Mother of Pat Tillman has criticised the decision to give Prince Harry the memorial award at ESPY

Mary Tillman says " There are recipients far more fitting. He publicly disrespected his family , ran away from service to his country. He is unworthy of this award"

She feels there are recipients far more fitting.

I think she speaks for many.

So I wonder if Harry is going to announce this year that he is 'calling for a fresh investigation and inquiry into the circumstances surrounding my mother's death in light of public dissatisfaction with the official explanation' as a means of (a) saying a big 'fuck you' to William and the RF, and (b) self-aggrandisement in the form of portraying himself as some sort of 'award-winning' truth-seeker

I wouldn't put anything past him tbh but it would make him look even more daft than he already does.

I'd love to know who organised the planes and banners , I did see someone had noted the planes ID number or whatever it's called and found out where it took off from.

IsoldeWagner · 14/07/2024 18:56

I would put nothing past the Sussexes, as long as it serves two purposes:

  1. Makes them money.
  2. Keeps them in the headlines.
Kerching and click- click.
BemusedAmerican · 14/07/2024 18:58

@IsoldeWagner they seem incompetent enough to hire banner companies that can't spell.

BasiliskStare · 14/07/2024 19:04

I do think H&M have a tin ear and brass necks but they do seem to love the celebrity which Harry being a prince gives - another one one - My granny would have said - they've got more front than Blackpool

I think if they left early that was a bit rude of them. Also given it was Pat Tillman's mother who was the one who said she did not agree with him getting it it was I think a mistake to reference mothers and sons.

But seriously - yes Harry is a patron of the Invictus Games and I think he holds it dear but he did not set it up , I would be interested to know how much time he spends on it - is is tirelessly ? I simply don't know .

I do think Harry made a fool of himself by saying his father cut him off financially when he has had £m s from his mother / grandmother etc. My father cut me off financially at 21 after university by which I mean he had spent what he could and I am grateful ( my father doesn't have loads of money it's just normal isn't it he helped me with grant ( this is a long time ago ) I had finished university and got a job. My father loves me but there comes a time when you have to stand on your own two feet - I think . How Harry thought as not being a working member of the Royal family would have thought he would paid for - Lord knows . They were given a lovely house ( Frogmore cottage ) For goodness sake what do you want as a 30 odd year old who has cut yourself off from the RF.

Excellent points, @BasiliskStare - plus I love that "more front than Blackpool"!
Wise Granny!
So much has been said by them which is foolish, selfish or just plain untruthful. I suspect this will continue.

Just catching up on this week's news & gossip and I'm finding the photos of H&M at the ESPYS really quite disturbing.
They look shadows of their former selves, Harry has looked drained and incredibly tense for quite some time but it's the first time I've seen Meghan looking so stressed and miserable. The plastered on grins are no longer anywhere close to covering their misery.
In my opinion they need to take a massive step back from the spotlight immediately for the sake of their mental health. They need to stop chasing the billions and accept that they have enough millions to live comfortably for the rest of their lives.
They haven't found the niche that's going to make them billionaires and they need to accept that their moment has been and gone.
Maybe if they step back now, over time they'll find some fulfilling purpose and maybe a period of quiet time will lead to some level of reconciliation with their families.
I don't see how continuing on their current trajectory will lead to anything other than a life of misery.

I agree but I don’t think they will ever step back, take some time out, reevaluate or reconsider: they are two incredibly narcissistic individuals who are also very very emotionally immature. I pity their teams because they must be a NIGHTMARE to work with. It must be like managing a pair of toddlers who pay your wages .
Publicity is their oxygen. I’m in the media, therefore I am. I don’t think either of them really has any sense of self.

I should say also that Meghan looks far too thin and she’s aged badly. The scraped back hair looks too severe. She permanently got that false rictus grin plastered on her face. He looks haunted, dejected, lost .

