Part 5 of (mostly ๐Ÿ˜‚) drama-free and positive threads, delving into all things Meghan and Harry. Whether itโ€™s the causes they support, their business initiatives, or Meghanโ€™s fashion choices (Harryโ€™s too, on occasion ๐Ÿ˜‰), thereโ€™s plenty to discuss. Just a pro-tip - that there may be use of MLE terms and discussions of dupes - you might want to exit stage left if these things offend. Hat tip to @queentim for the original inspiration.

Absolutely! Within 24hrs she said! She'd gotten the memo, she has to wear colours! Don't go timid with colours! Shine bright like a star!
Abuja is more formal and serious as it's simply the capital city full of bureaucracy, Lagos is the razz matazz economic and social hub but even the aunties of Abuja were like, "my daughter, you cannot go out like this!" "One colour? Why?!" ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

It's likely overhang from the days of royal engagements wearing one plain colour. We want the splash! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿฅณ

Confused
CathyorClaire · 12/05/2024 21:05

Why anyone thinks the Royal family would have needed or wanted a couple looking only to burnish their own reputations while also lining their own pockets (oh, I beg your pardon, โ€œearn an independent incomeโ€) is beyond me. Itโ€™s the slipperiest slope possible to being in Prince Andrew landโ€ฆ

Just me wondering how long the Harold files will be sealed... ๐Ÿ‘€

Well it's true! When you have access to such beautiful fabrics and patterns, why limit yourself to monotones??

I'm going to be watching how Meghan wears colours now, but it will obviously also be dependent on the trends in America

I am one of their brown โ€œsubjectsโ€, and I donโ€™t buy into this sort of victim drivel. I have more self esteem than that.

Likewise.

skullbabe · 12/05/2024 21:12

Iโ€™m holding out hope that we see her in a gele before they leave. ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿฝ

There is no good faith in you saying it in the first place. You are weaponising a health crisis to bolster your own argument that the RF is failing. You can deny it all you like, but people can read. And the โ€œcrisisโ€was created by the online hate generated by the Sussex supporters and the furore whipped up by them. The RF are doing just fine looking out for one another and getting on with the jobs at hand.

To borrow another phrase from the "real" Queen - recollections may vary in this, the best possible of all worlds. If the institution was as robust as you seem to think there wouldn't be legions of online defenders paranoid at any perceived sleight or criticism and putting poor hapless Harry at the heart of all this. Polls have put support for the monarchy at around 50% down from 75% when Elizabeth reigned so maybe your paranoia is justified !

Not sure that these "Sussex supporters" have these magical powers you are ascribing to them when the fault lies with the PR and messaging from within the Royal Family and the world's press. If you live by the sword ....

Conflating Andrew and this couple is a bit of a stretch. He remains in the heart of the BRF, is allowed to attend events and still refusing to coperate with the FBI,lest we forget.

You mean the magical powers of the Sussex Squad to manufacture an affair story from nothing (going after a civilian woman and her child, such nice people that you are); to manufacture a disgusting story about William murdering his wife (again, no thought for the innocents involved); to be too dim to understand a statement saying Catherine wouldnโ€™t emerge until after Easter; to completely get their collective knickers in a large twist wedged firmly up their bottoms over a photograph? None of that had anything to do with the RF. it had everything to do with the people H& M associate with and their agenda of jealousy and hatred. Actually there is nothing magical about them. They are just sad trolls.

Oh, and Camilla is Queen now. Get over it.

Apologies if it's already been posted, but here is a photo of Meghan meeting with Nigerian royals (source: twitter.com)

"Photo story: Fom the private hosting of prince Harry and Meghan [Markle)], the Duke and duchess of Sussex in Lagos.

It's usual for those without any African heritage to impose the one drop rule as applied to black Africans and those of black African heritage.
They distance themselves from anything to do with the humanity of the African people on the continent and the diaspora.

This is an interesting post from a Nigerian ex-Etonian https://twitter.com/kio_amachree

Some senior Kings have travelled to meet them in Lagos.

If she goes to Yoruba land outside Lagos and visits a King I doubt they'll allow her leave without wearing one! ๐Ÿ˜‚

Lagos is a liberal and Yoruba Lagosians won't want it to seem they're excluding others. I can't imagine Oba Elegushi for example being able to persuade her. We went to uni together.

I'm in the Sussex Squad now - first I've heard of it. There are fringe nut jobs on both sides blathering into the ether but as far as I can see they don't make the weather. The world's mainstream press including a now contrite Sarah Vine and the news vacuum and mixed messaging coming out from KP were the drivers of that particular news cycle.

