Why do Harry and Meghan tell porkies that are so easy to prove wrong?

Starting with the porkie that Archie wasn’t gonna be titled. Anyone who understands the Letters Patent would know that as long as the Queen was alive this was never gonna happen. I said this when watching the Oprah interview and I’m pretty appalled they told such an easily provable lie.

Then Harry said that daddy cut his security off. Anyone who knows about RAVEC knows it is independent of the Royal Family and Charles couldn’t do this if he tried. Same with “Only titled people get security” / this was so easy to prove wrong.

And why are there 2 versions of the proposal story. Did they think we wouldn’t notice? Is one a Hollywood version for their American audience?

The same with the ‘how they met’ story - in their engagement interview they said it was a blind date, to Netflix they met on Instagram.

I also was puzzled at her saying she never wore bright colours and that royal women could never wear the same colour as the Queen. It’s just nonsense. See below pictures.

Why do they do this? My theory is that everything they do now is for an American audience who are used to the reality TV narrative of “Some scenes have been created for entertainment” style TV and just accept their narrative as partly fictional, as long as it’s entertaining?

Why? Are you hard of reading.

I'm the opposite of jealous of the Harkles. Apart from a healthy bank balance which would be nice, there's nothing about those 2 I'd be jealous of - nothing

GingerPirate · 28/05/2024 18:45

Because they are, unfortunately, sick and sad
individuals.

Probably the esker they get out of discussing literally anyone in their lives. Especially 2 people costing taxpayers money and who are doing untold damage to our worldwide reputation with their lies.

If someone is forcing you to be here against your will I suggest you call 101

I think our government has done more damage to our reputation than they have and our reputation on the world stage hasn't been great for decades anyway.

And they aren't funded by the taxpayer, haven't been since they left so do tell me how they are still costing us?

"The same with the ‘how they met’ story - in their engagement interview they said it was a blind date, to Netflix they met on Instagram"

If I'm being extremely generous, then they may have had a first "virtual meeting" on insta, then had a first "proper meeting" (a proper date[ that was arranged through a friend. It wouldn't have been a "blind" date, but the term gets mis-used when a third party brings a couple together.

As for "crocodile" as a baby's first word... well with a babbling baby that sequence of phonemes could feasibly just come out by accident. Once my seven month-old baby said "Adelaide, at a later date" purely by accident in the manner of the monkey-typewriter-bible scenario. Sounds were coming out at random and the Adelaide comment was preceeded and followed by a lot of babyish nonsense. That was possibly the case with Archie.

But other than those two concessions, yeah lots of shameless lies and silly exaggerations.

DD clearly said "dead dog hedgehog" at about 14 months (she was very slow to talk, then didn't stop). As at the time we possessed neither a dog nor a hedgehog (quite randomly some 18 years later we have both as pets), we too assumed monkey-typewriter syndrome...

Noshowlomo · 28/05/2024 18:57

Still laughing at what @LunaNorth said. Imagining a cute little ginger kid saying “croc o shite” 😂😂😂 brilliant

Of course they cost us. Royal offices still deal with their affairs and not to mention RAVEC funded security and the court case that cost the taxpayer £500k with no knowledge of Harry is gonna foot the bill.

Yes the government have damaged our reputation but so have H&M.

Speaking personally I can understand people having affairs, I can understand that paedophiles exist but I can't understand the mindset of someone who tells lies that are so easy to disprove.

I'm interested in what kind of delusion you'd have to have to do that

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 28/05/2024 19:04

Because other people don't actually exist for those sort. They're just the audience on which the liars rehearse their alternate realities and their 'truth'. Oh that didn't fly? I'll try this one.

ExasperatedDancer · 28/05/2024 19:09

Harry and Meghan repeatedly lie because they are Dull and Dim. If they didn't make stuff up then no one would be talking about them because they're simply not interesting enough under their own talents to hold media attention.

The claim to not know how to curtsey was another obvious and blatant lie. Meghan used to go to ballet classes, she even said (on her defunct blog?) after class she used to go out to eat with her father, so the dance training was not secret.

Anyone who has ever done ballet knows how to curtsey as every lesson ends with one. 🙄

Misthios · 28/05/2024 19:13

I actually don't blame Meghan for a lot of this stuff. She didn't grow up here and probably never heard the term "letters patent" in her life. She was not aware of all the protocol and the rules and the pecking order and the rest of it and why should she be? However, it was Harry's job to lead her into his world and explain all this stuff to her, and he failed big time.

