Mary Tillman says " There are recipients far more fitting. He publicly disrespected his family , ran away from service to his country. He is unworthy of this award"

She feels there are recipients far more fitting.

I think she speaks for many.

Thanks @RocketsMagnificent7 , I just saw that online. And a suggestion that there was some booing, although sometimes it’s hard to tell boos from oohs and Judes (as per the England team). I wonder if Venus has a rather more sober view of her sister’s relationship with the Sussexes and is concerned for her.

Could be, I'd certainly be concerned if I were her sister.

Omg Harry and Meghan left the awards after he received his??? What on earth would prompt this?

Why stay?

No-one else matters after all.

PrincessMee · 12/07/2024 19:37

Don't leave me Harry!

Rudeness? Self Absorption? Concentration span of a gnat?

I find it shocking. People put into their seats to fill the gap. 😳

I watched his speech (on YouTube) and thought he looked very wired and very uncomfortable and his interavctons with the human-shield veterans was uncharacteristically gauche. He's a prat, but now I'm worried for him.
Fat-finger edits.

In what way, do you think he's stressed?
I can't imagine accepting this award if a petition of 75k were against it not to mention Tillman's own mother.
Maybe people forced him to go?

Vespanest · 12/07/2024 20:03

If you’re not planning on staying why take a seat and why bring Meghan, the clips on Twitter look do crass. He could of just come on via the stage.

PrincessMee · 12/07/2024 20:05

To me he looked very emotional. It is obvious that he feels strongly about Invictus but I am wondering if all the furore has got to him. He obviously realised that he had to keep the vets on the stage and to make it clear in his speech. I'm wondering if he now is beginning to realise that all the dramas they have created have indeed affected his role in Invictus in a negative way . Meghan was her usual oblivious self apart from her face showing one of those weird expressions when he jumped up to collect the award trying to drag himself away from her . She had to recollect herself but again for that split second the mask slipped.

He can't not bring Meghan! She has to be photographed, has to wear a new dress, hold his hand. That's her thing.

PrincessMee · 12/07/2024 20:06

@IsoldeWagner I believe that he was probably forced to by their PR and Meghan saying " you deserve it." I think it is slowly dawning on him the ramifications of the past few years.

I am afraid I don’t feel sorry for him.

My sympathy lies with those he has hurt.

Mylovelygreendress · 12/07/2024 20:07

So how long were they there ?
The photo where she is clutching his hand as he stands up suggests to me that she expected to go on stage with him.

His demeanour was very "on edge". The vets made to leave the stage and he stopped them - physically and with some urgency - and twice said something along the lines of needing them to stay there "for me".

It looked like he was on the verge of a panic attack.

The speech was rote.

IsoldeWagner · 12/07/2024 20:09

Interesting. He certainly looked emotional.

I agree with you. I do strongly think those around Harry need to sit him down and have a good talk (sans Meghan) about what he wants. Encourage him to visit his father, see his friends in the UK, just ground himself a bit.

Harry isn't cut out for the California/Hollywood life, he needs guidance and a purpose. Drifting isn't good.

I think she may have been expecting a kiss.

The speech was very similar to one he did during the Mandela awards, I think.
