Part 5 of (mostly ๐Ÿ˜‚) drama-free and positive threads, delving into all things Meghan and Harry. Whether itโ€™s the causes they support, their business initiatives, or Meghanโ€™s fashion choices (Harryโ€™s too, on occasion ๐Ÿ˜‰), thereโ€™s plenty to discuss. Just a pro-tip - that there may be use of MLE terms and discussions of dupes - you might want to exit stage left if these things offend. Hat tip to @queentim for the original inspiration.

So glad we have so many people here from the diaspora to tell us about how things are ๐Ÿ˜‰

Anyway I spied a gele and cloth in the Meghan's presents.

Like Harry born a British Prince, telling a Nigerian veteran who lost his leg that he must name it, how to manage his loss.

Or Sussex Squad attacking a Nigerian woman for her opinions about this tour Harry and Meghan are on of her country.

No between the US and the UK.

Oh gosh, thereโ€™s not a huge gap in etiquette or culture between the two. Americans arenโ€™t all absolute idiots. Most of us cop on pretty quickly.

Iโ€™m an American who has lived in England for 15 years and so I will respectfully disagree.

Overtheatlantic · 11/05/2024 16:59

Except yes weโ€™re not all idiots! ๐Ÿคฃ

Ratsoffasinkingsauage · 11/05/2024 16:59

@AliceOlive I wouldnโ€™t bother engaging. As with the rabid threads about the Princess of Wales photo, the die hards are hoisting themselves on the into the arms of karma again and they wonโ€™t notice until it comes back to bite them.

In this case I would imagine that the afterburn
is going to be that the suppression of legitimate opinion from people in Nigeria of this sham tour makes them look like bigots and they donโ€™t have the self awareness to know this- much like their idol.

I bow to your eminent expertise in diaspora matters. Thanks for putting me straight. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

The cultural differences would have been so significant that itโ€™s hardly surprising she misunderstood a fair number of references and rules.

Honestly, the cultural differences would have been minimal, and should have been understood by Meghan what with her previous visits to the UK and the 30-something paged dossier that was written for her to help explain the more esoteric RF-related things.

The US and most of the UK are very very close in cultural references and norms these days. It's hardly the kind of culture shock you'd get going from, say, Iceland to Bhutan, or from New York to Japan, is it?

Meghan can hardly have been at sea in London. I mean, not by any stretch and even if she hadn't bothered to read the dossier or google anything.

Overtheatlantic · 11/05/2024 17:13

My own lived experience would tell me otherwise and then add to the BRF culture.

shockthemonkey · 11/05/2024 17:14

PS, before you bring out your credentials - "American living in the UK for x years, nobody else can have my insight" - I have lived in fifteen different countries including the UK and three different states in the US so I have a fair idea.

Before you start gaslighting me, oh wait too late.

Overtheatlantic · 11/05/2024 17:16

And I didnโ€™t say no one can have my insight. Shame on you.

I love this picture - I love the bronde braids - summer hair inspo vibes.

In what way am I gaslighting? Are you doubting any of what I've said? My father was a diplomat so I clocked my first ten countries before the age of 18. The remainder came after I began working.

shockthemonkey · 11/05/2024 17:19

To get back to the topic of the thread, I didn't like the dress on her, definitely preferred the suit - enough to have a look at where I might buy similar.

Invictus next - they went to a reception at the Defence Headquarters with a nod to the Nigerian Flag - Meghan wearing white and Harry green. Iโ€™m loving the rainbow geles the women are wearing - I knew the Naija ladies would be showing out!

It's so beautiful! M&H aso ebi!

Lovely thread. Makes a nice change on here. Nice to see mostly neutral-positive comments about them.

Do you think Meghan is telling her the story about how she wrote to Proctor and Gamble?

skullbabe · 11/05/2024 14:31

Anyway - she didnโ€™t go home last night and stayed for the gala. I think white really suits her.

I thought she wore that dress for a lunch ?

Sandwichgen · 11/05/2024 17:49

That's what the DM and the DT said - lunch. I'm assuming it will morph into a gala that continues well into the evening? That would make her choice of dress more understandable.

In my own opinion, too white saviour !

skullbabe · 11/05/2024 17:52

I think that green shirt might work - the green suit looked good yesterday.

Love it! Adire has had a big comeback! Would really love for Meg to wear something Nij!
I'm sure they have them traditional for their kiddies back home! So much beauty! So much love! ๐Ÿ’ž ๐Ÿ˜˜