Tlolljs · 28/05/2024 19:18

DaphneBlake101 · 28/05/2024 16:00

But the point about Archie's title was that the Queen did change the rules for Charlotte and Louis, who also shouldn't have been Princess and Prince from birth. If she did for two of Charles' grandchildren, I can see why the question arose as to why she didn't for the other. Also it appeared that from Meghan's understanding, security arrangements had become linked to the title so Archie wasn't provided security separate to Harry's security detail at birth because he wasn't a Prince.

Not quite Her majesty changed the rules in case William and Catherine’s first born was a girl who wouldn’t now be leapfrogged by her brothers in line of succession. But she wouldn’t have been a princess but ant subsequent boys would be princes.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 28/05/2024 19:20

Meghan was offered guidance and she turned it down because she had Harry. Even Diana tripped up and she was brought up in royal circles, so why anyone at BP thought Harry would be an adequate source of advice is baffling. There are always the arcane details that someone brought up with them and taking them for granted might miss.

milveycrohn · 28/05/2024 19:20

@YaMuvva
"Actually she changed the rules before George was even born (and before Meghan was on the scene) to prevent sibling envy of the Wales’s children".

I understood the letters patent were changed simply because under the old system, if Charlotte (a girl) had been born first, she would not have had a title, whereas George, if he had been born second, would have had.
The point being that the law was changed in 2013, so that Charlotte was in the LoS after George, despite being a girl. ie it was a law change to make girls equal to boys, and in future would be in the line of succession in birth order.
However, this could be difficult if the eldest child was a girl, without a title, whereas the second child a boy would have a title.
So, instead of the title being given to the eldest SON, a title was given to ALL the children who were direct heirs.
This compares to Princess Ann who comes way down the list after P Andrew and P. Edward, as the law was not enacted restrospectively.

ChrisPPancake · 28/05/2024 19:22

@YaMuvva I know little about them (and care less tbh) but that picture in your op of Kate and the Queen in the same colour? They're both quite clearly saying to William "You told me she was wearing GREEN!" The scowl is right there. He's proper in the dog house.

Tuwhituwhoo · 28/05/2024 19:23

FanofLeaves · 28/05/2024 16:38

Really? You think it’s believable that an infant can enunciate the three syllable word ‘crocodile’ which is pretty sophisticated pronunciation for very small children, especially the ‘cr’ which would come out as ‘cw’ for the vast majority. I have a very bright toddler who was an early talker myself but come on. I don’t count the first word as one that the parents know what the child is trying to say, I count it as a clear and obvious pronunciation that others could hear and understand too.

Yes I do think it was a lie, just a random boast probably, but I’m also going to remember this is Mumsnet so I’m waiting for someone to post that their child’s first word was ‘conservatory’ or ‘restaurant’ or something like that.

My niece’s first word was “fingernail” - clear as a bell. I was there, it really happened, we were astonished.

@FanofLeaves I read these words eg, waffle maker & crocodile were M & H’s in jokes & ref to sexual positions to have a laugh at public’s expense. Seems far fetched.

I’ve never heard of those, I wonder what sex manuals they’ve been reading 😁

I think they lie because they can. They’re an odd couple, two strange people who found each other.

MaturingCheeseball · 28/05/2024 19:28

A poster pointed out on another thread that Meghan said she’d never experienced racism before the UK, yet had previously given an interview in which she said she’d had racist comments after a black actor was cast as her father in Suits, in 2013.

Because she was marrying into it?
Of course she was told about it all

Re the curtsey thing - it’s one of those Meghan stories which has got a bit twisted.

I don’t think she claimed not to ‘know’ how to curtsey but that she didn’t know family members ‘had’ to in private.

I think it was perfectly reasonable for an American to not realize that the curtseying was not just done ceremonially in public.

I assume Fergie running out to ‘teach’ her was just Fergie double checking ‘the American’ got it right.

What was very hypocritical of her is how she told the story for the second time in the Netflix doc and completely mocked the whole thing - fair enough if you think it’s nonsense but it’s part of the whole royal package - if you accept and use the titles you are buying into the system. If you think the system is ridiculous you shouldn’t be so invested in the titles.

That is true but I’d the LP had remained the same pre-2013 only George would’ve been titled Prince not Charlotte and Louis.

I am because no one wanted to talk about what the First Lady of Nigeria said. 🫤

why? What did the 1st lady of Nigeria say?

Because they're stupid narcissists.
