I think that both M and H think that their temporary royal gold dust will spin straw into gold. But they never realised that their gold dust was reflective only.

It's been said many times before, but the crux of the problem is that M just doesn't get the difference between celebrity and royalty. She thinks it's about being attractive, glamorous and knocking us for six with her wardrobe, when the whole point of royalty is that whatever they look like, or whatever their characters, they are mysteriously, enigmatically ROYAL, and that's the whole point. I'm sentimentally fond of the RF, but I have no illusions that, if they weren't royal, they'd make very little impact on a personal level.
Meghan is a middle-aged woman with serious personality issues: a need to manipulate others and to be the centre of attention, but with nothing otherwise to distinguish her from a thousand other 3rd-rate cable actors. As the royal connection fades, I expect her behaviour (and projects) will become ever more bizarre.
