Part 5 of (mostly ๐Ÿ˜‚) drama-free and positive threads, delving into all things Meghan and Harry. Whether itโ€™s the causes they support, their business initiatives, or Meghanโ€™s fashion choices (Harryโ€™s too, on occasion ๐Ÿ˜‰), thereโ€™s plenty to discuss. Just a pro-tip - that there may be use of MLE terms and discussions of dupes - you might want to exit stage left if these things offend. Hat tip to @queentim for the original inspiration.

I hope I have kept to the spirit of the OP - it's the slightly wearying attacks and takedowns that derail. Though I do realise it is an open unmoderated forum where all are free to air their opinions within reason. Is it too much to ask that just on one thread the Harry haters could hold their tongues, please. I like them they make me happy, I'm not part of some satanic cabal, is that a crime ?

Mylovelygreendress · 13/05/2024 09:07

This thread is utterly bizarre. Duke and Duchess of Windsor Mark 2 .
I would love to be a fly on the wall in BP.
If KC doesnโ€™t take steps to stop this flagrant attempt at half in/ half out , I am pretty sure William will.

DiTePerdantTeMaledico · 13/05/2024 09:11

It is an open forum.

And unfortunately those who sprinkle words like haters in a positive thread (as well as inventing or spinning the content of posts) can, and will, invite comment.

TheFirmBiscuit · 13/05/2024 09:21

They are fully "Out" - the Palace now has no levers that would work to stop them,a situation they have engineered. As for the Duke of Windsor he was an abdicated King and also an avowed Nazi who would have reigned as a traitor king should the Germans have won, wheras Harry fought for his country. He should have been hung as such after the war instead he still had a royal get out of jail card, just like Andrew.

BemusedAmerican · 13/05/2024 09:25

@TheFirmBiscuit I've read several books about Wallis and Edward. I would not wish their life on anyone. Their later years were increasing miserable. The BF just had to stand by and watch.

I'm disappointed to see having multiple wives and sex selection so casually mentioned and normalised on mn of all places!

Another picture from the naming ceremony

Edited

I like this picture for the woman on the far left - she is fully covered looks professional and but that suit/dress isn't wearing her like a tent it make her look good.

Looking at the red carpets recently I think there's a huge issue with the big western designer houses - so many beautiful women made to look frumpy and fat - or dresses wearing them - and sexy is more than just huge swathes of flesh on display or genital areas looking uncovered. It doesn't invoke the past glamour of Hollywood.

I always thought Meghan's ill fitting wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses reflected badly on the fashion house - doesn't matter how supposedly "difficult" the client is - a lot of stories about behind scenes about bullying bridesmaids apparently came from the fashion house staff - I image in a desperate arse covering exercise as that poor a product on world stage was just embarrassing.

Well after the misogyny against step mothers, are you surprised? This thread is quite the eye opener.

They are not โ€œ fully outโ€ . They are clinging on to their royal titles and insist on their DC being Prince and Princess .
If they were fully out they would stop using the titles and have the confidence to make a success of their lives without them .

jeffgoldblum · 13/05/2024 09:41

True @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar ! But have to admit I'm still amazed that this was just posted on mn !
Multiple wives and sex selection is not only not part of ours or many cultures it's actually illegal, I'm particularly upset by the extermination of girls before they are even born! Like they are less than !

skullbabe · 13/05/2024 10:13

So all in all I think it was a great trip.

If youโ€™re so inclined - please support the donation of menstrual products via Archwell or any other charity you may wish to support, GEANCO continue to fund the David Ayelowo Leadership scholarship for girls (esp for girls affected by terrorism) in partnership with Archwell amongst others, support your veterans - support services and issues for your veterans locally, encourage leadership in women (Iโ€™m so ashamed to say I did not know that the head of the WTO was a woman ๐Ÿ˜ฒ) - encourage the pathway from schools to leadership (sponsor local mentorship schemes for women and girls), we all know that sport and exercise schemes help the youth and give people a well rounded development framework as adults - support one locally or support Giants of Africa , learn about cultures and experiences that are different to your own - thanks to the Naija sistren for representing - Iโ€™ve had great fun looking at the Africa Magic Viewers Choice awards pictures on social media this weekend - apparently โ€œBreath of Lifeโ€ is the movie to watch (itโ€™s on Prime and on my massive waitlist ๐Ÿคฃ); and finally I didnโ€™t learn this with this trip but

please consider buying formula at your next food shop to donate to food banks if you can.