Yes, she works with WME.
They signed with WME for three years, and they are just over a year into this contract. I totally agree that the optics were appalling, however, they are known for not following advice. Them leaving when they did was probably against their PR advice but they did what they wanted anyway.

Edited

Thanks.

It all seemed to have gone very quiet on the WME front and I think they were reported to have been looking for a UK PR firm which shouldn't have been a stretch to arrange with the cast iron contacts WME must have so I wondered if they were still representing them or at least M but this disaster seems to confirm it.

If the Harolds aren't following the advice they pay handsomely for (I agree very likely) WME must very likely be looking hard at any get out clauses in the contract seething after this.

The endless invoking of Diana has a shelf life.

I said way back when Harold was intent on fleecing gullible bankers on the after dinner circuit (plan abruptly ended by Covid) that the Diana sob story was wearing thin.

It's kind of awe-inspring in every wrong way there is he's still daring to milk it, let alone getting away with it.

CathyorClaire · 14/07/2024 20:36

He’d probably be surprised to realise that she actually died in France

TBF I do think he's absorbed the basics given he made some poor mug of a driver rocket him through the Alma Tunnel at pace in an attempt to replicate the circumstances of her death

CathyorClaire · 14/07/2024 20:50

The bank of Pa would be cemented closed forever.

I don't think Bank of Pa is anywhere near close to putting up its shutters.

The deals have drifted South yet the inexplicably lavish lifestyle continues.

Someone's funding it and it's not Harold because he's saving his cold hard for the kids.

Fred can cough and not even notice...

PrincessMee · 14/07/2024 22:40

Looking at these photos of Harry it makes me wonder if he had had to have some of nature's therapy for the evening.

Apparently the ABC viewing figures for the ESPYS were the second lowest ever. As many of us posters have said before: Notoriety does not equate to popularity.
When are these people going to get it that the Sussexes will Markle you rather than grant a Midas touch?

His body language was very interesting I thought. For once, he was having none of Meghan’s claw.

I agree.

Neither PH or KC are going to publicly state that KC is funding H&M. Their annual expenses including property taxes, security, staff (gardeners, nannies, housekeepers, pool maintenance etc must be astronomical. Without even thinking about food, utilities, school fees, holidays, car costs etc.

Locusteater · 15/07/2024 07:04

I don’t think Harry can be saving the money for his kids. He’s got to be spending it, but it won’t last forever. He’s a cash register to Meghan , but when the money dries up she’ll be off. If she hasn’t gone already.
He inherits his next tranch of money from Diana in September , at which point she may decide the settlement will be good enough to leave him.

When Charles dies Harry will be up shit creek without a paddle because there is no way William will ever fund his brother .

PrincessMee · 15/07/2024 08:16

@MummyJ12 yes he was not entertaining the claw. I read an article which was talking about her relaxing her need to always be in the spotlight and making it all about him at the awards. He seemed very robotic, on a mission, gradually relaxed as it went on. I reckon he was extremely nervous about the possible reception. All was not well. I'm wondering if he said to her look you need to take a step back tonight. Who knows 🤷‍♀️ oh to be a fly on the wall.

I think Mary Tillman was a brave woman to speak out against Harry. It will no doubt have unleashed vitriol on her by some Sussex fans. She must have known that, but it didn’t stop her.

IMO the fact thar Harry was passive aggressive in his speech to her indicates to me that he approves the vitriol that some of his supporters dish out.

Other opinions may vary.

I agree . The money received from Diana and the Queen Mother will be dwindling fast . I imagine that KC has set up trust funds for his grandchildren which will be carefully managed .
He won’t get a penny from William and rightly so . I doubt if he will even be invited to his Coronation.

I forgot about the money PH must have inherited from the Queen and PP.

Article here estimates running costs for the moneypit at $4.4m a year and that was at 2020 prices:

I entirely agree W won't be subbing him. I wonder if Pa's diagnosis and the realisation he may have a shorter time than anticipated before W gets the purse strings is the driving force behind the flurry of reports he wants a property here in the UK?
