Mary Tillman says " There are recipients far more fitting. He publicly disrespected his family , ran away from service to his country. He is unworthy of this award"

She feels there are recipients far more fitting.

I think she speaks for many.

Do you have a link for this?

Quite surprising anyone would be willing to drop cash into an organisation whose last published accounts showed a massive drop in donations, reported a loss and went on to be declared 'delinquent' but I suppose it takes all sorts.

https://www.fidelitycharitable.org/content/dam/fc-public/docs/fc/fc-990-fy-2023-schedule-i.pdf

Scroll down to the page for the £6m grants.

CathyorClaire · 03/07/2024 17:02

Thanks for that 🙂

Curious then that a £6m donation doesn't appear anywhere in Archewell's accounts.

First year they had two donations, one of £10m and one of £3m and the latest accounts again show two donations both of £1m.

No idea what to make of that!

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 03/07/2024 17:37

That should of course be $6m, not £6m.

Yes, it is indeed curious that the sum isn't mirrored in Archewell's 2022 tax return. I suppose there is a chance that the money wasn't received until the 2023 tax year, but then that begs the question where it went between leaving Fidelity's account and hitting Archewell's (unless the transaction happened right at the point where the tax year changed).

pearlfritillary · 03/07/2024 18:43

I've seen some interesting posts joining dots between people that possibly/maybe were involved in the selection of the Duke of Sussex. Also, over on the change.org petition, which has exceeded 50,000, there seems to be some sort of moderation happening.

This has made me spill my coffee!😂

And actually (irrelevant, I know...) I do think that Meghan has been at the Ozempic (as if she needs it!) and that partly explains for the strange changes to her face I've noticed recently.

It’s a shame it if so because she definitely doesn’t look better. She was fine before:

Twitter have discovered The Pat Tillman charity has been categorised as "Not recommended" to donate to because of how little of their funds are used for charity. Not good and so sad, I guess that makes it even more likely the nomination was in return for money.

That's interesting @Thedom I had a look at their page yesterday, and got an uneasy feeling reading the chair bio (PT's wife). Major Tom vibes.

How very depressing

Thedom · 03/07/2024 20:42

@Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar you weren't wrong. I guess it answers why his Mom was not involved in the charity.

Depressing is right @Locusteater 😣

How do Harry and Meghan constantly get exposed as having connections to nefarious and unscrupulous people.

IsoldeWagner · 03/07/2024 20:44

God knows, @Thedom . Their judgement is just staggeringly bad.

BruFord · 03/07/2024 20:53

*But that’s the point though. Pat Tillman was an exceptional man who did exceptional things. And so his award should go to someone else who is exceptional.

Harry is not exceptional. If I woke up tomorrow to discover that I was a royal then I would probably do similar. I am also not exceptional. I am very ordinary.

But there are people out there who do do amazing things. Exceptional things. And one of them should receive the Pat Tillman award.*

^^I agree with @Mumofteenandtween Harry should graciously decline the award.

Harry was very close to PA and learnt it all from him ?

Nefarious activities behind a charity facade ... sounds very Sussex to me!

TallestSally · 03/07/2024 21:08

Shame his mam was not on the board.

Arguably she loved him more. Loved him longest. Loved him best. She would no doubt be horrified if anything other than a true beautiful legacy to her son could be suggested. Including those linked to any award.

Sometimes memorial foundations can walk in a different direction when pound signs come into play.

And those who should be honoured fall by the wayside in favour of those who want to be honoured. Demand to be honoured. Schmooze so that they may be honoured. Or even worse, perhaps fling a few quid to be honoured.

A shame.

Fly faster Mary.

It just gets worse and worse. The Captain Tom debacle probably pales into insignificance when it comes to how charities are run in the US.

It's all so murky.

Archewell's last accounts show most of the money raised spent on inexplicable executive payrises.

Anyone really surprised to see Henry adjacent duplicity?

They need the men in grey suits .

I agree, @Mylovelygreendress
I don’t understand why Harry would particularly want to receive aby awards, tbh. He hates the media spotlight/intrusion, doesn’t he? This type of thing is guaranteed to thrust him into it again. Why not decline it and get on with his life.

Locusteater · 03/07/2024 22:06

Cos he doesn’t really have a life outside this stuff it seems. Which is very sad.

Vespanest · 03/07/2024 22:36

i don’t know if it’s because I’m ex military or that I’m involved in a military charity but that has really upset me. What a disgrace for those who run the foundation to allow this in the name of a man who put the military before money. Over 73% of 5 million is disgraceful on expenses

He doesn't hate the media - he loves it. He loves the attention, the celebrity, the reporting on him and his wife.
What he hates is negative media attention. When outlets are critical, or try to hold him to account, or challenge his truthfulness, or question sleazy connections.
He does not like that one bit.

BruFord · 04/07/2024 22:19

@IsoldeWagner I suppose I’ve always bought the line that he blamed the intrusive media for Diana’s death and wanted to get away from them.

I can’t pretend to understand his choices though, many of their decisions make no sense to me, and this is just another one.

Yes. He could very easily have lead a low key life with minimal press intrusion. He and Meghan made the decision to be high profile. Using agents and expensive PR companies, touting themselves around, ensuring they get the clicks, always releasing images and information about their lives. They love it.

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 04/07/2024 23:28

Indeed, @IsoldeWagner. When do you ever really hear anything much about Beatrice or Eugenie ? Just the occasional royal function type thing then back behind wherever their walls are and their quiet lives. If H&M wanted to they could easily live a very discreet, comfortable, luxurious life. However their insatiable desire for publicity appears to be devouring them.
