Part 6 of positive threads, delving into all things Meghan and Harry. Whether it’s the causes they support, their business initiatives, or Meghan’s fashion choices (Harry’s too, on occasion 😉), there’s plenty to discuss Just a pro-tip - that there may be use of MLE terms and discussions of dupes - you might want to exit stage left if these things offend. This is a relatively drama free zone - let’s keep things light! Clinking a glass of lemonade 🥂 to @queentim for the original inspiration.

" Bang on trend" isn't always the best attitude to adopt for outfits though.

I agree - no point in being 'on trend' if it doesn't suit you!

LaMarschallin · 29/07/2024 15:27

The picture I saw looked like the trousers were pudding around her feet. A bit like the trend for curtains that are too long to show you can afford pointless excess curtain material.
A friend who was always talking about being "posh" (but very nice in other ways) had them. Used to take her ages arranging them every morning and evening and she'd still jump up every now and then during the day to tweak them.
I'm impressed Meghan could walk without tripping over folds of material.

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 29/07/2024 15:52

I feel really bad for the original posters. There are some genuine people on here and I find them respectful even if I don’t necessarily agree with them. The influx of a certain group of people only spoils it for these fans. By spamming and trolling (even in favour of H&M) you run the risk of having one of the few pro/positive threads pulled down. I hope these posters will learn their lesson.

Me too.

She wore a lovely yellow dress in Nigeria. It fitted her nicely too.

Oh yeah, so she did! It’s a lovely colour on her but I don’t like the fit (looks more like maternity wear to my eye) but she looked good in it. I ADORE those earrings but would have chosen a longer necklace or no necklace at all. It is probably one of my favourite outfits from the Nigeria tour (though truth be told I wasn’t overly keen on any of them). I much prefer her in this similar coloured sheath dress that she wore in 2018. It’s a glorious colour on her! Please Meghan, wear more colours! Her hair looks nice in these photos too, soft and not too severe looking.

I like the fit because I'm always hot! It looks cool.

I do agree though that the other yellow dress looks gorgeous on her.

It is maternity wear. First worn in a photo of a pregnant MM doing a “Notting Hill” pose with her head in Harry’s lap in their garden, taken remotely by Misan Harriman. This photo has become a photoshop bone of contention in certain quarters on SM. The other contentious photo is one of the Sussexes and their children supposedly at Frogmore Cottage over the Jubilee weekend. In that one she is wearing the floral shirt dress she wore this year in March at the children’s hospital, when it was spotted to have a hole in it. Re-wearing an outfit first associated with a controversial event at a subsequent, more positive event, is a Kardashian trick - the search algorithms change. So the search “Meghan yellow dress” will result in links to her (positive) Nigeria event rather than the earlier picture that has become controversial.

Yes, wear bright string colours and not that insipid beige “caca du dauphin” shade.

Sunnydaysandthebeach · 29/07/2024 22:54

I like the floaty one more than a fitted look. She can certainly wear yellow well. The earrings look nice, probs too expensive for me though.

Yeah, well out of my budget 🤣🫣

Meghan seems absolutely perverse in her love for baggy beige.

She has a stunning figure and long, slim legs and she looks great in rich colours.

You sometimes do encounter people who could look amazing but they choose quite deliberately to wear say, a black sack. I speak as someone who might need to wear a black sack and baggy beige.

I think she looks better in colour as I’ve said before, but I actually think it’s the fact that the clothes are badly fitted that is worse. I think her “perverse love of beige” is just down to the fact that she thinks it signals billionaire style, so if she gets offered something in her preferred shade of meh to wear, she will, regardless of whether it fits properly or suits her.

PS @CoffeeCantata I’m sure you don’t need to wear beige or a sack 😆

sausawyee · 30/07/2024 11:31

Let's be honest she looked a mess dressed in old baggy linen clothing. She would have been better going to Marshalls. The trousers are so long as she hates her feet - she has said so. The outfit made me think of those photos from the Depression when people had to wear clothing made of old flour sacks.

sausawyee · 30/07/2024 11:35

@CoffeeCantata while I normally agree with you I don't on this occasion. Meghan has a very difficult figure to dress- she has no waist and very little up top. She does have long legs but they are very thin. With the right clothes she could be dressed beautifully eg the yellow dress cuts her legs at the right spot. The shorts do nothing for her.

If she doesn’t like her feet, why doesn’t she just wear shoes that cover them, rather than risk life and limb in dangerously long clothes 🤷‍♀️

Thedom · 30/07/2024 14:50

In that photo she appears to be the same height as Misha Nonoo, when in reality she is much shorter than her, I wonder if she may have been camouflaging really high platform shoes, although that doesn’t account for the outfit looking like it belongs to someone several sizes bigger than her.

Twistybranch · 30/07/2024 15:24

She has a tan shoulder bag with her, so she’ll be wearing tan high heels. Which unless they are open toed- really don’t go with linen trousers

My point was more why does she wear super long trousers if she doesn’t like her feet, why doesn’t she wear something else and shoes that cover her feet 🤷‍♀️

sausawyee · 30/07/2024 17:37

I believe she had bunion surgery on her left foot where there is a scar and has a bunion on the right. This may well be why.

I agree with you . She really needs a stylist and dressmaker to ensure that her clothes fit her ( and are ironed).

LaMarschallin · 30/07/2024 18:29

Ouch! Her bunion looks worse than mine.
But, as smilesy said, it would be so much easier to wear shoes that just cover it.
The trousers dragging on the floor look so odd - like a child on the first day of school whose parents hope they'll grow into them.
Even then, no parents would buy trousers that puddle like that.

Besides which, if the worst thing she has to worry about is slightly lumpy feet, she is very lucky 😆
