Sussex Whiplash

ConstantGarden1 · 17/07/2024 23:14

Sometimes, all the different media outlets who purport to know the inner workings of all things Sussex can give me whiplash. One moment the Sussex duo are on the outs with everyone, hemorrhaging or devoid of influential friends, making no headway with Netflix, losing money, can’t afford their mortgage and claimed to no longer be relevant. Then Suits saw an upsurge in viewers - fantastic ratings on Netflix, the BBC buys Suits, Invictus is being promoted via Harry’s award and trips, he receives a heartfelt standing ovation, Meghan finishes filming a new Netflix series purportedly linked to a nascent commercial venture and a new podcast is set for next year.

‘Lonely’ Harry, as some will insist on writing, is also not something that rings true for me. He has too much charisma, energy, interests, causes and is a people person. I also cannot think of anyone who needs to say I am friends with x, y, and z on a regular basis for the benefit or not of strangers. We don’t know who they are friends with, really. Meanwhile, pundits continue to engage those interested in the couple with whatever they can attributing the information to some made up mysterious ‘sources’. I suspect their real friends are quietly keeping their own counsel. Especially, now they have seen the mutual pathological loathing that Harry and the tabloids have towards one another. Can’t say I blame them either.

Now there is this:

Considering Whoopi G had less than favourable words for the couple I’d like to have been a fly on the wall at any meetings held. No doubt ‘netizens’ will have their microscopes to the ready to give us all their ‘insights’ regarding the events of the evening. No doubt I’ll get whiplash again when all their combined fingers hit the keyboards.

I do think H&M would be happier with real friends.

It doesn’t look as the people around them actually really care about them.

Acquaintances and associates and peripheral liggers and influencers will never have their best interests at heart.

Although it surprises me that they might want the association when there seems to be evidence of a backlash.

Boutonnière · 18/07/2024 10:22

You lost me at ‘charisma’ .

SmileyHappyPeopleInTheSun · 18/07/2024 10:30

Sometimes, all the different media outlets who purport to know the inner workings of all things Sussex can give me whiplash.

One half of the equation is the Sussexes - they leak like mad - story every time RF do something - and employ a PR company - they are paying for positive press.

They also famously have a bunch of on-line trolls who associated with them who push stories.

Then you have the on-line people making money dissing them and pointing out their many flaws - some more vicious than others.

Then there are royal watchers - looking to sell book and articles and get appearances - they do it to all the royals but Sussex make themselves huge targets and give them plenty to work with or invent.

Then you have main stream media - desperate for controversy to sell their product - especially papers - and they often do pro then ant stories but as interest in them wanes they will die down.

Commercially it's hard to know how well they are doing and not sure how much skill either had going in - but some successes usually dissing RF and some high profile partings - the website stuff looked amateurish - to outsiders it does look like they are struggling and as their access to RF is no more that they are one trick ponies with dead pony. They also do seem to fall out with people - many of who do talk or their people talk. So there's some likely reality in some stories and pr both ways acting on that.

How do you know she is championing the Sussex squad? All I see here is someone creating a post about H&M that for once isn't making nasty remarks about them nor does OP make any reference to the other royals or put them down in any way. Is that what the Sussex squad do according to many on here, rip apart the other royals. I don't see that here.

Thank you.

They have the title. They are used for it now so at least it keeps the wolf from the door of their mansion.

I do think this is where the grey men were misunderstood. In looking out for the institution they were also protecting and looking out for Harry, no matter what he did. Hollywood does not have any such equivalent, as his experience with Spotify demonstrates. Within palace walls, Harry’s batshit ideas for a podcast would have been discussed, adapted and a viable project created. In Hollywood, you are just one more in a long line of people with “bright ideas” nobody is buying, and nobody cares if you fail.

TheRecollectionOfTheGhostsMayVary8 · 18/07/2024 11:00

I think that is an excellent point @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar

I wonder how the men in grey suits would get on here?

I think touched nerves and hurty feelies would be soothed somewhat. Especially if it was pointed out that the things that were said were actually true and from their own mouths.

SmileyHappyPeopleInTheSun · 18/07/2024 11:03

I agree - I think they walked away from a huge amount of potential support.

LiterallyOnFire · 18/07/2024 11:05

Gosh this is all very obsequious.

InvictusForever · 18/07/2024 11:12

Dan Wootton, that well known British tabloid hack who sp*nks anti Meghan and Harry words up the wall at a moment’s notice posts, wrongly, that V snubs Harry by not standing. It’s made clear on the footage she does stand, perhaps, realising it’s not just a Meghan to Harry thing. V has also spent the night happily chatting to the couple she is on good terms with. Instead of accepting that Wootton was wrong right wing, hardcore anti Sussex posters spin the narrative into all kinds of negativity in a failed attempt to keep the idea of the ‘snub’ alive. No one knows what the parties involved think (telepathy does not exist). Once again the supposed amateur body language experts get it wrong.

Support? Harry told you how it is within the walls. I think he knows more than any random would about his own family and how the palace operates.

TheRecollectionOfTheGhostsMayVary8 · 18/07/2024 11:16

And he also lies.

So who is to say his account is accurate?

He told you he couldn’t get his own way. It’s a workplace as well as a family, nobody in a workplace gets to dictate to the boss. I don’t think his views of his family are based in rational truth, and much of what he says doesn’t add up or is demonstrably false. Spare is not the bible.

There is a thread about Invictus where the matter has been discussed. Why are you derailing this thread?

Thank you.

Very good comment @Spectre8 (quote history). Always good to see a common sense, clear and non combative point of view.

As for the whiplash @ConstantGarden1 do what I do. Don’t read their sour grapes attempt to pull Harry apart. In days of old some of them would have tried to get the authorities to hang, draw and quarter him too just for the fun of it.

Harty just isn't a reliable narrator - I know this because of what he's said which is easily disproved by looking at other more reliable sources.

I'm not saying he always lying just you have to take what he says with a massive amount of salt and look for more reliable sources to back up his claims.

The OP has been on MN 5 minutes, disingenuously claims no previous interest in the royal family yet manages to start 4 threads and dozens of posts slagging off the rf and bigging up H&M. Pull t'other one.
