Why is Harry's 'spokesperson' making public 'statements' about family matters?

Harry is obviously a massive attention seeker but I'm sure William's or Charles' spokesperson would put out some generic comment too if asked for comment.

A private jet from Nigeria to California would be horribly expensive. A hundred grand, and probably considerably more. Who is going to pay for such an unnecessary extravagance? And what would Travalyst say?

Even A listers, which they are not, usually fly commercial on such long routes. In first or business class, of course.

I doubt they pay for any of their travels to be fair.

However, there are plenty of Nigerian billionaires, who might offer them the use of their personal private jet, even the Nigerian government have their own 737 private jet. Maybe Invictus or some of their sponsors would be happy to cough up for private travel. . Boeing, an Invictus sponsor, have their own fleet of private jets for the use of their executives, so no shortage there if they want to give them a ride.

They are always asked for comment. Always. Every single time.

"The duke of course is understanding of his father's diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon," said a statement from Prince Harry's spokesman.

At first I thought this was sarky / passive aggressive 😂but turns out Charles apparently returned to public engagements last week

Talk about trying to save face! How embarrassing.

BigWillyLittleTodger · 07/05/2024 17:36

Sillystrumpet · 07/05/2024 17:25

Charles full diary is just a pr play for the media. If Charles wished to see him for a coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner,a drink he would have done.

the fact they are a couple of miles apart and won’t see each other, harry in a hotel, says there is way more going on behind the scenes than is being said.

maybe it’s all their pretend royal shit, Nigeria, the website etc, who knows. One thing is for sure, this is a snub from Charles.

Yep it’s a snub for sure, he’s the King, if he wanted to see Harry he would have and the spokesperson’s statement is just Harry trying to save face.

Abouttimeforanamechange · 07/05/2024 17:37

Apparently? It was reported that he would be returning to (selected) public enggements, and then reported when he did.

I don't follow royal news. Calm your outrage

AnnieSF · 07/05/2024 17:42

Who be is Harry's current spokesperson?

Janiie · 07/05/2024 17:43

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 07/05/2024 17:15

Adds 'foaming at the mouth' and 'hurling insults' to list of things posters on here have been called and accused of doing. Makes a change from haterzzzz, I 'spose.

Shabby little boat is a new one too, they're increasingly their insult repertoire Grin.

Don't forget we are also bitter and jealous because we wanted The Hapless Ginger Whinger for ourselves apparently

AnnieSF · 07/05/2024 17:43

Urrggh can't edit on phone... " who be?" I sound like I come from somewhere else 😂

Sillystrumpet · 07/05/2024 17:32

And they do, don't they? Admittedly I'm not glued to royal news but on random articles I've seen a fair few generic comments re Harry/Harry's visits from them.

I used to work in media. Many parties preferred putting out a generic statement because "no comment"/"refused to comment" (which press are free to reference) speaks volumes and elicits speculation

IsoldeWagner · 07/05/2024 17:47

It's bad news for Harry about not meeting with his father, because the more distant he is from the throne, the less he has to sell.
I also think he wanted to have contact before Nigeria so that he could have something to talk about, like when he went to Canada.

Thedom · 07/05/2024 17:47

I wonder if Charles was advised to not see Harry before his trip to Nigeria for concern it could be misconstrued as a tacit approval, you could just imagine Harry saying something like 'Pa is supportive of my trip to Nigeria, as we talked a little about it and his previous trip'.

I wonder if Charles will have a full schedule again on Harrys' return should he transit the UK, for concern it could look like Harry giving a debrief on the visit.

Harry really is a loose cannon, even within Invictus now, he is beginning to look like he has lost the plot in favour of aggrandising himself and his wife. No one in their right mind thinks Nigeria is a realistic location to host the games.

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 07/05/2024 17:47

Don't forget we are also bitter and jealous because we wanted The Hapless Ginger Whinger for ourselves apparently

You can safely exclude me from that; not least because I'm old enough to be his mother. Still someone's got a slightly wider vocab than the usual, so all good.

Lindy2 · 07/05/2024 17:48

"They haven't actually done anything wrong".

Well throwing your family under a bus for your own financial gain, doesn't feel very right.

Meghan's outfits also just very regularly don't quite suit the occasion. Too informal shorts suit for a formal parade, glamorous green evening dress for a sporting event, stiletto heels for walking on grass at polo. For someone who has strived for a look at me role for themselves that involves being fashionable, I find it quite odd how often she just isn't very appropriately dressed.

Janiie · 07/05/2024 17:50

'However, there are plenty of Nigerian billionaires, who might offer them the use of their personal private jet, even the Nigerian government have their own 737 private jet'

Yes but how safe? It's surely a massive security concern and while Harry's a figure of ridicule and derision no-one wants him to come to any harm.

Can you imagine the headlines?! it would all be the RF's fault with the whole of the UK complicit in making him go to a country with serious safety issues just to play at being Royal for the day. They'll be jollily picking ballgowns and practising long winded, authentic, light shining speeches whilst in Nigeria God knows what they'll be planning..

43percentClaw · 07/05/2024 17:53

Actions.

Consequences.

Loose cannon indeed Thedom

Or joke. It is hard to tell.

But Charles' spokesperson hasn't commented, have they?

The royals have a tradition of not commenting on private family matters.

Janiie · 07/05/2024 18:02

"The duke of course is understanding of his father's diary of commitments and various other priorities"

It's passive aggressive isn't it. He could've said 'commitments and various other responsibilities' but nope, 'various other priorities' slipping in a whinge that he knows he is not a priority. Tough shit Harry, reap what you sow you backstabbing gossiper.

Salemforcuddles · 07/05/2024 18:08

I do wonder if there is more that we don't know about, it would take an awful lot for me not to speak to my son and what ever people may think of him I think it's always been clear that Charles has loved his sons. It must be incredibly painful

Viviennemary · 07/05/2024 18:09

Just heard this on the BBC news no less. So must be true. Harry seems to be well and truly out of favour.

Lookingatthesunset · 07/05/2024 18:12

LBFseBrom · 07/05/2024 14:38

It's not that long ago that Harry, then Meghan and Harry, were feted, then the media turned against them. People forget how good they were. I would be glad to see him or them back here from time to time, at least they are not stuffed shirts. They haven't actually done anything wrong.

So you think the lying, and the monetising of private family issues, are ok? I don't.

Yes it would take a lot for me to not speak to my son, but he is in touch with him he just isn't seeing him whilst he's here. I imagine the feelings of Camilla, W&K may have been a consideration too.

Low contact is fine in situations like this imo, occasional phone calls etc. No one should feel forced into a meeting just to boost Harry's Royal status for his US sponsors.

Like I said earlier though, he doesn’t think it is safe in the UK for his family. If he thinks it’s safe in Nigeria or travelling on a borrowed private plane then then on his own head be it