I'll split the difference and give you Consort which I believe is what Her Late Majesty devoutly wished her to be referred to but now has been conveniently ignored.

skullbabe · 12/05/2024 21:43

@Delectable does the aso oke that sheโ€™s wearing in the first set of pictures you posted have a specific meaning?

Iโ€™m starting to see the joke here.

Hillcrest2022 · 12/05/2024 21:45

Oh FFS all the mean girl comments on here. She looks gorgeous - the yellow and white outfits in particular are stunning. Let them do their thing, they're not harming anyone.

cookienomstar · 12/05/2024 21:48

@Delectable are you telling us you could have been a Queen๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€??!

DiTePerdantTeMaledico · 12/05/2024 21:54

There are indeed scurrilous rumours out there.

Only I suspect there is a lot more truth to them than the one mentioned here.

MummyJ12 · 12/05/2024 21:55

I donโ€™t think that you have any idea on what you are posting/saying @TheFirmBiscuit. Please, if you genuinely donโ€™t know anything about the Sussex Squad then let me assure you that you do not want to be associated with them or their campaign of terror. I do think that you need to look into it further for yourself as I do not wish to derail this thread. @skullbabe has respectfully asked for a positive thread and I wish it to remain so. As some of us posters have a genuine admiration and respect for one another even if we donโ€™t agree on everything.
Sussex Squad is not the same as someone who genuinely supports the couple or admires them. Just so you know.

Back to the threadโ€ฆ.
LOVE the gold Burberry heels!
Love the ruffled hem on the red dress.
My favourite outfit is the skirt (that was gifted to her) and the white shirt. She rocks a white shirt.
Would have loved to have seen her in some of Lisa Folawiyoโ€™s designs. I think they would have really suited her.
The yellow dress was a gorgeous choice colour wise and great that it was getting another outing.

skullbabe · 12/05/2024 22:00

Oh wow I have seen what just happened - these 3 Kings made her now Princess of Nigeria in her own rights. Ada Mazi, Omu of Arochukwu Ancient Kingdom.

Oh and since you brought it up - that rumour was started by Giles Coren who is in fact best friend's with Tom Parker-Bowles so it wasn't just a scurillous rumour he hastily retracted but probably came from the horse's mouth so to speak.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/you/article-12415509/The-Queens-sons-favourite-kebab-Tom-Parker-Bowles-cash-takeaway-beats-420-dinner-Park-Lane-hands-down.html

You clearly have no idea what you are talking about, do you. And how malicious to double down on a lie designed to hurt innocent women and their children. I suggest you stick to chatting about frocks.

Serenster · 12/05/2024 22:26

Not ignored at all - her wishes have put into effect. Camilla has the position of Queen Consort, rather than Princess Consort, just as QEII (who herself had the position of Queen Regnant) wished.

A Queen Consort is addressed as Queen - so Queen Camilla just like Queen Mary and Queen Alexandra. A Princess Consort would be addressed as Princess Camilla - as Prince Albert, the Prince Consort of Queen Victoria.

Conflating Andrew and this couple is a bit of a stretch. He remains in the heart of the BRF, is allowed to attend events and still refusing to coperate with the FBI,lest we forget.

Since he went to Sandringham church on Christmas Day 2022, which events has Andrew been 'allowed to attend'? Can you remember what they were? Were they all church events or have there been any that weren't church?

Do the FBI ask him to co-operate with them on a regular basis? When was the last time?

If a priest or a church council is happy for a person to attend church can any other worshipper stop them from doing?

@Delectable does the aso oke that sheโ€™s wearing in the first set of pictures you posted have a specific meaning?

The aso oke we've seen with her traditionally was used to signify wealth and status but that's in it's traditional colours of shades of blue and sometimes with a few lines of red in it. It's called Aso Oke Etu.

Only very few Aso Oke patterns are peculiar to certain areas of Yoruba land but even then, they can be worn by anyone. However, when it comes to them being used as Aso Ebi (family fabric) it will be that the family are from that area it comes from.
The pattern she had on as ipele is similar to Etu Aso Oke. Etu is usually different shades of blue in that pattern but hers has some ochre. I suspect they felt she's not going for the super colourful outfits cos I saw Abike Dabiri Minister for Nigerian Diaspora present amongst other items an outfit that looked like a coat or dress with patchwork of different colours and fabrics and they seem to be firmly and lovingly saying something to her about it amd the other fabrics and Meghan had one peice in her hand and said something back with a huge smile. To me, it looked like the aunties where telling her she's a wife, married to a prince and she mustn't dress timid. ๐Ÿ˜ I plan to watch the panel event as well.
I noticed one of my former neighbours there. She was director of one of the biggest banks in Nigeria. The women at that meeting were movers and shakers in W.Africa and the conversation about mentoring other women is heartwarming! Meghan is pure talent on steroids!
