Mary Tillman says " There are recipients far more fitting. He publicly disrespected his family , ran away from service to his country. He is unworthy of this award"

She feels there are recipients far more fitting.

I think she speaks for many.

I think it's really manipulative to have name checked Pat Tillman's mother and linked it to Diana.

Once again shielding himself from criticism behind his dead mother.

Plus, don't say you respect her advocacy for her son's memory if you're going to turn up and accept the award she's spoken out against you receiving. He obviously couldn't give a damn what she thinks, so it's really passive aggressive to mention her at all I think.

IsoldeWagner · 12/07/2024 07:56

@elessar exactly 💯

Passive aggressive - spot on.

CremeFresh · 12/07/2024 08:01

I felt as if he was sticking 2 fingers up to Pat's mother.

Mylovelygreendress · 12/07/2024 08:07

I wholeheartedly agree with @elessar . I am sure his constant references to his late mother are to provoke the sympathy vote.
Diana was also William’s mother but he rarely mentions her in public unless it is totally relevant.

RocketsMagnificent7 · 12/07/2024 08:18

Apparently, he 'put her (MT) in her place in the classiest way'.

It all leaves a very nasty taste.

User7842462 · 12/07/2024 08:21

What's the deal with the plane flying a banner carrying the message "PRINCE HARRY INVESTIGATE MUMIS DEATH"?!

Would have originally chalked it up to political nutters trying to hijack Harry's fame for some high-profile incident but can't find any person or prisoner with that name. There are no news articles or blog posts from the past 10+ years about any person called Mumi. It's also unlikely to be a typo that implies "MUM'S" because anyone paying that much for a plane will be absolutely double checking the banner.

If it's a conspiracy theorist or political publicity stunt then they would have chosen a name or word that could easily be searched up. The aim would be for the public (and press) to google whatever they wanted to raise awareness about, regardless of whether Harry was linked to it or not.

The fact you cannot find anything about it makes it feel almost like an ominous message aimed at only Harry. Maybe that was the nickname of one of the torture victims from African Parks. Was it one of the people he killed while serving in the Army? Or some other sordid incident that only Harry & Meghan know about that was kept away from the media?

Mumi/Mumia seems to be a name more common in African or Arabic languages. It's also disturbing that whoever sent the cryptic message went into great lengths to hire a plane rather than just spray paint it somewhere. It seems like they specifically wanted to demonstrate their wealth, power and anonymity.

There is no “classy” way to put a grieving mother “in her place”. What is that place? Deferential to a grasping, desperate drug addict and people making huge amounts of money off her son’s name? @elessar got it right - it was pure passive aggression, weaponising his mother yet again to force team Mary Tillman into compliance.

Using his HRH too. 🤔🙄

This is so true
it’s a clap back at Pat’s mother which is disgusting - it obviously really stung when she spoke out - he was obviously furious

it reminds me of the “service is universal “ rude clap back at the queen
They literally have to have the last word
No one else is allowed an opinion and they are above reproach- That’s why he never learns

TheFirmBiscuit · 12/07/2024 09:06

Well he got cheered and a standing ovation and made a hearfelt even great speech IMHO. So those looking for public derision and abject failure will have to wait longer I'm afraid - this wasn't it.I note that the Foundation is now coming under increased scrutiny and online slurs as to it's probity with some suggesting it has the touch of the Captain Tom's about it. I have no idea whether that is true or not but I would be wary sharing such information unless backed up by inscrutable evidence.

According to charitiesforvets.org The Pat Tillman Foundation is not a charity they recommend.

Just a reminder about who is saying TPTF is not a good charity to invest in. Based on their own 2022 tax return.

Just absolutely typical Sussex. They love to get their PA digs in don't they. Using his dead dm to put Tillman's dm in her place just gobsmackingly insensitive whilst in the next breath guffing on about unity.

A couple of pages ago the schtick was his mother's words as to Harry's suitability for the award - the line deveoping now seems to be the charity is a sham. Quite a pivot.

TallestSally · 12/07/2024 09:35

You might be wary.

As Milkshake said, there is enough out there - quite legitimately - suggesting caution.

Where were the be wary suggestions when the small batch jam company and the Trussell Trust were subject to online slurs?

I don’t care if he made a good speech or not.

The fact remains. PT’s own mother expressed reservations. the woman who loved him longest. Loved him best. I’ll listen to her as to how she wants her son honoured.

The fact that he turned up to accept the award - instead of nominating someone who does the actual work to stand in the shine -told me everything I need to know.

TallestSally · 12/07/2024 09:37

But aye. Hiding behind his mam’s reputation again.

He hasn’t got anything notable of his own.

Vespanest · 12/07/2024 09:38

so he accepted an award but it’s not really for him but for Invictus but he’ll still accept in his name as he’s so generous, and somehow still managed to name check his dead mother again but this time to emotional guilt a mother of a dead son who he actually agrees with he didn’t deserve the award as Invictus did.

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 12/07/2024 09:38

There’s no pivot. Just an overall picture developing. Brought about by both the connections that lead to these awards being revealed, and the parties involved being scrutinised by diverse parties and found wanting. There can be more than one reason to find this whole episode distasteful.

edited to make sense 🤣

It is absolutely staggering how he would do this, just so distasteful. He could've said 'I'm sorry Pat's dm feels I'm an unworthy winner please believe I will endeavour to continue hanging onto the tails of IG and try to prove that I am actually worthy', or similar. But to mention a mother's bond and use the tragic Diana death card is sick even by his standards.
How dare he do that. He is the gift that keeps on giving. Doesn't he have any advisors?!

Gorgonemilezola · 12/07/2024 09:44

The accountability and legitimacy of the charity has been brought up several times before - no 'pivot' necessary.

10 years as a Captain in an active war zone and helping to found the Invitcus Games - that nothing. Oh and a global best selling author and devoted father to his children and husband to his wife and genuinely loved by many. No one can know the true state of their marriage from the outside but the optics to my untutored eye look like a couple still in love and I'll applaud that. I'm afraid those hoping for some Wallace and Edward igominy and social ostracism will be waiting in vain. They aren't traitorous nazi sympathisers and this is a different age.

I watched the video I posted upthread of the full speech I have yet to read the commentary.
