Part 5 of (mostly ๐Ÿ˜‚) drama-free and positive threads, delving into all things Meghan and Harry. Whether itโ€™s the causes they support, their business initiatives, or Meghanโ€™s fashion choices (Harryโ€™s too, on occasion ๐Ÿ˜‰), thereโ€™s plenty to discuss. Just a pro-tip - that there may be use of MLE terms and discussions of dupes - you might want to exit stage left if these things offend. Hat tip to @queentim for the original inspiration.

Would you like to explain your remark to me @WhatAreThey ?

DiTePerdantTeMaledico · 14/05/2024 12:29

AliceOlive · 14/05/2024 12:23

oh please, sell it somewhere but not to us.

Indeed.

That remark was a disgrace. Dont be putting that on anyone other than the person who said it.

As expected in order to give Willy's fan base something and more likely an attempt to overshadow the successful Nigerian tour, Charles has given Willy Harry's battalion to command.

Let's deal with this disinformation.

In August 2023, following His Majestyโ€™s accession, the King was pleased to announce military appointments, including that the Prince of Wales will become Colonel-in-Chief of the Army Air Corps. This role was previously held by His Majesty the King as Prince of Wales for 31 years.

The formal handing over took place the day before yesterday, an event that would have been in the planning for months. Nobody knew about the Nigerian visit of H&M until, what, a week ago, 10 days? A private visit that has nothing to do with the RF and their scheduling.

The role was held by the previous Prince of Wales and now the current one. At no point has it ever been Harry's job nor promised to him. Nor can it be, since he is neither a working royal nor a resident of this country - both his choices.

I've reported your racist attack @WhatAreThey

And yup theyโ€™ve gone and done it - well done everyone ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ

I totally get your intention with these threads and I find you one of the fairest, most balanced posters on this board, but you're aiming that in the wrong direction this time.

Truly, the comment above (not yours) was completely uncalled for. It's a real shame it's completely destroyed your thread.

Not the case.

Enough said.

Bloody hell!!
That you actually posted that - shame on you.

Personally, Iโ€™m all for letting that post stand, itโ€™s says a lot. If that poster is happy to post it, they are happy to own it and defend it.

Lets see @WhatAreThey

Sorry I'm not sure what you mean ?
Can you explain?

CoffeeCantata · 14/05/2024 12:50

You don't know that anyone spoke of "concern" about Archie's skin colour, because the person that had the conversation (single - there were no conversations) has never contextualised it. For a start, a conversation about skin colour does not necessarily equal racism, and I don't know how many people of colour have explained that this is the case on these boards. Second, the "concern" may have been any number of things, but not necessarily that he would be too black, or whatever the implication was. And no, I don't share your paranoia either.

Well said, as per usual, Milkshake.

Gosh - hasn't this been gone over to breaking point since the (dodgy) allegation was made? As Milkshake says, a conversation speculating about an expected baby's appearance isn't necessarily racist. Not only does that happen in pretty much every family, but I've heard and read reactions from many people of colour that they would have exactly that conversation themselves, in a completely benevolent way, and especially if the child would be mixed-race.

And! H has refuted it since, hasn't he? But certain people don't want to hear that - it doesn't suit the narrative they love.

And it's in their interest to just keep this going to the end of time, no matter what anyone (including H & M) say or do.

We are all mumsnetters here.

It would be more helpful to try to scale back the "us vs them" divisiveness!

(even if started by someone else....)

AliceOlive · 14/05/2024 13:02

Nevahmind.

MrsLeonFarrell · 14/05/2024 13:02

Has the visit finished now? I ask because I've already been wrong.

I'm enjoying the CNN article posted above making a point of saying the UK list Nigeria as a dangerous place to visit, without mentioning that the US advice is exactly the same.

I think this says far less about any royal, working or not, and far more about CNN and their attitude towards the UK.

Anyway @skullbabe it's been an interesting thread, before the last diversion, so thank you for starting it.

Folks, try as hard as you may, the point I and others are making is coming across loud and clear.

I am soooooo enjoying this! Shows some posters up in their true colours!

Keep it coming, folks!

Come. On. Folks. Keep up!

All your words from your posts this morning, @TallerSally . I'm not sure you are in a position to lecture anyone else on divisiveness.

I donโ€™t think anyone on here has โ€˜wilful blindnessโ€™ to Harryโ€™s record of racism. Unlike everyone else in his family, including his proven racist grandfather, he has been willing to address it though.

I donโ€™t like his rowing back from โ€˜racismโ€™ to โ€˜unconscious biasโ€™ because unconscious, or conscious, racism is racism.

I believe someone in that family spoke with concern about Archieโ€™s skin color. But, like the rest of us, I donโ€™t know who. The person who did it knows though, and theyโ€™ve sat quiet about it. Thatโ€™s on them.

Letโ€™s face it. This is the British monarchy. To think Harry is the only one who has been racist is โ€˜willful blindnessโ€™ imo.

Where did the idea that the RF had behaved in a racist way to Meghan come from? From Spare and from the OW interview, when they didn't have the guts to name the person/people they were accusing so that everyone came under suspicion.

They've since retracted.

It comes down to who you believe, and what agenda the accusers have. I'm very aware of the agenda M & H have and being perpetual victims is one aspect of it. The RF were delighted to have Meghan on board - it was a wonderful opportunity for them to modernise and widen their appeal. To say anything else is just crazy. As for the press and social media - that's a different matter - but it's not the fault of the RF. Fgs, look at how KC behaved at the wedding - he was wonderfully warm to M and her mum, and clearly wished the couple all the best.

Other family members may have seen through Meghan, and been less delighted but that's not because of her race but because of the behaviour she showed before the wedding took place.

To try to erase such skill by taking a photo in front of one is just low! Even for a monarchy desperate for relevance.

You missed the bit where William, who still retains his pilots licence, flew it away. Something Harry, former Apache gunner, canโ€™t do.

You do realise heโ€™s not a king, donโ€™t you? Why doesnโ€™t he still fly? Why wasnโ€™t he able to stay in the army? You do realise William is also an extremely experienced pilot, donโ€™t you?
