Why do Harry and Meghan tell porkies that are so easy to prove wrong?

Starting with the porkie that Archie wasn’t gonna be titled. Anyone who understands the Letters Patent would know that as long as the Queen was alive this was never gonna happen. I said this when watching the Oprah interview and I’m pretty appalled they told such an easily provable lie.

Then Harry said that daddy cut his security off. Anyone who knows about RAVEC knows it is independent of the Royal Family and Charles couldn’t do this if he tried. Same with “Only titled people get security” / this was so easy to prove wrong.

And why are there 2 versions of the proposal story. Did they think we wouldn’t notice? Is one a Hollywood version for their American audience?

The same with the ‘how they met’ story - in their engagement interview they said it was a blind date, to Netflix they met on Instagram.

I also was puzzled at her saying she never wore bright colours and that royal women could never wear the same colour as the Queen. It’s just nonsense. See below pictures.

Why do they do this? My theory is that everything they do now is for an American audience who are used to the reality TV narrative of “Some scenes have been created for entertainment” style TV and just accept their narrative as partly fictional, as long as it’s entertaining?

I don't think she was mocking herself when she says the whole idea felt like a weird medieval ritual so she went all out.
Sounded more like a mockery of RF etiquette pandering to US sensibilities.

The embarrassed and irritated expression of Harry's face when she did her mocking bow suggests that he thought she was making fun of the RF, not herself.

Lassi · 29/05/2024 09:58

I wonder how things will work out when their children are older? Imagine being a teenager with a royal dad but having no relationship with the royal family. It will be so weird for them.

YaMuvva · 29/05/2024 09:58

DingDingaling · 29/05/2024 09:49

Nope. Again this is the inability of some to have any objectivity or understanding that Meghan actually has a goofy side when it comes to humour.

….she was MOCKING herself! It was never about mocking the Queen, RIP. You’ve only to watch or read the many, many times she praised her late Majesty.

Of course she never personally attacked her - QE2 was loved the world over and that would have been foolish. However she attacked everything QE2 stood for, has created and upheld and that IS personal even if she isn’t making comments about the woman herself.

I don’t pretend to know what goes on behind closed doors. From the outside what do we know. However, does with greater external strains make it harder.

IsoldeWagner · 29/05/2024 10:00

She certainly made jibes about the late Queen with the "service is universal" and the "jurisdiction of using the word royal" comments.
Very snide.

They are just strangers. They may be curious when they are older. But the future isn’t written so who knows what could happen.

So I’ll start off by saying whilst I’m not a Meghan fan per se I massively respect her eloquence, confidence and tenacity. I’ll never forget the Fab Four panel where she was running rings around the others. Sadly, Kate (despite all her education) could barely string a sentence together in public for many years. I personally also really like her style and hair choices.

But she is a narcissist. And narcissists will literally say anything in the moment to make themselves look good. Hence all the porkies - M says what makes her look to the audience in front of her at the time. It’s also why she gives off that sickly sweet/ disingenuous vibe.

Edited

Was she running rings around others?! I didn’t think so. It felt like waffley word salad about female empowerment but no ACTUAL ideas, suggestions or advice on how women can tangibly do better in life

No Meghan did not. She talked about her own experiences, feelings, views and mindset. The UK media would not have that and thus began one of the worst campaigns they’ve ever waged against one person.

AuroraCake · 29/05/2024 10:03

Hardly, they are horrible to women in general. Absolutely endemic sexism.

IdoldeWagner · 29/05/2024 10:06

No. There is no such thing. It's all a bit tinfoil hat to think that "the UK media" (sic) would act as a hive mind.
Apply critical thinking here. The Times, Guardian, Independent, the tabloids, BBC news, C4, radio etc etc do not all act as one.
I have a negative opinion of Harry and Meghan from what they have said and done themselves.

Well Harry didn't see the humour in it, or appreciate her 'goofy' side.

😂 To reference Harry if you can’t see it no one can help you.

I was going to say whilst anyone with a modicum of sense could tell Meghan wasn’t really saying anything of much substance (but good communication rarely concerns the actual words said). IMO there is no disputing Meehan had the charisma of a Hollywood actress which put her streaks ahead of the others, especially Kate who is always stiff and only recently stopped looking visibly uncomfortable.

Don't get personal
No need.
This is a problem, isn't it? Argue with the discussion points but juvenile put downs are not necessary or helpful.

I think Millie Dowler’s parents would disagree with you.

Meghan courts the media to the nth degree, they publish what she says and does - it’s so weird people actually buy that they are the problem when she says and does things precisely to make them pay attention.

And that’s just bollocks - she trashed so much about the institution, it didn’t meet her US standards and she was highly critical of the processes and traditions QE2 spent 7 decades upholding. Then had the nerve to name her child after the woman she so rudely trashed. Awful behaviour - and nothing to do with the media

Now that I do agree with! Meghan herself referred to her goofy side. Harry often acts as though he has a stick up his ass. However, when he engages with the public he is lovely.

I totally disagree that Meghan has charisma. Confidence and charisma are not the same thing.
I do think Catherine has it, in the context of her being a future Queen representing the RF. I don’t WANT some feminist spiel from women whose literal job it is to follow men around and I appreciate that Catherine doesn’t go there when she talks.

Was that your impression of the royal foundation event. I was astonished that she had only been on the scene for two minutes and she clearly thought the spotlight should be on her. She hogged the event. She waffled on about women having their voices heard. What on earth did that have to do with the work of the royal foundation?
Recently a video from that event popped up on my Facebook. As Kate is talking, M smirks and gives a side eye in H's direction. She looked like a real mean girl.

Harry suffers from the affliction his granny and great granny had - a resting bitch face. I thought he looked miserable on his wedding day but clearly he wasn’t.

Wow you’re defending well documented tabloid culture and its vileness. UK media is renowned the world over as the worst. No wonder some of its consumers are contemptible in the way they drag on Harry and Meghan.

The world turns on a dime.

Because my initial statement literally centred on the performance of the ‘Fab Four’. And the charisma Meghan possesses which the others do not imo.

Don’t make it out like I’m pitting women against each other. Comparison was perfectly adequate in this context.

Harry and Meghan damage themselves.
They've no need to get the tabloids to help.
All the lies have come directly from them. Their fault, their behaviour.

Well I agree Meghan did herself no favours by being too overbearing. Classic narc behaviour.
