If I recall there were two different images from Meghan’s walk down the aisle. The second bit was with the future King, but she walked the first bit by herself.

...like Maria in 'The Sound of Music'. Then Charles stepped forward and at some point I think Harry said, "Thanks, Pa", but I am not an experienced lip-reader. I suppose that was when M and C got up to H.

Once the labour government are in ,Harry and Meghan will be coming back
i particularly remember Harry refusing to shake Boris s hand ( not that I would want to )
I think they will leverage support from certain female mainly labour politicians and come home “a royalling “ - half in half out
job done 👍

That is why they are prepping the ground with the U.K. PR hire - they can see a labour government will be a more welcoming environment

What? 😳

YaMuvva · 02/06/2024 11:08

If Harry did refuse to shake Boris’s hand - which I find hard to believe - that’s deplorable because the Royals should always be apolitical

I don’t see why a Labour govt would be more supportive of H&M? Traditionally the Tory party are seen as more supportive of high earners and the party of aristocrats. (Though I appreciate it’s all muddled at the moment.). It is not the same as Republicans vs Democrats at all. If they believe that the Labour Party are going to worship them and agree to pay for everything, I think they are in for a bit of a shock.

JSMill · 02/06/2024 11:13

@smilesy Interesting what you are saying about keeping unwanted attention away from them. Do you remember when M went to Wimbledon with a couple of friends and they sat in an area with empty seats around them? Some guy was taking a selfie and was told by her security he wasn't allowed to take photos. He wasn't even taking a picture of her!! It's bloody Wimbledon. If you are a well known face, you can expect to have your picture taken or be on the tv screen.

Cringe 😬

Meghan walked halfway down the aisle on her own as it was her moment - no one else there to detract from her. She must have absolutely loved it. She thought she was the biggest thing to happen to the RF ever. They were all rotting in medieval times waiting for her to raise them up and show them how it was done. Then it began to go wrong because she wasn't the centre of the RF.

Wimbledon was hilarious because nothing says 'Look at me, I'm a celeb' than having banks of empty seats around you at a major sporting event and security to keep the sweaty masses at bay. Of course she assumed the bloke was taking pics of her, because why wouldn't he want to?

I doubt very much if people like Angela Rayner or Rachel Reeves will have any time for a pair of over privileged aristos!

I do think celebrities have an inflated sense of “leave me alone-uh!”

Ive told this before but I was at a service station cafe many year ago and went to the sugar/stirrer station which was next to a table with 2 men on it. One of the men came up to me and said “No pictures or autograph requests please, not today!” Really quite aggressively I was Confused and said “What?”. He then gave it all “He just wants to enjoy his coffee in peace!!” I said I’ve no idea what you mean I’m getting sugar, barged past him to get my sugar, as he sneered in a ‘yeah right’ kinda way. My mum who was waiting at another table informed me that John Barrowman was the other man. I can’t stand John Barrowman and I was furious at the thought that they’d say “Oh some thing moan charged towards him and when I blocked her so John could have privacy she pretended to get sugar”.

Incidentally a colleague of mine was walking (and apparently daydreaming) through NYC and walked through an alleyway when she saw someone she knew and said “Hiya y’alright” as an automatic greeting. The chap replied “Good thank you how are you” and she said the good old British “not too bad thanks”. It was a minute later she realised she didn’t know him it was Nicolas Cage 😂😂

That's so funny. The 'I don't want attention but I'll make sure you know I'm here so you don't give me any attention' act; which is what MM did at Wimbledon. Does it stem from a howling insecurity or what?

I live in London and you see celebs on public transport sometimes. They always seem to be looking around to see if anyone has noticed it's them.

YaMuvva · 02/06/2024 11:39

Didn’t a Sugababe once get caught driving without insurance and she argued in court that she HAD to do that because she couldn’t take the Tube as she was sooo famous 🤣🤣

I'm not sure a Labour government will be what they're most interested in.
A Trump presidency (God forbid! But it may happen) wouldn't be exactly great for them.

myrtleWilson · 02/06/2024 11:44

Allegedly getting those Wimbledon seats cleared of spectators is always a 🤯moment - I mean I can't imagine the thought process (if indeed that is what happened - I suppose they could have bought all the tickets in that space or perhaps no one was bothered by tennis that day)

NGL, I really admire the chutzpah of someone who asks and gets something like that. It's a level of entitlement and self-importance I can't imagine myself having. Contrast that with late HM and Prince Philip going to the theatre and taking their seats as the lights went down so no-one knew.

Abouttimeforanamechange · 02/06/2024 11:57

I did think I might have seen Prince Harry on the Tube once. Years ago, before he had the beard. It was a young man with red hair, with a baseball cap pulled well down, so I couldn't see his face properly. I looked around to see if I could spot the Protection Officer, but couldn't, which I suppose is the idea.

I was with my mum in a railway station cafe in a city in the Midlands once. Peter O'Toole and another well known actor (I've forgotten who it was) were at another table. They were appearing in something at the theatre in that city. They were minding their own business and no-one was bothering them.

Him of the flopping a boaby out and being handsy for shits and giggles but it is okay because I’m a gay man and woman can’t get offended?

I used to think he was ok before that.

The man is a tube.

Not Nic Cage. The preening gobshite.

I've just tried to watch the Netflix Harry and Meghan thing after reading about it on here. Dear God, its dull. I've given up after 20 mins.

StartupRepair · 02/06/2024 12:47

That reminds me of the ultimate piece of pomposity. The trailer for Netflix. 'when the stakes are this high, wouldn't you rather hear the story from us?'. Actually the stakes are not high for anyone at all here except you.

Catherine managed to sit with the public to watch a Harriet Dart ( I think) match on an outside court.

People have said it on here before - long term weed use can lead to paranoia.

Their house is allegedly downwind of a cannabis farm so they are surrounded by the I forgot cannabis 24/7.

What are the stakes exactly? Maybe they meant “steaks” as the price of a restaurant meal has gone up, so any kind of home entertainment, even their inane reality show, is nice as an alternative to a night out.

😂😂😂

And by “hear it from us” maybe they mean their food order? Wouldn’t want to mis-order an expensive sirloin instead of a rump when you only have £10million to spare.
