Mary Tillman says " There are recipients far more fitting. He publicly disrespected his family , ran away from service to his country. He is unworthy of this award"

She feels there are recipients far more fitting.

I think she speaks for many.

@Rhaidimiddim The concept of family is strong in many parts of the US and I think that Harry’s willingness to publicly speak ill of his family shocked a lot of people.

Of course many celebrities write books and give interviews about their lives, but it seems to have backfired for him.

Perhaps A-listers wonder whether he’ll tell/sell stories about them as well.

Well I doubt he will be welcome back at Courtney Cox’s house !

I think that interview is from last year but it popped up in my YouTube the other day and i listened to it while don g the ironing.
She's an amazing woman who has had an incredible life, and suffered greatly at times. It certainly wasn't all privilege. She carries no bitterness at all, and has just got on with the tribulations life has thrown at her.
I think she is appalled by Harry and his disloyalty. She joked a bit about the Spare title.
I hadn't realised, the nanny Barbara Barnes who looked after William and Harry when they were small had previously been nanny to the Glenconner family. Now there's a person who could do a tell all but who never has. What the Nannie's must see. When Colin Tennant, her husband, beat her with a stick such that she feared for her life, it was Barbara Barnes that nursed her afterwards.

I know staff sign NDAs but still, some keep very dark secrets and I don't think it is because they are contracted to do so.

I agree that Lady Glenconnor is an amazing woman . 2 sons died and the third was badly injured in an accident . And her husband was horrible .

She’s an amazing woman. I heard a couple of interviews when she published her autobiography last year. She was a travelling saleswoman in the US as teen amongst other adventures. And yes, endured a lot of suffering and tragedy that transcends any social status, but survived with the strength of character, humour and compassion, even for those who harmed her. A remarkable woman.

I just wonder if Harry is spending goodwill more than he is earning i I may be utterly wrong but he and M do seem to like awards big publicity etc. He has been criticised by senior UK military.

On a lighter note - he he received a legend of Aviation from John Travolta and made a joke abut JT dining out on dancing with his mother - well - ironic.

I wonder what the future holds for them. But I bet whey will be clinging on the Sussex name and the childrens' title by their fingernails. As a PP said I think the RF are leaving them to it. Give 'em enough rope etc.

I do feel sorry for KC but whilst we have a RF and I know many would prefer we do not - but whilst we do KC has to do the best job he can .

Runnerinthenight · 13/07/2024 23:58

IsoldeWagner · 13/07/2024 08:39

... walking out with their entourage 🙄

Meghan was probably bored.

Runnerinthenight · 14/07/2024 00:03

IsoldeWagner · 13/07/2024 15:30

🤔
Also, look at Meghan's rictus grin...

I'm not a violent person but that smug, self-satisfied grin makes me want to be!!

BruFord · 14/07/2024 01:09

@BasiliskStare Harry may now be realizing what life is really like without Royal status. In the ordinary world, you have to do something heroic to be treated as a hero and he hasn’t done anything heroic. Yes, he’s served in the Forces and done a good job as patron of the Invictus Games, but being given a patronage and doing a decent job isn’t heroic.

I think that was the point that Marie Tillman was making, she thought that someone who’s done something exceptional, as her son did, should receive it.

Harry wanted a more ordinary life and this is what it’s like. Ordinary people don’t get many awards!

IsoldeWagner · 14/07/2024 06:11

"Being given a patronage and doing a decent job isn't heroic"
This, 💯.

What he said to John Travolta was awful . The only person who “ dines out” on Diana is Harry .

Ah but he is a cheeky chappy 🙄 when he's not waaaaaaaaaaaaaing!

He's pretty much at meal deal level now though.

I think he only gets away with it because the gong deal's been done and the money's safely in random charity or foundation coffers.

Back to the night. Jill Smoller is Serena's agent, yes? And works for WME?

Does this mean they're still associated/working for Meghan? In which case why was this evening's show up, do good beset with such appalling optics?

If the Harolds were unexpectedly off-piste with insisting previous winners stay on stage then high tailing out early surely they're now finally considered unworkable with?

IsoldeWagner · 14/07/2024 11:25

meal deal level well put.

Yes, she works with WME.
They signed with WME for three years, and they are just over a year into this contract. I totally agree that the optics were appalling, however, they are known for not following advice. Them leaving when they did was probably against their PR advice but they did what they wanted anyway.

MummyJ12 · 14/07/2024 11:37

Maybe they left early because Meghan saw someone wearing a very similar dress to hers…..?! 😱

I rather feel that the spotlight of scrutiny that has been shone on the governance and finances of the Pat Tillman Foundation by making the award to Harry may be something they come to deeply regret.

The endless invoking of Diana has a shelf life. Generations have grown up who do not remember her in life and this will become more and more marked as time goes by. Using her to make a swipe at Mary Tillman is cheap and TBH rather pathetic.

I'm actually beginning to wonder ... the endless invoking of Diana, and its recent ramping up by Harry (so much so that people are starting to notice it more) ... does it serve a more deliberate longer-term function than we had realised?

Those crazy banners over Montecito 8 months ago ('Prince Harry mom's death accidental?') and LA ('Prince Harry: investigate mumis death') are there for some sort of grifting purpose.

So I wonder if Harry is going to announce this year that he is 'calling for a fresh investigation and inquiry into the circumstances surrounding my mother's death in light of public dissatisfaction with the official explanation' as a means of (a) saying a big 'fuck you' to William and the RF, and (b) self-aggrandisement in the form of portraying himself as some sort of 'award-winning' truth-seeker?

I could write his script myself. 'I am consumed with the desire to find out the truth about what happened to my mother - there were dark forces at work!'

Harrycule Poirot and Miss Lemon, here we come.

Mylovelygreendress · 14/07/2024 13:17

Very interesting @AutumnCrow . In the past I would have dismissed the idea but now ……

Uricon2 · 14/07/2024 13:17

TBH @AutumnCrow although I hadn't thought of it, wouldn't really surprise me. He certainly continues to position himself as "True Keeper of the Flame" (never mind poor William) and such a move would certainly garner a great deal of publicity as well as doubtless frothing support from certain quarters.

And that coveted nomination for a Nobel Peace Prize??

AutumnCrow · 14/07/2024 14:02

Mylovelygreendress · 12/07/2024 20:07

So how long were they there ?
The photo where she is clutching his hand as he stands up suggests to me that she expected to go on stage with him.

I suspect that image may be looked back on in future years as Harry's 'Taj Mahal moment'. The hiatus, the shift, the 'get me out of here'.

Uricon2 · 14/07/2024 14:16

The picture where he's going up and she's still holding his hand is very odd. I think if you attach yourselves together as if by superglue, you should expect increased speculation at such things.

I've been wondering that, too. If I were KC, that would be the final straw for me. The bank of Pa would be cemented closed forever.

That had never occurred to me but may well be right. Taking his paranoia one stage further.

Vespanest · 14/07/2024 15:11

Any conspiracy theory regarding Diana by Harry would be stupidity and a diplomatic nightmare. Whilst he seems comfortable criticising the UK is he also going to include the French

He’d probably be surprised to realise that she actually died in France 🤔🙄
