of negative ones about the RF. Why not ask the OP why she never started one about the pen? I thought there was one, though.