SCHOLARSHIPS - The GEANCO Foundation

Well hopefully the new Nigerian princess will tackle these issues head on, being the feminist and humanitarian that she is with her huge platform and desire to bring about meaningful change. Along with the widespread practice of FGM, that is once again on the rise, the persecution of Christians, the persecution of homosexuals, the missing kidnapped schoolgirls and the continued mass kidnapping of children, and the unequal treatment of those people that are the descendants of slaves (which only ended in Nigeria in the 1940s, so is still very much a live problem). These are all issues a princess with an incredible sphere of influence and support should be tackling, and she should hold herself accountable as a Nigerian of immense power and ability to bring about change until that change does happen. To quote Meghan, silence is complicity. So hopefully she will not be silent, she will hold the Nigerian authorities to account as a member of royalty, she listen to the vulnerable Nigerian populace, and she will not let them down.

jeffgoldblum · 13/05/2024 10:41

Yes @Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar , that would be an excellent use of her power and position!
And as private citizens not representing another country , something that could be achieved without any diplomatic issues!
I would give her a standing ovation if she does this ๐Ÿ‘

headstone · 13/05/2024 10:45

Iโ€™m sure we will all here about her tremendous achievement in Nigeria after only a short visit in the next Netflix sequel.

I sent my loved ones jam from Small Batch Jam Co for Mother's Day. That was my charitable giving. ๐Ÿ˜‡

That sounds sweet and thoughtful!

"Who needs a crown when you've got this much love? Princess Meghan, stealing hearts in Nigeria."

You can say that again. She truly is the queen of hearts. Local reporters kept using "our sister" or "our daughter" when describing her. I pray there's a minimum 5 part documentary about this visit alone! I'll enjoy watching as many others would.

Hear-hear!

So nice to see people interested in doing what they can to have social impact, and inviting others to do so, as opposed to mindless endless bickering on social media!

Ofcourse it's not. Most people love them which is why British media works tirelessly with the Bucks palace to manipulate.

The visit has indeed ramped up the profile of many charities and participation of the general public.
I'm looking forward to the movie too. It's not yet on my Netflix.
I enjoyed Tribe of Judah. Funke Akindele is very talented.

Lovin' the humour! This whole trip has had a really friendly vibe to it, it's been a breath of fresh air!

Mymilkshakebringsallthepapstomycar · 13/05/2024 11:34

Why does an immensely rich country that can afford to shell out millions for this visit need donated sanitary products from the West?

The aso oke we've seen with her traditionally was used to signify wealth and status but that's in it's traditional colours of shades of blue and sometimes with a few lines of red in it. It's called Aso Oke Etu.

Only very few Aso Oke patterns are peculiar to certain areas of Yoruba land but even then, they can be worn by anyone. However, when it comes to them being used as Aso Ebi (family fabric) it will be that the family are from that area it comes from.
The pattern she had on as ipele is similar to Etu Aso Oke. Etu is usually different shades of blue in that pattern but hers has some ochre. I suspect they felt she's not going for the super colourful outfits cos I saw Abike Dabiri Minister for Nigerian Diaspora present amongst other items an outfit that looked like a coat or dress with patchwork of different colours and fabrics and they seem to be firmly and lovingly saying something to her about it amd the other fabrics and Meghan had one peice in her hand and said something back with a huge smile. To me, it looked like the aunties where telling her she's a wife, married to a prince and she mustn't dress timid. ๐Ÿ˜ I plan to watch the panel event as well.
I noticed one of my former neighbours there. She was director of one of the biggest banks in Nigeria. The women at that meeting were movers and shakers in W.Africa and the conversation about mentoring other women is heartwarming! Meghan is pure talent on steroids!

@Delectable can I join others in thanking you for your contributions to this thread.

It really is a joy to read some actual content and learn something useful, from someone who clearly knows what they're talking about!
