Quite a few of us have asked but nothing ! I was accused of gaslighting …..

Yeah I saw that! Can't back up their own posts either.

AssignedUnimportantAtBirth · 08/05/2024 18:39

@BemusedAmerican This is why it is important to know exactly when and how this supposed invitation to St Paul's was issued. Precisely because diaries of the royals are organised months in advance through official channels.

It is clear none of you are interested in having a proper discussion about this.
But trust me, I am not the only person out there side eyeing how the Royal Family are acting over Invictus.

Why don’t you answer the many questions that have been put forward to you about Invictus? posters are trying to engage with you but you are ignoring the questions so you are completely wrong in saying no one wants a proper discussion, you just don’t like it that people are pushing back.

@AssignedUnimportantAtBirth Why is it important if the Royal Family do not attend?
The only thing I can see that might make England's bid fail is if there appears to be no support from the Royal Family because they do not want to support anything Harry is involved in. If that continues and England did host Invictus then the Royal Family staying away could fill media and social media chatter for many weeks and overshadow the athletes.
There would be fights on social media between those who thought the Royal Family were right to stay away and those who thought they were wrong.
If I was on the committee I would want an assurance that the Royal Family would support Invictus and would do what they can to dampen any of this chatter down. So the focus can be on the veterans. England is good at supporting disabled athletes and the public would I think be interested.

So is Harry supporting England's bid by visiting Nigeria then? Looks like tacit support for their bid not ours! What with Meghan boycotting the Invictus ceremony today and all...

BemusedAmerican · 08/05/2024 18:41

I listened to a 60 Minutes report about this foundation last week, which I never knew existed
https://www.elizabethdolefoundation.org/

because it is overshadowed by Harry, who is not an American citizen, and his American wife, non- stop promoting themselves.

The Elizabeth Dole Foundation

Caring for Military Families: Our Vision is an America where military caregivers are empowered, appreciated, and recognized for their service to our nation.

@MrsFinkelstein You know as well as I do that there will be no official press release from the palace saying Harry invited Charles and William to the Invictus service and we ignored the invite.
I have posted links to media that do say this. Believe it or disbelieve it, I frankly do not care.
But I do believe it. Because if they had not been invited it would have been leaked and the Harry and Meghan haters would have been talking about it for days.
But you do you.

I'm sure Scrotie would have kept us all informed. It would be perfect fodder for another whingefest and Harry's not one to ever miss an opportunity for that!

What members of the Nigerian government will be present at the shindig being hosted by the Nigerian military re their Invictus bid? Why isn't this event being attended by and run by their head of state, sInce it will be run by the state and funded by the state, not the military? Isn't that "damaging" too? Why is Harry going regardless?

BigWillyLittleTodger · 08/05/2024 18:44

BemusedAmerican · 08/05/2024 18:37

Look, Royal events are planned a long time in advance. Why should Charles reschedule 8000 people? Why should William cancel an investiture? There are many other organizations that support veterans, both in the US and the UK. There are hospitals, at least, in the US, geared for the military. All these organizations have fundraisers. Not everyone can go to all of them. It's just part of life.

@BemusedAmerican you should know that anything Harry is involved in is far more important than any of the Royal family’s pre planned events, so important that they should cancel everything and rock up at the ceremony whether they are invited or not.

Viviennemary · 08/05/2024 18:44

The real royals aren't taking part in Harry's pseudo royal events, Why would they. Is he a tribute act or something. Looks like it with his upcoming state visit to Nigeria

BemusedAmerican · 08/05/2024 18:48

@BigWillyLittleTodger 😱

SluggyMuggy · 08/05/2024 18:52

At no point did I say that it had to be William or Charles. There are other members of the Royal Family. Were they all too busy for a one hour service planned in advance?

Edited

Yeah can picture it now...

Charles: Oh William, how are we going to get out of this ceremony of Harry's on 8th May?
William: I guess we'll have to set up a couple of engagements then old chap!
Charles: What do you fancy doing?
William: I don't know Pa - maybe I could do a few investitures?
Charles: Jolly good, I fancy a garden party myself..!
William: Yes, he'll never guess that we did it deliberately!

SluggyMuggy · 08/05/2024 18:53

And William did the investitures this morning. Invictus service was in the afternoon.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 08/05/2024 18:53

if (the RF) had not been invited it would have been leaked

I'm the first to agree the palace leak when it suits, but am not sure they'd have bothered with this

Why risk yet another tantrum from Montecito, when recently their whole approach has been to keep schtum about Harry with no public statements at all?

And speaking of public statements it wasn't the palace who disclosed that he was snubbed by his dad; it took Harry himself to do that via his spokesman

Vespanest · 08/05/2024 18:55

Some of the crap that has been spouted, you can’t separate the uk veterans who compete in Invictus without including the royal British legion who fundraise for them, who the royals support every bloody year. Invictus is great but it’s extremely small minded to think it’s the only way you can support veterans.

SluggyMuggy · 08/05/2024 18:57

No one has said Invictus is the only way to support veterans. No one.

Thedom · 08/05/2024 19:00

The main thing that people are side eying about invictus is how H&M are using it to promote themselves rather than the veterans. H&M are very unpopular in the UK and overseas and that is not helping the image of Invictus.

I think it is a very small minority who may be side eyeing the RF about Invictus, but the general public seem to totally understand the very valid reasons they are not involved in this particular event.

AssignedUnimportantAtBirth · 08/05/2024 19:01

SluggyMuggy · 08/05/2024 18:53

He has official duties in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly tomorrow and Friday and traveling for those duties this afternoon.

SluggyMuggy · 08/05/2024 19:01

Maybe veterans and those in the services views matter more than the general public?

No, military only have greater value than civilians in dictatorships.

SluggyMuggy · 08/05/2024 18:57

Supporting the British legion is supporting Invictus in which the royal family do.

Those in the services have a pretty dim view of Harry

Abouttimeforanamechange · 08/05/2024 19:18

There are other members of the Royal Family.

The King and Queen, Anne, Edward and Sophie were at the garden party. William was travelling to Cornwall. Who else is there?

TheFirmBiscuit · 08/05/2024 19:27

From the Express !

Guess who's back?
MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 08/05/2024 19:32

I'm not sure why the distance they're apart makes a difference unless the Express is going for subtext of 'see, they weren't that far apart so they COULD have met.' But it's the Express so who knows.
