Part 5 of (mostly ๐Ÿ˜‚) drama-free and positive threads, delving into all things Meghan and Harry. Whether itโ€™s the causes they support, their business initiatives, or Meghanโ€™s fashion choices (Harryโ€™s too, on occasion ๐Ÿ˜‰), thereโ€™s plenty to discuss. Just a pro-tip - that there may be use of MLE terms and discussions of dupes - you might want to exit stage left if these things offend. Hat tip to @queentim for the original inspiration.

@skuskullbabe and I agree with others it's so nice to have a positive thread about them for those who like a bit of positivity around them.

Please explain how we would have ever heard of either of these two if not for Harryโ€™s grandmother?

We won't have heard of said grandmother if her uncle hadn't abdicated to marry his divorced love interest. Charles could've done the same and married Camilla but he likes to have his cake and eat it. Marry a young woman to get heirs and to be king, say he won't marry Camilla, marry her say she won't be queen, then make her queen.

The trip has been an absolute success! Some travelled from outside Nigeria to meet them and everywhere they've been showered with love.

I trust this comment will be reported and Mumsnet will delete as they don't allow criticism of certain people.

Go ahead.

You started the vitriol, dear. All your posts are full of it.

No. I have been upbeat and positive about the couple and the tour and then harried with sniping and snide remarks and "corrections" which then goads me into responding. The hate on the other thread is really something to behold and certainly not healthy in any universe maybe tilt your windmill at that !

Hahaha apparently this is happening now I will assume the Lagos polo team is Team Duchess ๐Ÿ˜‚

You missed all the โ€œwhere is Kateโ€ threads then. That are still standing. Plenty of criticism of everyone else there. Your cynicism is misplaced ๐Ÿ˜Š

Thank you so much!

Apologies, a few typos. Iro and buba. Iro is wrapper and buba is the top.

Very well said. Oh, and yes those cracks have been papered over in the haste to sanctify the institution in the post Elizabethan age. The late Queen was said to have half joked "Apres moi, le deluge" . Quite, but even she couldn't have predicted what an annus horribilis it is turing out to be.

We donโ€™t make remarks about other threads on this site, or didnโ€™t you know that? Even though certain posters on certain boards seem to get away with it, it is not the norm. You seem very well acquainted with something you donโ€™t find healthy. Perhaps you need to tilt your windmills elsewhere and stop reading things that trigger you. Robust discussion is what this board is about.

Aso oke (higher cloth) is traditionally worn by women as iron (wrapper), buna (top), gele (head tie), iborun (over the shoulder) and ipele short piece around the hip.

Traditional rulers, celebrants eg bride, mother of the bride, royalty, celebrants of landmark birthdays etc will wear this complete set.

More commonly, women will wear the head tie and iborun over the shoulder.

Different areas have patterns and colours perculiar to them.

It's hand woven, can be made from silk, wool or cotton.
Traditionally very heavy but lighter version are alao available.

It's beautiful and connotes respect, care, intentionally and purpose.

Edited

Thanks for explaining that. I've been looking up the odd unfamiliar term as we've gone along, but useful and interesting to see how they go together and their meaning.

Just noticed your corrections - thanks again.

Are you seriously having a go at the royal family for having a cancer crisis now? Disgusting.

No one is "having a go" .You have loaded the phrase and made your own conclusion in bad faith . I borrowed it from Her Majesty , it means horrible year and I don't think anyone could deny that.

I visited this club a few times.
Apart from polo, non player's also enjoy socialising there and I trust Lagosians to remind Meghan that the Nigerian youth's slogan of the year is "do not 'gree for anybody!" ie stand up for yourself!
Even the aunties in Abuja already told her they're not surprised she has Nigerian blood! Yam pepper scattered! Table shaker! Table legs broken! Whole table broken! ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I find it hilarious that they told her to wear some colour, and she did it ASAP ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ she needs the Nigerian Aunties on speed dial!!

There is no good faith in you saying it in the first place. You are weaponising a health crisis to bolster your own argument that the RF is failing. You can deny it all you like, but people can read. And the โ€œcrisisโ€was created by the online hate generated by the Sussex supporters and the furore whipped up by them. The RF are doing just fine looking out for one another and getting on with the jobs at hand.

I think you missed my point entirely which was that the Clooneyโ€™s have nothing in common in terms of accomplishments with Harry and Meghan and itโ€™s positively silly to suggest they do. Thatโ€™s all.

Yes. Very clearly and publicly only looking out for the white members of their family.

A wonderful illustration of how very little they and many in the UK think of their brown and black subjects.

Absolute shame and to make it worse non of the royal pundits can call it out and even married women act as if all is well and good. Not till it happens to them.

Leaving has worked out so well for H&M. They won't have left if it wasn't that they had no choice and I trust aunty Ngozi to counsel Meghan to keep her chin up, love her husband who left the most famous royal family for her. Most women who hate Meghan can't understand how he could do that, it's why they smear Edward VIII. This is the only family they kneel and bow to, pray for and yet Harry &M left. It's like a personal insult not to mention the other trait that gripes thm.
Off to catch-up on Arise news. Been busy all day.

I am one of their brown โ€œsubjectsโ€, and I donโ€™t buy into this sort of victim drivel. I have more self esteem than that.

If it worked out so well why have they been the parading around in all white colonial reminiscent attire (only missing the pith helmet!) inspecting troops, sitting on thrones and listening to God save the King?

I am chuckling.

Absolutely! Within 24hrs she said! She'd gotten the memo, she has to wear colours! Don't go timid with colours! Shine bright like a star!
Abuja is more formal and serious as it's simply the capital city full of bureaucracy, Lagos is the razz matazz economic and social hub but even the aunties of Abuja were like, "my daughter, you cannot go out like this!" "One colour? Why?!" ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

It's likely overhang from the days of royal engagements wearing one plain colour. We want the splash! ๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿฅณ

You know I've seen some snippets on X - all in all as you would expect - decent and respectful coverage.
