Part 5 of (mostly ๐Ÿ˜‚) drama-free and positive threads, delving into all things Meghan and Harry. Whether itโ€™s the causes they support, their business initiatives, or Meghanโ€™s fashion choices (Harryโ€™s too, on occasion ๐Ÿ˜‰), thereโ€™s plenty to discuss. Just a pro-tip - that there may be use of MLE terms and discussions of dupes - you might want to exit stage left if these things offend. Hat tip to @queentim for the original inspiration.

We would never, for instance, trade bank details with a friend to send them money. There are fees for that at most banks and we use Venmo or PayPal instead. Even that has mainly been since 2020.

jeffgoldblum · 15/05/2024 11:18

I know @AliceOlive ! I was shocked at the vitriol directed at a very ill woman.

skullbabe · 15/05/2024 08:51

@LaMarschallin I said there may be not there only will be in my OP. My reference to jollof was tongue in cheek as you well surmised but also as deliberate as someone from my part of the UK knowing the answer to โ€˜haโ€™ ya go a dickie boy?โ€™ - which coincidentally is not MLE. Hydrated and moisturised is related to being non ashy with your hair laid and being generally non problematic. The ladies were on point. Simples.

Edited

I said there may be not there only will be in my OP.

I know. I was just surprised there didn't seem to be any after the big build up.
I'm still not sure what the joloff reference means and you haven't explained that.

Hydrated and moisturised is related to being non ashy with your hair laid and being generally non problematic.

Oh. Right. Happy to believe that if you say it's an actual thing.

Simples

Is that more MLE or just a patronising reference to an advert? Given that "hydrated" didn't seem that "simples" to anyone.

Sorry to ask Alice , is it because America is so very large and has lots of rural areas separate from others?
Just curious.

AliceOlive · 15/05/2024 11:26

In my opinion, banking, insurance and medical providers are slower to adopt new technologies because of the risk and regulation involved.

They simply can't take it! Equating simply flying with complicated dexterous manoeuvres! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Conversation moved on, but I'm always happy to share any pilots skills.

Here's a video of William landing his helicopter on water. You can see the manoeuvre from 1.08 mins.

MrsFinkelstein · 15/05/2024 11:28

Ah, should have read on, see someone already posted it.

Nevermind, still think all pilots are amazing.

Iโ€™m not sure what systems are in place that mitigate risk there with sharing bank details. But I only share mine with major companies.

Recently someone told me his admin got an email telling her to update his payroll deposit to go to a different account. He was on holiday and it came from a gmail account in his name. Poof, his pay was gone. And he owns the business!

The relentless backlash against Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reveals a deeply ingrained resistance to change within traditional institutions. Harry's "crimes" of pursuing personal happiness and expressing his truth, coupled with Meghan's perceived "otherness," have triggered a defensive reaction aimed at preserving the status quo. Demands for apologies are futile; the true conflict lies in the clash between modernity and tradition, and this battle will undoubtedly continue to unfold with each new perceived transgression.

Yes. Harry's sin is shining a light on the absurd workings of the royal family. Will gets the top job for life and Harry gets to ride in the side cart for life. That reality is absurd - for starters. In speaking it he's broken the family code. This is why he gets backlash and abuse. Andrew hasn't broken the family code. His mother paid off a woman who said he'd raped her. He's not been ostracised though because he didn't break the family code. In these enmeshed families some rules are more important than others.

AliceOlive · 15/05/2024 11:35

How was Harry ostracized?

skullbabe · 15/05/2024 11:41

The US banking system is very different to ours and frankly people in the US also prefer using checks. Itโ€™s harder to set up bank to bank transfers with ease (can take days and attracts fees - something I discovered when I banked with a credit union) and even though many utilities have the option for electronic payments, many other things like rent and governmental agencies like state licensure require physical checks.

Me too. Iโ€™ve never seen anything like it. Absolutely disgraceful. Bouzy is still at it but heโ€™s completely obsessed and all kinds of crazy, itโ€™s an embarrassing association.

Interesting that he was also paid by Amber Heard and didnโ€™t do her reputation or popularity any favours either.

MummyJ12 · 15/05/2024 11:45

I was surprised the last time I went to the US, they didnโ€™t even have chip and pin. (Not sure if thatโ€™s still the case?)

And here's a much younger Harold in an active war zone who didn't get a single mention yesterday. Very sad all round.

The true conflict lies in the clash between modernity and tradition,

Personally, I think the true conflict was between the values of public service (which applies more widely than the Royal family by the way) and exploiting that position for personal gain.

Why would Harry ger a mention? Heโ€™s estranged from his family, sold tawdry tales on them. This was about Charles, William, the army and the chief role. Not about bloody Harry.

Why should he be mentioned yesterday? It had nothing to do with him.

My grandmother used to give the presents to all siblings when one had a birthday. The same presents for all! Is it like that? Mom thought it was not a good lesson for us.

We do finally. And tap. Was maybe in the past 6 years? Canโ€™t remember but it was a pain when I traveled there, because I didnโ€™t have it for a while.

jeffgoldblum · 15/05/2024 12:01

So interesting to hear about other countries!
Thank you @AliceOlive , sorry to press for information.

He was hurting, he lost his mother at a very early age, learnt the truth of his father's infidelity , was a hero in an active war zone serving his country and got PTSD and got very little comfort for those that should have been there for him. Then he found love and a way out of his pain.

We don't do grin and bear it any more or smack children or send them up chimmeys. The Royal Family will need to adapt or die. The King of the Netherlands is hugely popular and on the annual King's Day holiday the whole country young and old have right old rave up. I could get behind that and say I love My King !

Oh for goodness sake. Plenty of people have lost a parent in traumatic circumstances, myself included at a young age, plenty of those people served on the miliarry, it doesnโ€™t justify is behaviour. Thr royal family is doing fine, itโ€™s Harold who is struggling outside and wanting back in

jeffgoldblum · 15/05/2024 12:08

From all tangible evidence, only Harry and Meghan are having this fight. Your tresses may vary.

@skullbabe I have filed and paid my taxes via bank transfer for years. I can set the date for the transfer. It goes through immediately. I also transfer money for mortgage, maintenance, bills, retirement savings, and donations. I don't use checks. I give money presents through PayPal. In NYC, you can pay real estate taxes, parking tickets, etc. online. I find it hard to believe that California is more backward than NYS.
