I’d heard of Elizabeth Duke but not Elizabeth Tuke!

Bless her, she probably got Markled like Gina.

Meghans's dog

I won't say it 😂

CoffeeCantata · 12/06/2024 09:01

I know the Squaddies like to claim Meghan's critics make things up, but I haven't made this up - I just can't remember where I came across it. I might be Tom Bower in Revenge - but I can't check because I borrowed that from someone a while ago! Possibly someone else might be able to confirm or not.

Apparetnly at the wedding Meghan was very insistent that Doria sat alone, not with members of the RF (as the RF wished and urged). I remember (in the innocent days when I was thrilled at the union of M & H) how sad it was to see Doria sitting there, totally unsupported and shedding a tear.

Whoever it was I heard/read this from believed it was all part of the plan to keep Doria away from the RF - in case she spoke out of turn (we know Meghan likes to be in total control). But there was also a suggestion that the optics would be bad for the RF - making it look to the world as though they had deliberately shunned and isolated Doria. I have no idea what Meghan's reasoning was, but I have to say that, in view of her later behaviour, I wouldn't put it past her to try and manipulate the situation to feed into her 'the RF are racist' narrative - even from this early point.

I have never understood why Meghan didn’t have Doria walk her down the aisle in the absence of her father. I can understand her going it alone from a feminist perspective, but then Charles accompanied her half way, which makes no sense from a feminist point of view, let alone a traditional one. Mind you, iirc Charles sourced a lot of the elements of the service that made it ethnically diverse and multicultural. Sodding old racist.

Oh yes - I remember reading about how all the music suggestions had come from Charles too, because M & H admitted they hadn't the first clue about music (what are they like, the utter philistines?). And how gorgeous it was too: Handel's Eternal Source of Light Divine, the lovely cello piece Apres un Reve and the superb Gospel choir. Yes, the terrible old racist bigot that he is.

@CoffeeCantata

These are the only mentions I can see in Revenge about Doria at the wedding AFAICS

Ah - thanks Mrs F. It must have been from somewhere else. I wish I had the foresight to make a note of these things!

DelectableMe · 12/06/2024 16:53

Charles chose the music.
He also booked the Gospel Choir. Also the Black cellist. Also the Black preacher.
So. He paid for what he thought would be a beautiful wedding for them, being considerate of Meghan's heritage, and being inclusive.
I genuinely don't know what more he could have done.

Mylovelygreendress · 12/06/2024 17:45

@DelectableMe he could have arranged for them to get married in Westminster Abbey ( complete with red carpet) and persuaded the late Queen to gift H and M Windsor Castle .
Simples .

DelectableMe · 12/06/2024 17:46

Yes, he could! What a mean, thoughtless man.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 12/06/2024 17:49

And disinherited PW so Harry and Meghan became king and queen after him.

DelectableMe · 12/06/2024 17:51

Then abdicated in their favour having recognised their greatness.

Exactly 👏👏

The Sussex friendly Mirror newspaper did an article about Meghan keeping Doria away from William and Catherine when they asked to meet her. It also said Meghan thought she was superior to Catherine, having had a career and having done all expenses paid photo shoots for pay to play charitable organisations humanitarian work.

I heard or read that the Middletons had invited Meghan and Doria to Bucklebury on more than one occasion but the invitations were always declined. I'm sorry - I've failed again to remember the source of this information, but I could well believe it. I think it's the sort of thing they might do, considering the closeness (until then) of Catherine and Harry, and the Middletons seem to be a nice, uncomplicated lot.

Abouttimeforanamechange · 12/06/2024 22:50

I genuinely don't know what more he [Charles] could have done.

He paid for and hosted the wedding reception too, which according to Finding Freedom went way over budget. H&M could spend Pa's money on tacky things like chocolate fountains (I mean, really, for a couple in their thirties!) but couldn't sort out the music for their own wedding ceremony.

I enjoyed watching H&M's wedding, but I wondered then why Doria didn't bring a friend with her for company.

I remember Catherine inviting Meghan to the tennis with her sister. I do think C tried with M despite what M
says about her being cold and unwelcoming. M always wants to control every situation. She wouldn’t have wanted to be the newcomer in a large happy family situation.

Maybe Doria didn’t want to do it.

I don't think Meghan is necessarily controlling, I think she was pitched into a situation she was unprepared for and it brought her insecurities to the surface.

I don't know why women are expected to be best friends just because they marry brothers. It's clear that Catherine and Meghan are very different but there are plenty of examples of them getting on in public which is all that was really necessary. Most of the stuff about the way Catherine supposedly treated Meghan we heard from Harry rather than Meghan and Harry is not a reliable narrator.

CremeFresh · 13/06/2024 09:59

I think ARO has lost a few more subscribers.

Scobie too in Endgame. Blaming Catherine for Meghan not receiving mental health assistance.

ThereAreNoSloesOnThere · 13/06/2024 11:04

Ive just gone again onto the insta and website of ARO. Still nothing at all is there other than the title. But I found this fairly recent article. From what I can see (and I am not processing things well as I am ill) someone has ripped the brand off and selling stuff on shopify. And trademarked it!

Meghan Markle’s lifestyle brand name used to sell adult colouring books

The colouring books have already sold out

Guess that'll be yet another lawsuit then Grin
Except I'm not sure what the point would be in "protecting" a company if it's never going to do anything ...

AliceOlive · 13/06/2024 11:12

Oh that’s funny! One of the “supportive” posters has posted a fawning twitter account with a Shopify link in it last night.
